amen. i don't even smoke, but why does it matter. The government shouldn't be able to say, "Oh, well, we have control over you." That's wrong. There is no trust left. We should be able to trust people with things like alcohol and pot. It's sad that some people's idea of a good time can end in jail time just because the government thinks it is dangerous. To me, any lyrics that gets the crowd pumped is a good one. I've never had a problem if the thousands of people around me were stoned, at least there was thousands upon thousands of people gathered together in the name of love and peace. Drastically different from, say, a rock concert where the people in front routinely use empty (or full) beer bottles as cudgels.

By far, among my favorite songs -ever-. It's just so...perfect.

Couldn't have said it better myself. It's weird for someone who doesn't smoke pot(anymore). I seem to always have someone passing me a joint at DMB shows,people who smoke pot are very sharing. I say "no thankyou" they say pass it down.The show goes on everyones happy

He's referring to Mary J. (weed). Although he doesn't engage very much in it, he wrote the lyric in this song and has keep it ever since. The audience always cheers no matter where they are. (And then of course those few concert goers who have managed to sneak some in light up. One of my least favorite characteristics of the concert.)
