yse, there are water snakes on the eastern half of the Loch..I used to catch them there when I was but a lad.

I think you mean eels. I know there are a couple of snake species on the British Isles and I think one legless lizard, but I don't know if they get as far north as Scotland. None of these are water snakes though some land snakes, like garter snakes, can swim.
