  • Um since when did Canada have aircraft carriers? Last time I checked my country's navy was mainly composed of frigates and subs and smaller vessels not aircraft carriers....unless I'm wrong which I'm sure we don't have any....

  • Why is everyone fighting,at the end of the day it doesn`t matter what country you are if you attempt to invade Canada you will be fucked over, and hard at that.

  • just goes to show how boss our navy is

  • Disregarding the jackasses posting here... there are some of us Americans who actually don't have our heads up our asses, and recognize what Canada has done.

You've fought at our side in almost every major war in the past century, and while we were still twiddling our thumbs, being isolationist during WW2, you Canucks were already over in Europe, fighting in the Battle of Britain. You might not be a military powerhouse, but you never back down from a fight.

Respect to Canada, from the USA.

  • You spelt Canadian wrong. Eh?

  • ummmm 1 thing......... canada doesn't own air craft carriers

  • @94yoyo um 1 other thing don't say things that you don't know about other countries and for your information Canada has 4 aircraft carriers so ya you pretty much just got trolled on

  • @MegaBBgunmaster i'm talkin about now

  • @MegaBBgunmaster Canada does not own any conventional aircraft carriers. Our destroyers deploy two helicopters each and out frigates one helicopter each. Total 15 ships, 18 helicopters at sea plus spare helicopters. Currently our Sikorsky CH-124 Sea King helicopters are being phased out in favour of newly built Sikorsky CH-148 Cyclone helicopters.

  • @MegaBBgunmaster Uh.... What? We don't have 4 Aircraft carriers :S

  • To include american aircraft carriers on this vid was not a good idea. Anyway... Canada has no aircraft carriers.. and it´s been ages since they had one. And if they had one now, they would be the country with less population to have aircraft carriers.

  • ``If I had Canadian soldiers, American technology and British officers I would rule the world`` - Winston Chuchill.

  • @BostonCreamDonut Oui, mais tu gouvernerais le monde...avec ton cigare dans l'cul !!!

  • Canada was in WW2 before America, we didn't need you Americans, the Russian's were going to win anyway, only reason you joined is because you knew the Russian's would take over all of europe, not just germany. That's the real truth !!!!!

  • @sutton123454 Actually no. On December 10, 1941, the German Reich and the Kingdom of Italy declared war on the United States.

  • @tmenator you're a complete idiot, Germany did not declare war on America till pearl habour happened and Canada was already in the war with England and France when they declared war on Germany when they invaded Poland.

  • @sutton123454 Perhaps you should read your posts before sending them. You have just embarrassed yourself.

  • @tmenator im not American but (tell me if im rong) but im pretty sure germany never offishily declared war on U.S.A just Japan

  • @MegaBBgunmaster your wrong they did.

Ahahahahaha!!!

  • great title lol

  • i heard there was a time where canada only had 2 ships for navy where ingland had more then 150

  • @shoeib123 Get a fucking life. First of all, it's England, not ingland.

Piss off. We have just as good a military as any.

  • @MrLaughinghyena calm down dude im in no way making fun of canada i love canada to death i will give my life to canada pertect our great nation, but truth is truth this was like in the 1800s and since we have come along way as the third greatest navy, a proud canadian, you need to calm down you are becoming more like the americans

  • @shoeib123 Alright, sorry friend.

    You got proud right :D

  • @MrLaughinghyena thank you

  • @shoeib123 :D

  • @shoeib123 In 1910, the Canadian Naval Service was formed with two cruisers, one on each coast. They were to take over the duties in Canada previously performed by the Royal Navy.

  • I agree with most of the positive comments on this video. However on minute 2:15 that is clearly an American nuclear aircraft carrier, one of the Nimitz class. You can even see the F-14 Tomcats on its deck so it is an older picture since the USA does not us the F-14 Tomcat fighter anymore. Other than that good video.

  • @Trimtank I think the emphasis was not on the carrier but on the two Canadian warships accompanying it.

