Saw these guys supporting Green Day in 94 in Sheffield, they were amazing live. Used to play this on student radio all the time, no-one else had a clue about them.
Agree with you - these boys we're superb. Saw them at Sheffield Leadmill in 1994 & seeing them in a follow up gig there some years later. Brilliant! Up The Mariners!
What a totally amazing band. I actually saw them on numerous occasions including Reading Fest in 95
They supported Suicidal Tendencies in 2000 but by then it was all over. Shame really as they were really special and they from up North you know. Sunderland i think, North east England.
Not from Sunderland, that will hurt them ha ha ha, they were from a little village called Ovingham, I still see Adam (singer and in the earldays Drums) and Dave (Bass) evrey now and then for a pint, Chinadrum was my first real gig when I was about 16 at the Riverside.......... memories!
@buzznuts Ovingham is like the BEST village in the world like, im well privalidged to live there, i know all of the band dead well like, there all best mates with me da, there top lads like, adam just layed some turf for us, well odd experience that was haha, this video was filmed down the wylam road running into ovingham, and the ovingham reading rooms, fuckin ace band no doubt like!
Not heard this tune since I lost me tape of their Evening Session gig from 95. Amazing. Real shame that the only time I got to see them live was during the last tour as The Drum, when they played in Cardiff with a shit PA and all the lads had flu. Great band.
It's fantastic to see China Drum's first single. It was one of their best songs and yet it's only a live b-side on one of their later singles after it was deleted.
Their performance at Reading Festival was still my favorite gig of all time. I was lucky to meet the band at a show in Newcastle and they were really top blokes.
First time I saw them was in Moseley, Birmingham at the Jug of Ale just after 'Barrier' came out. It was an awesome gig they were still a 3 piece and a roadie went on drums for the encore and Adam sang up front of the stage. Quality memories, awesome band.
I haven't seen this since 1995. There was a video program on a local public access channel (in Albuquerque, New Mexico of all places) which showed all sorts of independent clips. I bought their Barrier EP shortly thereafter. Good stuff. Thanks for posting.
fuckin lovin it back in the day,and still do!

Northumberland's finest, seconded by Crane.
I remember first seeing this video on MTV2's 'Punk Rock Special' way back in 1996?
Just at the same time Goosefair came out.
I miss China Drum.
