And not a case of flipped negative exposure because the writing on the pads them self example for the start select were normal not mirrored... did they use to release two styles of controllers in japan? perhaps for right and left handed? or just a random prototype may have been made flopped?
I don't know why so many people liked the GC controller, yes it was quite comfortable but the D-Pad killed it for me, odd placement and just too damn small. My thumb is way too big for that thing. Try entering something like the old konami code on that d-pad.. impossible if you are over the age of 7

But as for ATi nothing is built in Canada, researched in Canada or developed in Canada. Perhaps the Canadian headquarters or employees just do warranty, RMA or tech support stuff?
The gamecube was such a good system. With titles like Super Smash Bros Melee and Mario Kart you couldn't really go wrong. The only disappointment was the lack of 3rd party support. I have the original purple one and still works to this day.

What made the Gamecube better than the PS2 was really not only the controller and the convenience,but also the graphics.The graphics are okay on the PS2,but the Gamecube has so much more detail in it's graphics.
The system doesnt have to be powerful ro be good, but if if u want to know the specs, GC had a 500MH prossessor that could overclock to 10 gigaflops because of the 128 bit adress range. The PS2 only had a 294MH prossessor and could overclock to 7 gigaflops. Its weird. When i go to gamestop, used gamecubes are 30$ and PS2s are 60 or 70. Must be the dvd playback on ps2 that makes it more pricy.
I really loved the Gamecube controller, it was just so comfortable on your hands. It almost felt it molded on to them. So far I haven't found any other controller like that.
It doesn't matter how powerful a system is. Look at all the powerful systems that failed throughout the 90's. Gcube was nice and had some great games. But people forgot that nintendo is more geared towards the younger gamers. The PS2 was for the older or more mature gamers out there, even though the cube had some adult titles also. It all depends on how well game developers utilize the tech they are working with. take some time and the game can be great, rush it and well, hope for the best

The whole reason Resident Evil 4 looked so much better on the Gamecube(not that PS2 looks like shit) is simply because there's so much more detail in the picture.I mean,really,I like a balance of smooth graphics and a ton of detail.

I love the cube. I have 3. I have the broadband adapter, Component cables for 480p mode, Gameboy advance player, and SD media launcher which alows me to run homebrew apps/ Emulators written for the Wii and GC. Also have a modded case that fits full size DVD-R disks for runing disk backups off the media launcher.
The third slot on the back is for component cables to get 480p mode. I have a set of these cables, they are rare and expensive, and no third party ones exist.
Just bought a Gamecube (indigo) for $6.99 at Value Village. I have no games to test it but it boots and the rom-drive motor does try to load. Can't wait to try Timesplitters 2 on it once I get it in the mail!

Yeah X-BOX had a 8.4GB HD stock making the need for a memory card useless BUT you could still buy one and use it in the controller. I guess if you wanted to play a game at home and continue it at a Friends you still needed a memory card.
My favourite thing about the gamecube was the controller. It works so well with the wii virtual console N64 games. My favourite game for the gamecube is Paper Mario TTYD.
Actually, the discs were small to cut down on people pirating their games, however that didn't really work out, so when they made the Wii, they made it read discs backwards, making them near impossible to rip. A Gameboy player is something I recommend for someone who owns GBC games but has a DS, I own an SP but trying to see the screen is hell, and I have to say the better Zelda games are on the GBC so without my player I'd be missing out. XD
Wow great video - I respect the Game Cube heaps but Twisted Metal Black, Silent Hill 2, Shadow of the Colossus and the incredible God of War just left everyone for dead. Plus I used it for a CD player and DVD player when I was a poor Uni Student. I know people will disagree but Silent Hill 2 is so underrated - it doesn't have the muscle but hell it rivals RE 4 as a relentless Nightmare.
Gamecube ftw! Ps2 just wasnt great in my opinion, crappy controller, lackluster games, it just didnt feel fluid playing it, it was alien and kind of laggy in button response. Way overpopular, and gamecube was a much more powerful, innivative, and fun system. Also the ATI graphics processor was amazing with good games, unlike those shitty EA ps2 ports that got compressed onto the gc disk to save money.

I understand RE4 was built very closely to the GC's abilities. But the fact is the PS2 has limited texture RAM. The GC more RAM and more advanced texture hardware. Point is the graphics on GC were hardly shit. If more good games really took advantage of its hardware most people would know that. That's all politics. PS2 was the big seller, most GC games are horrible PS2 ports. I don't do politics. I look at the system and what it was capable of. Period.

That's the point. It was underrated. Nintendo didn't put the advertising into it they should have or the exclusive's like a proper Mario 64 sequal everyone wanted. Most people didn't know what it was capable of until RE4 came out. It was the best looking console game at the time. Almost every magazine gave it game of the year too. It came out a year later on PS2 but still looked better on the GC. That game alone shows what the GC was capable of.