  • good canadian band too, Billy Talent

    good job

  • @OlderG0ds We burnt your white house down in 1812.. But since were allies, and will be for a very long time, who gives a shit. how about we all go kill some terrorists instead? :D

  • Nimitz class carrier of the US navy shown in the sequence therefor not a Canadian vessel

  • The canadian fleet of antisubmarine Corvettes was not fast at all. They are very very slow (17-18 knots) and some even had logs in place of guns because they weren't completely fitted out. They rolled really bad even in calm seas but they were very seaworthy and they protected convoys well. They shot depth charges and had sonar. Large ships in the north Atlantic were hard to maintain, try chopping ice off of a fancy cruiser or battleship.

  • at 2:13, this is an US NAVY aircraft carrier, with VF-84 squadron F-14, which means this ship is either the CVN-68 Nimitz or the CVN-71 Theodore Rosevelt.

  • we never had F-14s

  • @wowkidlrn2play ...If your american... We burnt down you white house in 1812.. Don't piss us off again.

  • @crazyminidude If you're Canadian, we burnt down your whole city of Toronto in 1812, don't piss us off again.

  • @OlderG0ds Wow, you didn't read about the 1812 war I see. Yes, the U.S. invaded Canada, but got bounced out hard. Canada captured Detroit without firing a shot (General Hull major fail). The US tried again, but couldn't take Kingston, so took York (now Toronto). They couldn't hold it so burned it. In reprisal Canada marched south, burned Buffalo and left a wide swath of cinders up to and including the White House. Madison took the treaty of Ghent eagerly to stop the beating.

  • @OlderG0ds omg really? dude that was 1812. not to mention the fact we burt the white house down. plus do you know how much both countries have chainged.

  • @crazyminidude Could you please do it again? With the politicians in it? Thank you.

  • @crazyminidude we also did it while we were drunk and had very little sense of how we were doing it. Imagine what would've happened if the FARMERS who had burnt it down were sober?

  • @crazyminidude Wrong. The British, who were stationed in Canada did. And who cares, Washington at the time was mostly just open country, and a few buildings under construction.

  • Comment removed

  • Canadain???? LOL

  • 2:11 is a Kitty-Hawk class (Improved-Forrestal) Supercarrier, most certainly NOT Canadian!!!

  • CANADA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yay

  • Go Canada,

respect for for all of you who have served!!!

  • i thought canada didn't have aircraft carriers.

  • @jesse78156

We dont, though in the past we did.

  • @HyperHeritic i heard that they might be buying some refurbished british aircraft carriers, not sure how true that is though.

  • Nope

  • Nope.avi

  • Does Canada really have an aircraft carrier?

  • @SantaFe19484 nope back in time yeah but nowadays we dont..the ships that look like a aircraft carrier is acctually a destroyer

  • @SantaFe19484 Canada had 3 aircraft carriers during and after the WW2. the last was HMCS Bonaventure. Decommissioned in 1970.

  • canada is weak y have a navy or army when u never been to war

  • @DimeWS89 Never been to war. Wake up. we are all over in Peace keeping missions. Libiya, Afghanistan etc. WEAK? ur funny.

  • @DimeWS89 check up on your history retard

  • @DimeWS89 Weak!!!? Never been to war? WWI, WWII, Korea and ho yeah Afghanistan. Please read up on your history before you say things like that. Canada had the second largest navy in the world after WWII. Ask any soldier that ever fought beside a Canadian and see what they have to say about them, some of the finest soldiers, sailors and airmen in the world. You don't have to be big to be good.

  • @DimeWS89 wow your a dumbass, do you have any idea how many times we've put our asses on the line for america, we even went to japan after they bombed pearl harbor, we fought both world wars, the korean war, afghanistan, helped a bit in iraq. just because we don't wave our guns in everyones faces like the yanks doesn't mean we're weak.

  • war is stupid and sad...even though i study it alot lol.

