To the poster of this video. Elvis actually recorded his vocals at the hotel room he was staying at in Nashville. The band recorded the background track at RCA studio's in Nashville but Elvis was upset that day and stayed in his hotel room at which he requested the engineer to bring the reel-to-reel recorder along with a small mixing board and microphone to his room. With the lights off in the hotel room is how he recorded these vocals.
God, this song is so heart wrenching. It reminds me of the one true love of my life. She is now married with kids, but this song always reminds me of her. I still miss her after all of this time.
I've always wondered why we don't hear more of Elvis on the radio. Even the "Oldies" stations don't play him much. It's always the same 3 or 4 of his songs never gems like this song and many of the others he recorded.
Jackie, THANK YOU SO MUCH for posting INDESCRIBABLY BEAUTIFUL songs by Elvis along with stunning images... This one is FANTASTIC... I am speechless... ♫♪♫♪♫
Hi... I have the song listed as "B" Side to Fools Fall in Love
Cannot se this as a Hotel Room Recording, unless the Jordaonaires & Backing Quartet & Musicians in with Him :: Sure Must have been Crowded
But if you listen to LP version's & the 45 Main there are Variations So could well be he sang in Hotel room as Demo & then went into Studio to Record It
A man with a true gift for us , has given a lot of enjoyment and pleasure, he really could put meaning into all he sang and sadly there will never be another Elvis ,no one can sing like him ,Thank you Elvis , you are Truly the KING
I first heard this song several years ago on a radio program that played only Elvis for one hour every Sunday night. This song is so beautiful (and sad) and I can't listen to it enough. Beautiful love song.
This is one of my many favorites by Elvis. I also recommend Tomorrow is a Long Time and Such a Night and Tell Me Why which was also recorded by Gale Storm.
love listening to his music, such a talented man. You know Frank Sinatra was told in his early days, "frank your best the best singer theres ever been and ever will be". Little did he know elvis would come along years later xD
@Blessed2beIrish What Sinatra said about Rock 'N' Roll was an absolute disgrace. Sinatra was nothing but a bullying Mafia type thug whose vocal range was very limited, to say the least. His style and phrasing may have been good, but there are hundreds or more singers better than him. It was his orchestras that made his music what it was.
@Iancrockert I agree almost 100% with what you say here. I'm 68 and was exposed to music my folks listened to fm 30's, 40's. I love Sinatra's music esp the albums he did after Ava finally left for good... Where Are You?, Only The Only, In the Wee Small Hours and maybe 2 others I can't name right now. Sinatra knew his voice was limited, as did Elvis by the way. I was 13 when Elvis smashed on the scene and I was in love.
i know they say that he didn't sing this song for priscilla but you can only imagine how much this song made him think of her. It just pulls at your heart as you listen to it.
I had this played at my wife's funeral service today. It is such a wonderful song, sung beautifully and tenderly sung by one of the all time great singers of the 20th century.
Truly beautiful and touching; just shows the range and diversity this man had... so sad that so many of his wonderful songs never get played on our radio stations.
To me, songs like this song are just as much the epitome of presley as the [obvious ] songs are. Once again, another classic that , due to the pathetic radio media,NEVER gets played, and is not known by the general public !!
I really would like to hear Elvis' less well songs like this one played on the radio. The emotion he displays here is quite fantastic, especially when listened to via headphones. Another song, Power of my love, should also be played via headphones as you can here Elvis laughing with the band as he's really enjoying singing it
I listened a radio program yesterday and i recognize Elvis's voice and remember some words of the song, now in home I search to find this beautiful song. Always and Ever. The King, Elvis.
Inspirational, and Compelling. Elvis Presley recorded this song in a hotel with a portable recorder. With him were Red West, and Jerry Schilling. Elvis was upset for some reason and decided he didnt want to record at the studio. Elvis had to get into the right set of mind to record if he had anybody to distract him he wouldnt record. In this case he ended up singing this beautiful song in a hotel room with the recorder set up in the middle of the room.
my fav elvis song, my mum introduced me to it in the mid 60's when i was 6, still puts the hair on my neck up, much missed and never forgotten, there is only one king of pop and he was not a kiddy fiddler like jackson
This has got to be the saddest song he has ever sung, yet he sings it with such feeling. I played this constantly when I first lost my husband. It always moves me deeply
Im 26. Ive ben an Elvis fan since i was about 10. When i was a schoolkid i'd save up my pocket money (allowance to the americans!) to buy Elvis CDs. That was all i ever bought. Don't worry. I've listened to Elvis all my lifetoo. I'm American, live 200 miles from Memphis, and was teased horribly in school for listening to him, and he was still living when I went to school!

This is such a very magical, passionate, overlooked and underrated song. It definitely should have been a #1 hit for King Elvis. It's always been one of my 10 most favorite songs that Elvis ever recorded. There's definitely no possible way that anyone could sing this gem as well or better than Elvis did. Love this song, R.I.P.
You are missed.
Went to see him in 75. Best Birthday gift ever.
He was so kind. God gave him a special gift.
We are so lucky to still listen to his music. Play it in my car every day.