Wii is better than 360 and Ps3 because Nintendo have actually put some thought into a different controller and it takes a long time to die (it's a great thermal insulator. sometimes when i accidentally leave it on all day it never gets too hot)

The whole reason Resident Evil 4 looked so much better on the Gamecube(not that PS2 looks like shit) is simply because there's so much more detail in the picture.I mean,really,I like a balance of smooth graphics and a ton of detail.

I wish I owned a GameCube instead of a Ps2. I missed out on so many great titles, like Super Mario Sunshine, Starfox Assault, Metroid Prime, Kirby Air Ride, etc. I'm gonna pick one up soon though. It's too bad that the only place I can go is "shudder" GAMESTOP. I would do ebay, but can't right now, lol

Yeah I had a ps2 instead of a gamecube too. I wish I would have had the gamecube instead though. I have one now and it's worth it. I wish I could have had it back when it was popular.

Lovely console that I sadly neglected back when it was in it's prime. I was too busy with Xbox and PS2, but now I re-discovering some of the gems I missed.
Metroid Prime, Mario Sunshine, Wind Waker, F-Zero GX, Beach Spikers, Resi games, Eternal Darkness, Billy Hatcher etc etc! Great games :-)

I love the cube. I have 3. I have the broadband adapter, Component cables for 480p mode, Gameboy advance player, and SD media launcher which alows me to run homebrew apps/ Emulators written for the Wii and GC. Also have a modded case that fits full size DVD-R disks for runing disk backups off the media launcher.

The third slot on the back is for component cables to get 480p mode. I have a set of these cables, they are rare and expensive, and no third party ones exist.

Just bought a Gamecube (indigo) for $6.99 at Value Village. I have no games to test it but it boots and the rom-drive motor does try to load. Can't wait to try Timesplitters 2 on it once I get it in the mail!

Yeah X-BOX had a 8.4GB HD stock making the need for a memory card useless BUT you could still buy one and use it in the controller. I guess if you wanted to play a game at home and continue it at a Friends you still needed a memory card.

My favourite thing about the gamecube was the controller. It works so well with the wii virtual console N64 games. My favourite game for the gamecube is Paper Mario TTYD.

Actually, the discs were small to cut down on people pirating their games, however that didn't really work out, so when they made the Wii, they made it read discs backwards, making them near impossible to rip. A Gameboy player is something I recommend for someone who owns GBC games but has a DS, I own an SP but trying to see the screen is hell, and I have to say the better Zelda games are on the GBC so without my player I'd be missing out. XD

Wow great video - I respect the Game Cube heaps but Twisted Metal Black, Silent Hill 2, Shadow of the Colossus and the incredible God of War just left everyone for dead. Plus I used it for a CD player and DVD player when I was a poor Uni Student. I know people will disagree but Silent Hill 2 is so underrated - it doesn't have the muscle but hell it rivals RE 4 as a relentless Nightmare.

Gamecube ftw! Ps2 just wasnt great in my opinion, crappy controller, lackluster games, it just didnt feel fluid playing it, it was alien and kind of laggy in button response. Way overpopular, and gamecube was a much more powerful, innivative, and fun system. Also the ATI graphics processor was amazing with good games, unlike those shitty EA ps2 ports that got compressed onto the gc disk to save money.

LOL Okay? I never said it was more popular than PS2. PS2 donimated this whole era. Why? Hrm lets see, plays DVD's, backwards compatible with PS1, PS1 was already super popular. But the graphics didn't suck on the GC. Technically the system was more powerful than PS2 and RE4 is proof. Read any review. The graphics are best on the GC even though it came out later on PS2. RE4 has the BEST graphics of any console game at the time PERIOD. So how can you seriously say the graphics suck?

I understand RE4 was built very closely to the GC's abilities. But the fact is the PS2 has limited texture RAM. The GC more RAM and more advanced texture hardware. Point is the graphics on GC were hardly shit. If more good games really took advantage of its hardware most people would know that. That's all politics. PS2 was the big seller, most GC games are horrible PS2 ports. I don't do politics. I look at the system and what it was capable of. Period.

That's the point. It was underrated. Nintendo didn't put the advertising into it they should have or the exclusive's like a proper Mario 64 sequal everyone wanted. Most people didn't know what it was capable of until RE4 came out. It was the best looking console game at the time. Almost every magazine gave it game of the year too. It came out a year later on PS2 but still looked better on the GC. That game alone shows what the GC was capable of.

Nintendo has incredible build quality. My DS hinge broke yet it still played. I leave my Wii on for hours and it doesn't even get warm.

Wii is better than 360 and Ps3 because Nintendo have actually put some thought into a different controller and it takes a long time to die (it's a great thermal insulator. sometimes when i accidentally leave it on all day it never gets too hot)