  • bullshit we dont have aircraft carriers

  • @lcserg87 We have in the past and the new aircraft carrier the UK is building is, once finished, going to be unused (budget cuts), so our military may make a deal, we use it and pay to keep it running, and if the UK goes to war we give it back.

  • @lcserg87

  • @lcserg87 hmcs worrior

  • @MegaWolfgang I think next election will ether be NDP are Conservative Party the liberals were slaughterd in the last election thank god but the NDP only has a chance if jack Layton stays alive and he has cancer I don't want the NDP there for the military in all but they only want peace keeping and the UN (fucking useless)

  • Nice Stuff

  • my cadets have the hmcs star its docked next to the haida

  • Honestly Canada had no Aircraft carriers back in WW2, but i think today they do!

  • @GameMaster2565 Canada has no Aircraft carriers at the moment, and wont for some time.

  • @HyperHeritic How come there are aircraft carrirers in a Canadian Navy video?

  • @GameMaster2565 That would be because either the ships accompanying it were Canadian or it was an American ship altogether. If you take a look at the official Canadian Navy website you can view for yourself what ships we posses.

  • @HyperHeritic I can tell you without a doubt the 4:01 picture is a US Nimitz class aircraft carrier. The accompanying ship(s) I presume, are Canadian.

  • @HyperHeritic The ship on the the far right is a Canadian Patrol Frigate, the one next to that is a USNS Oil Replenishsment ship and the one on the far right is USS Kitty Hawk. This was probably taken on the east coast as the the east coast navy paints their flight decks green, the west coast doesnt.

  • @GameMaster2565 Canada's last carrier (H.M.C.S. Bonaventure) was decommissioned after completing a 25 million dollar refit due to the election of Liberals in the late 1960s. Liberal disarmament continued and is reinstated every time they win a election. Maybe this time the CF will recover somewhat before they ever win again and screw things up.

  • @HyperHeritic because they are a stupid waste of money unless your business is destruction

  • The comments left by Canadians are really upsetting. Claiming that these photos are fake and that Canada played a small part in World War II is upsetting and veterans roll in their graves every time it's said. Some people spur out BS cause they don't know and because of internet rumors propagated mostly by Americas. I love South Park as much as the next guy, but seriously take your facts from the true annals and not tv shows. Fact is Canada commanded the 3rd largest navy in the world during WWII

  • @Fender869 i know its a shocker how misinformed soo many canadians are especialy in ww2, canada was the atlantic war, canadian warships were on the front during d-day guarding the fleet from U-boats. brrr i can go on, anyhow for other peeps wanting to know more their is a great documentry that talks about all party's in atlantic war "Convoy: War For The Atlantic" its posted here on youtube check it out.

  • @Baseshocks There are a lot of people who would never beleive that our Navy was never that big, but in fact at the end of WWII it was the 3rd largest )after the Untied States and Great britain) in the world : D.

Public knowledge of our own History and military is just embarassing... espesilly in our youth. After all, we're one of the few places that the United States failed to invade sucessfully. I will also be looking at that Documentry, as well.

  • @nooo8oooo forgot to mention also check out "Operation Apollo" on youtube too, its about canadas navel contribution to 9/11.

  • @Fender869

where oh where on Earth did you get that last statistic?! Do NOT confuse Navarchial ships with Merchant vessels!

  • @HelmutVillam The Merchant Navy was a real part of our war time effort as it was created, amassed and organize following the commonwealth's declaration of war in 1939. They had a training facility in Nova Scotia where they trained Merchant mariners. They suffered the highest casualties of the 4 branches of service. I dare you to tell a Veteran of the Merchant navy that he wasn't part of the war. Most keyboard jockey's have no idea the impact logistics had in the outcome of WW2

  • @HelmutVillam More stats for you, Canada had 332 ships in commission during WW2. Add 184 Merchant Navy supply ships and you end up with a total of 516 ships. These Merchant ships carried everything from weapons and ammo to scrap metal , oil and bearings etc all things used to help build/maintain weapons in EU. Read or reference anything you want, the RCN was considered the 3rd largest navy of the allied forces, just behind US and UK and 4th overall if you add the IJN in the mix.

