this laptop is awsome exept the gay core on it i got mine with a dual core 2ghz , gt130m but the dual core makes game so difficult , i wanna upgrade but i cant do it myself and ther eis way too much illigal software on my pc to just bring it in O:

No the resolution is 1920 X 1080. i have the same computer at that resolution and it looks like mine. 1366x768 is way bigger icons ans everything else

Shield the ribbon cable with high temp thin foil tape and increase the surface area of the existing foil ground pad that it rests on. I also secured the ribbon cable to the ground pad with strips of foil tape. I covered the metal sides of the LIF connector with Kapton tape to insulate it. Next, I covered the kapton with foil to shield and ground it. You dont want to cause anything to short out on the foil tape that is being added. Avoid adding foil to areas near the exposed motherboard.

I came up with a working fix for this problem. I added shielding and expanded the ground pad on the base and extended the foil wrap closer to the ends of the ribbon cable. I posted a fix on the HP board.

@sealteam4combat the hdx 16t has been discontinued. the question is between the dv6t and the studio xps. It depends on what deals you can get and what specs you like better, both are fantastic laptops, but the better deal fluctuates from month to month

Sorry, it can't. The i5 uses a different interfae than the core 2 duo.

You can, however, purchase an upgraded core 2 duo for it.  You can buy a core 2 d0 2.8ghz for about $350, and a 3.06 for about $550

i have same machine with bit lower configuration,i can play crisis on medium with fraps about 30-35 fps.bateery life for standard is perfect,even working with normal applications max 2,5h.i had vista os on it but doing dj stuff had to downgrade to windows xp.reason was no drivers for my dj hardware,unfortunately there is no drivers for fingerprint reader and some audio card functions.very good laptop,very nice layout of buttons,i am glad to have it

They discontinued this laptop. and it really is a matter of prefererence. This laptop has more bells and whistles, including the backlit keyboard, but it is more expensive and weights a little more with less battery life. The dv6t can come with intel's new i7 core mobile processor and a better video card, which destroys this laptop.

So. if you can even find this laptop now, it is really now much money you have and what specs you need for the money

had a problem when the computer goes crazy cuz it thinks the touchpad mediasmart buttons are going crazy

the heat thing can be sorted by buying a cooling pad.

you're probably having a driver error. reinstall the driver. if that doesn't work, contact hp. maybe the hardware went bad.

Funny, I bought this exact laptop but returned it. Couldn't stand the broken knobs, and touch-sensitive buttons generally suck anyway for essential functions like volume control.

Funny. i love this laptop. it has been absolutely amazing.

had some issues with the touch buttons when i bought it, as stated in the vid :P, but hp has released sufficient fixes for it now. And what knobs?

Great that HP released the proper software fixes. Two other aspects I didn't like: exterior is fingerprint-prone, and the 'flair'. :) I ended up with a cheapie Dell Studio but it's also a powerful workhorse. Aside from touch-buttons that do not light up until pressed, it's perfect.

yes. but those "buttons" can't be seen in the dark.  the only thing in lighting that sometimes gets obnoxious is the blaring hp logo on the back of the display, i might take it apart and sever the connectors

the gt 130m is significantly better than the 9600m gt. and it has lower current consumption, meaning better battery life, get it over the 9600m gt, it's worth the extra $100

But looking at the required specs, the video card will run it just fine, it depends on the processor you want.

If you get the core 2 duo 2.53ghz than it might run on high a little laggy, but will run on medium just fine.

Get the 2.66ghz core to duo or higher, than it will do better

NOTE: The disfunctional touch sensitive buttons are a result of driver updates. Download the drivers from the HP website and the buttons will work but the manufacturer drivers are usually outdated.

I just bouth one with almost the same specs as yours but for 890 with tax. HP had a 250$ rebate and I found a coupon that gave an additional 250$ rebate (sweet!).

Question, does this brings the little remote control? Also, how long does the batery last? Ive heard it doesnt last that much, not that I really care, but just for knowing.

that is sick, in the Netherlands we pay for an almost similar model (only dif. is we get a 500gb @ 7200rpm HD) for 1200€. That is 1750 DOLLAR! No offense, i would love to live over there! America is cheap, we would live like milionaires :P

Americas Army 3 is so buggy right now it's no good on any system. In fact I was very dissapointed being a AA fan. I hope the updates help. Otherwise this laptop will own AA3.

yes the fan turns on, but that it just fine. it's the same with every computer that i hear start up.

infact, i think it's safer. what if you start up your computer without it and it's really hot? the cpu frys itself out in 2 minutes without a fan.

HP's are notoriious for the bad design in trapping in heat.

I chose a configuration for ths HP that's close to Gateway's fx line and the FX line beats the specs and the price specifically the Gateway P 7807u FX

when the laptop is flush against a table with a plastic table cloth, almost completely restricting the fan intake, it does overheat

but when i comfortable prop it up an inch or less on a book, completely comfortable, it stays well within the recommended safe level for a workload

I need to make a new, updated video. but through very strict and careful conservation I can squeeze 4 hours out of the 6 cell battery, that's putting into sleep mode every time the lecture goes into a tangent (it resumes very fast), network off, screen and dim as it can get, that stuff.

the 12 cell. at least 185% the life of the 6 cell. i need to test it, but if you're very careful to conserve, i don't see why you can't get 7-8 hours out of it
