The songs are available again, since they were rereleased in the spring of 2007 (same year Ford died). The title is "The sounds of our time" and includes a 40 page booklet.
I remember this from Andy Kershaw's Radio One show back in the 1980s. After hearing it once I wanted to hear it again. He said he'd play it in his end-of-year round-up and at the end of the show he discovered the record was broken. I was devastated!
If these songs are suppose to be the proof that Jim wrote Ode to Billie Joe they simply don't prove anything. Jim told Nick Lowe he wrote it, he told his family he co-wrote it with Bobbie Gentry. His tempo style is much faster than the conversational tone of Bobbie's and her rough drafts of the song have been housed at The Un. of Mississippi for forty years Add to that The Tallahatchie Bridge and Choctaw Ridge are real places from her childhood. He failed any legal and ethical burden of proof.
Ouais! Genial et je connaissais pas Jim Ford non plus,,,merci, thanks a lot!

I'm impressed. Hard to believe that such fine music comes from a man whose name I heard for the very first time today.
