It's connecting with the customer. For us baristas is really fun. It makes our work easier to engage. At least I do it because I want to not because I'm forced to. And I can say everyone I've met working at Starbucks has a sense of customer service.
ok, this is not flirting, this is customer service...Starbucks Partners do not wear name tags, and she told the customer her name because that is what Partners should be doing so the people know who they are talking to, Starbucks has great customer service and are wonderful people...Id rather have someone talking to me then just saying "here it is' and thats it..
"New training video proves Baristas are supposed to flirt with the customers."
Yes, and all waiters steal credit card numbers and all showgirls are shallow and catty and all businessmen wear suits and constantly talk on their cellphones.
First I win again becuase you just responded to my post after saying "I will no longer respond to your posts" Care to elborate what my supposed ignorance is now? The way you say that comes off more as a childish "I am rubber and you are glue" type comeback.
This is silly, Most Starbucks coffee shops are constantly heaving, you don't have time to talk life history with a customer. A smile and clear speaking is sufficent.
You move around with your body, work with your hands and network with customers with your mouth. It's part of EVERY Starbucks barista's job description. That's what differentiates Starbucks & some of the other coffee shops. Even when it's busy, it's still very possible to network with customers. If the barista can't handle it, they need more practice on bar and learn how to multitask.
@aramis1603 "That's what differentiates Starbucks & some of the other coffee shops." Pleasssse I'm a "real" barista who as worked with "the other guys" and most starbucks I pass by they have thier heads down and ingnoring people asking this is like asking a mcdonalds employee the same thing lol. I actually equated starbucks as the "mcdonalds of espresso" until ironically mcdonalds started selling espresso:P
@Akhockeyman19 Our stores are SO different! If I see any of my partners with "thier heads down and ingnoring people" they WILL get coaching from me guaranteed. My store KNOWS our regulars & have the drinks pretty much ready once the regulars reach the til: aka. CUSTOMER ANTICIPATION; improves the speed to cos you KNOW what they like. It gives us more time to connect with them too! Connecting with them is why I love working for Starbucks; not dealing with crap baristas.
@aramis1603 So then why do you waste your time at a corp. that your store will never be the average starbucks just the exception to the rule? Well I guess it is prob eassier to be the best in a sea of retards;) You would be lost in a "real" cafe using manuals and having to reset your grind all the time and knowing when to LOL and don't give me that "I calibraite the machines" bs you do that so you don't have to do your job. Would you go to a bar with an automated bartender?
Good Job Lady, Am impressed with your customer serving experience! Are all Starbucks employees trained the same way as you! , I mean there are some store you may never go back again its like they are giving you a free coffee, For God Sake they are mean and having a pissing face am like just go home & spare the day for the rest !
@delsiza Sadly, i know that there are stores out there that disappoint people, but due to the size of any large corporation, there will be employees like that. Starbucks or not, there will be extraordinary customer service and horrible customer service where we wonder why they're doing this to themselves. So glad i work for Starbucks! Love how they pay my medical, dental, vision, life insurance etc and all of this semester's tuition & textbooks :D
@Akhockeyman19 I will no longer respond to your posts, but if you do reply any of my comments at all, don't forget about this: "Feedback's part of the experience, and when done with respect" & "we do not permit hate speech" (YouTube is for the Community) because your "sea of retards" isn't worded as the most respectful and loving. PS: I was trained on a direct & spring piston lever machine; then la marzocco, verissimo, and mastrena. Baristas are customer service based at heart; not hating.
@aramis1603 That's ok just proves your defeat:) So then your doubley at fault for selling out to a shit company that's bastardized the coffee industry to their own image;) It's seems you've been fully brainswashed by the starbucks propaganda machine. Try me youtube will laugh their asses off at you:D I've complained about much worse & had nothing done so go ahead buddy. Lastly I'm allowed to hate on somebody who is helping bastardize my passion. While I'm hating the Itlians are laughing at you.
