How is that NOT hip hop?? Yous do realize this is a new generation? we aint living in the 1970s or whatever time Hip Hop originated from... There is no Formal structure towards Hip Hop. Its too subjective.. Some of yous are judging and saying this and that as if "hip hop dances" need to have certain things in it to be classified as hip hop. Its not Ballet or Jazz. its more open where styles can be incorporated... That IS a Hip Hop routine.

and because of these competitions, people believe that what they see is hip hop, when clearly its not.

in the whole routine, i havent seen a drop of hip hop, dance and music wise.

you definition of hip hop has been evolved to many different genres of dance which have hip hop moves changed up a bit with different styles of handling them e.g. being sharp or being lanky etc... your definition is outdated. if you were to do hip hop dancing from ages ago which is basically one style you wouldn't come anywhere. judges do look for variety.

I'm also a kiwi - and two of my dance teachers went to worlds to compete last year. Hip hop is culture, its more than just a dance. It's different all over the world, depending on where your from.There is no one type of hip hop, it's politically incorrect to say that this isn't hip hop, when in NZ, this is just one style of hiphop, it's just a bit different.