  • @Fender869 i read up too by the end of the Atlantic, Canada was going to commit a force to help the Americans with Japan, although most of our fleet was made up of anti sub ships, they are small and fast, being that they are harder to hit by strike aircraft from jap carriers. But the U.S dropped the nukes and ended the war.

  • @Fender869 And landed on one of the worse D-day beachs...

  • @Fender869 dont listen to idiots. canada gave its all in ww2. we are all brothers and sisters. the yanks should realise this also. if it wisnae fur scotland, ireland and england ye widnae be there.......Haaaa! ahm bevvied, happy new year.

  • @Fender869 So true.

  • @coolnad oooohhhh im excited now

  • the bottom line is canadians contributed more man pwer per capita than onther other country in ww2, we fought the hardest battles and we were the first to west berlin and italy and only halted becauce american allies commander ordered us to so we could allow american forces the 3 days to catch up and steal the glory and distorte history.....FACT

  • The last Canadian Aircraft carrier was HMCS Bonnaventure and the only jets that ever operated off the Bonnie was the Banshee

  • @brehhah100 when did we have aircraft carriers?

  • @101andrewj ya that's called a world war!! Millions died, if there's a ww3, the cf will quadrupule in size.

  • @thehalomissions does that really matter? Canadas army is one of the best trained in the world...better so than the US, our army may not be big. But it casts a large shadow. Nobody fucks with our north...subs, destroyers, cf 18 super hornets and a military base all reside up there.

  • @onthewingshot our special forces are reanked number 3 in the world our subs are old british ones, the frigates are one of the best in the world for anti submarine work, fast very manouverable. we never had super hornets we had the F18B or canadian designation is CF188B. the super hornet (F18 E/F) is larger more capable aircraft.

F18 was never considered a great fighter but a good all around fighter bomber. F15 or F14 would have been better choices. F15se is what we should get now.

  • back in WW2 Canada had very large Navy also we did have aircraft carrier

  • @TheBagger57 3rd largest, but it was a corvette/frigate navy

we didnt have any major calibre naval guns in ww2 thats for sure....

and the canadian navy has never operated a battleship

we should however build 3 carriers, armed with JSF apaches and land forces

this is after reviving our shipbuilding industry by building... a new class of area air defence destroyers to replace our iroquois class, and then build new fast AOR's and then the joint support ships, then tackle the light carriers

  • I'm in the US Navy and on my last ship the USS Anzio CG-68 we received fuel from a Canadian oiler. I don't remember the name of it but man that crew was very professional and great people to hang out with in port.

  • @Grumpy7783 thats great to hear. i wish we had 1/8 of the boats you guys have. if anyone needed it more then the USA it would be Canada with our immense coastal borders and the numerous countries we reside next to, example, YOU crazy yanks and your nuke subs always using OUR northwest passage (lol), the crazy ivans, denmark, and the french with their little island next to north america that nobody seems to have ever heard about

  • @mattmatt115 LOL yeah.

  • @mattmatt115 if you think about it we have 1/10 their population 1/10 their budget wouldn't it be nice if we had 1/10 their military? roughly on the 1/10 of course.

  • We never had F-14s.

  • Canada doesnt have aircraft carriers, and we have never had the f-14...

  • @brehhah100 we used to have aircraft carriers. But i honestly don't know about f-14

  • @nooo8oooo i dont think weve ever had an aircraft carrier but we had the money to buy one but instead we bought some destroyers

  • @coolcracer Yeah, we've had several aircraft carriers :P Look up HMCS Bonaventure or HMCS Warrior

  • @nooo8oooo we had some aircraft carrier but we sold them to the US

but for the f-14 we never these plane

  • @nooo8oooo Don't forget HMCS Magnificent (CVL 21)

  • @nooo8oooo

Is that the HMCS Ontario at 4:10? What a beautiful ship. I realize that it is (was) ex-British.Speaking of beautiful ships, our own marine engineers and architects knew how to create not only very sea-worthy ships, but among the most beautiful, as well. I offer for your consideration the Mackenzie class destroyers.

