It's interesting to see that farmers these days still don't understand that without predators such as foxes and wolves in the forest, rabbits would over run their land. There's still a battle going on about how foxes steal their chickens but that wouldn't happen if they locked the chickens up. And domesticated dogs attack chickens and sheep more often than wild animals.

i have the Feature films for families edit. some scenes it was obvious that they were edited. like karaks death, i noticed he had a different voice. i have also found out that the company for the american releases edited other movies, such as "Scamper the penguin". the box for the movie "the seventh brother" also said it was edited, but i don't know what was changed.

How strange to hear that there was a watered down version of this floating around. I guess I was really lucky that the version that I had was the original. I absolutely hate when they edit originals!! Like with The Last Unicorn. I bought TWO different DVD versions, trying to get one that was uncut. They were both edited. Don't destroy emotional moments with editing. It ruins the original and besides, it isn't healthy to shelter children from everything even remotely sad.

Okay, what the hell did I have as a kid?! That dying speech was REALLY butchered in the VHS I had! It was hardly a dying speech and more of a pep talk on how everything will be alright! I remember that well! Gods...I didn't know it was censored that badly...This version is WAY better!

I have this movie on vhs and apparently certain parts were cut out or re-voiced to be more "kid friendly". In that version the uncle said he only pretended to get shot and he just needed to rest. When I saw this...I was shocked. At least it's more realistic and I can understand better.

I've seen them too, whether they're pigs or birds or flowers. They've been on almost every part I've watched; it's wierd. I don't have an idea what they might be, and I can't remember if it was on the VHS version I watched a long time ago.

I bet it's an interactive "learn more about it" feature on the DVD - notice that they pop up when we see a particular animal, you probably highlight it, click on it, and get some educational info about that animal or whatever. But it's probably in Hungarian.