  • we had aircraft carriers when we needed them.. but not anymore.. canadas millitary was much larger in 1945 then it is now.. canadas navy at the end of ww2 was 3rd largest in the world.. now we only have 15 active frigates, america has thousands of warships... but u cant hate on canada for this, the world is way over militarized.. and canada only uses what it needs, when the nazis wer up 2 no good, canadas millitary grew 25x larger in 1 year, and it would again if canada was ever in real danger

  • @coolcracer we still have money to buy carriers.... canada has a shitload of money to put in the the army, but seing as are man power isnt as high, we dont, and we do peace keeping lol. if we did have man power we could just spend out all our money and be as big as the us army :/

  • @TheHaloMissions cool also were not a war drivin country

  • @TheHaloMissions If it needed to our military could field and rotate one badass expeditionary force lacking attack helicopters! but instead we take in tamil tiger terrorist refuges by the 500 person boatload instead, and then we house them al in toronto give them grants to spring ahead of any hard working born and raised here canadian

this country is fucked my friend, and its government does NOT care about you any more then keeping you, or me around to pay our taxes while holding us back

  • @coolcracer In point of fact, we had two during Korea, and three, after

    didn't last very long though.

  • @coolcracer Well you wouldnt buy aircraft carriers without making sure you have something to back it up if the bad guy said hey im sinking your multi-billion dollar carriers now.... but our 3 destroyers and 12 frigates and just 1 carrier equates to our entire navy and that would be barely equivalent to just one us carrier battle group....

The russians had a good idea with the Kirov class, that is the second most powerful surface combatant in the water today.

  • @mattmatt115 we have ships in all U.S carrier fleets, and two of our frigates are capable of putting down a american carrier as proven in several war game exorcises.

  • @coolcracer in point of fact by the end of the Korean war we had three carriers, soon we will have carriers again, not like the the big american ones but smaller attack carries with the F-35 and helicopters (obviously) our navy is going to be overhauled like crazy soon, about bloody time!!

  • @coolcracer that sounds about right

  • @nooo8oooo almost got F14's. we were going to get irans F14 but the whole regime change thing happened. the carriers we had are no where near as modern as this as I recall they didn't even have angled decks. sad whgen you think about the military we used to have and whats left of it now.

  • @nooo8oooo brehhah's right, Only the US and Iran has ever flown 14's. You'll also notice just fore of the F-14 squadron is an EA-6B Prowler, another USN plane that Canada does not use. Furthermore both the HCMS Bonaventure and the HCMS Warrior were straight-deck carriers, while this carrier has the distinctive slanted landing deck of an American carrier. I checked with a friend who served on a US carrier, and he suspects the carrier is either the USS Kitty Hawk or USS Constellation.

  • @BrianBinOR Actually we had three carriers, and we usually have a ship presence in some of your carrier fleets. And its HMCS, Bonaventure-Warrior-Magnificent.

  • @Hawkeye323232 Fair enough, you had three, not two. Sorry about juxtaposing the letters, I wasn't trying to insult you. And I was never trying to discount the contribution or the capability of the Canadian Navy. I was merely pointing out that the carrier at 2:11 is NOT a Canadian carrier, it's American, and that the other commenters (yopur fellow Canadians, I believe) were correct in questioning its inclusion in a video about CANADIAN ships.

  • @BrianBinOR I wasn't offended or insulted, was just being a pest actually...sorry;)

  • @Hawkeye323232 No worries, I can be one myself.

  • @brehhah100 Canada has had three aircraft carriers: HMCS Warrior, HMCS Magnificent and HMCS Bonaventure. My father served on all three. He was on the Magnificent in Havana Harbour when I was born. I have a picture of the Warrior sailing under Lion's Gate Bridge in Vancouver in 1946.

  • Ya we had a carrier the Bonnie and thanks to liberals with Trudeau they sold it for scrap just after it had a major refit.....liberals are the worst thing in this country for the military

  • whyd we sell it couldnt we keep updating it and u think we will ever buy one again?

  • we had a carrier?

  • @busboy3232 More then one ^^. Do a little reading on the Royal Canadian Navy, ours was the 3rd (or mabye 4th i can't remeber) Largest in the world in the years after WW2

  • @nooo8oooo Great video, great music. Well done/

  • @nooo8oooo I recall learning years ago (in school) that at the end of the second world war we had the third largest navy and fourth largest air force.

  • @Panthiest it was :) if only it still was

  • @Panthiest

    Fourth strongest military too.

  • @Panthiest

Third only in terms of ship numbers and the vast majority were corvettes and destroyer escorts, along with 2 light cruisers, 2 escort carriers and several destroyers. However the RCN did escort up to 40% of the convoys heading to Britain. None too shabby for a navy that started the war with 6 destroyers. ;-)

  • @nooo8oooo Hopefully by 2014 or 2020 we'll get some Mistral Class helicopter carriers from the french, that's being optimistic though.

  • @busboy3232 yeah until Trudeu scrapped it and never made plans to build or buy a new one. The liberals have been screwing the Armed Forces for a long time

  • @busboy3232 we had about 3. The magnificent, the bonaventure, and i think the other one was called warrior. But don't quote me on that.

  • the navy is cool but im an infantry man through and through

  • @MrBullseyeProduction if we had the budget...... and the imperialist policy of the usa...... YOU COULD BE A MARINE!!!!!!

  • hmcs boneaventure great pix

  • Now is great time to join navey, when Afganistan mission ends in 2011, all that extra cash is going into the navy, hope thats why stephen harper is waiting so he can get the 4 supply ships and plans on distant future for amphibious assult ship. Join now you will be in perfect possion to move up the ranks.

  • @asdfgeyhhgjfuhfdgrta I hope we get those assult ships. With 3 we could, theoreticly, land a brigade on hostile shores. That would be a first for Canada. :) Hopefully I can command one of the tanks in that invasion force.

love you soldiers, sailors, and airmen. You do us all proud. God Bless.

  • @russellrush101 it wouldn't be a first. We landed a TON of trops at Juno beach during D-Day. Our assault gained the most ground the quickiest out of all the attacks : ). But I admire your patriotism. God Bless all of our Forces, past and present.

  • @russellrush101 uhh... what about june 6th 1944, when canada landed several brigades onto the most hostile shore in the history of warfare, fortress europe... those boats are a stupid waste of money for a nation like canada, who has no business involving landing troops on foriegn beaches... we have our allies for that, and if we get into ww3, then we will build them, until then probably not

  • i was there did that got the scars the tee shirt no are ground forces are a bunch of guys full of heart with second rate equipment we buy what the Americans are done with or is out dated come on m110 are from the 60s updated or not and them m16 or c7, give me back my FN any day 7.62 mm of stopping power like the mk47 but better

  • no we sold are air craft carrier to Italy its the Canadian way if its good get rid of it if its crap buy it

  • @poet2dreamer

    The Canadian way?

Take a look at our ground forces.

  • no

1 we sold it to india

2we sold it beacause it was 35 years old

  • This song kicks ass, what's it called?

  • its an intsramental of "The Navy Song" by Billy talent

  • @nooo8oooo

Ugh, I hate Billy Talent, but I love this song.

As long as there's no singing I guess.

  • @nooo8oooo

Where the fuck can I get this version of the song?

  • does Navy have aircraft??

  • we used to, and theres plans on building more
