  • I have this now on my virtural console. I owned the original n64 cartridge as well. I'm nigh unbeatable in all version of Tetris Attack/Panel de Pon becuse I've played the series and nearly all its iterations for almost 20 years (i'm 23 and I started around 6 with GB Tetris Attack). I'm just that good. If you have planet puzzle league for DS, I can supply you with my FC.

  • lol i remember my mom's friend gave me and my sister this game for the n64 a LONG time ago. my friend called me a nerd cause i kept beating her, and omg i remember a 10min match in very hard, i was SO surprised that i even won xD. btw, you're actually pretty good.

  • you are a bit slow, but you don't stink

  • yeah i remmeber getting this game for christmas. now i hold on to this like a keepsake, because its hard to find now :(

  • is there a way to play other people online on this

  • Not at this moment.

  • your the one who does the videos of pokemon battle revolution

  • in the firts try you fail but in the second try you made it.i can download that rom free

  • I'd rather you have the real version, either N64 or Virtual Console. Otherwise, Nintendo won't have the money to make new games in the future.

  • Bleh, they already made their money off of pokemon. They don't make any money off actual N64 games anyway(assuming you don't buy it at major store).

  • its funny, they had to make the animation and graphics, but what they already had (the voice actors) was the worst part, the graphics look actually like the anime originals.

  • The voices, both from players and Pokemon, are one of my favorite things of this game actually. It's why I prefer it to Tetris Attack and Ultimate Puzzle League.

  • Oh yeah, you're a pretty damn good player for making it that far, by the way! Practice makes perfect, keep it up 'cause you can only get better! Though Tracey, Team Rocket and Ritchie get to be a real pain later on, takes forever (and a massive amount of luck) to get past them, hahah!

  • Hmm, I have the exact same game but the graphics look slightly different. Mine is also the N64 version which is what confuses me so much. It's not such a huge difference, the blocks flash more when you "solve" them, lol. Maybe because I have the European version of it? Gah! It's so puzzling! Which is very fitting for the game, har har corny joke

  • Perhaps you have them set to the Panel de Pon shapes rather than the Gym Badges. Their animations are different.

  • *sniff* Why did I get rid of this........

  • k-k-k-keep on tryin!

Nice video though. If I weren't playing Puzzle Quest I would definitely try this game again!

  • Gary's evil cackling was creeping me out.

    Also, his catchphrase is annoying.

Anyway, nice job, there. I remember going to a friend's house, and they owned this game. I was all right at it.

  • Everybody starts out better than I am at this. Panel de Pon is probably the game I'm worst at.

  • i bought this game when it came out lol

  • how'd you record something off of the n64? O_o it's so old lol

  • By having a Nintendo 64 and something that can record off of it.

  • you plug it in at the back or in the controller slots?

  • A video capture device is designed for general TV-related things. They have outlets for audio/video cables meant for a TV. In this case, they're the yellow, white, and red plugs.

  • You had a great start there! This game looks pretty awesome. I'm considering getting it on VC now because of you.

  • This game actually looks pretty cool. I may get it on VC.

But if you, who is probably much better at puzzle games than me, takes 2 gos to do the games first battle, this games later stuff must be hard as nails.

  • This IS the later stuff. It's the Very Hard difficulty, which is unockable after you finish Easy, Normal, and Hard.

  • Ah, that explains it. I'll get it then. Are you continuing with this, or is it a one off?

  • I was hoping for feedback from Case, which is also why I haven't uploaded anything after this. But I guess not, so it will be a one-off.

  • By the way, do you know the name of that song that plays while Gary is monologuing before the battle?

  • I don't, actually. But most of the songs from the story mode is from the "2BA Master" soundtrack.

  • Well, thanks, I am now in the process of finding it. Surely you can't blame me for downloading this for free, bearing in mind the CD is probably out of production.

  • Nah, I don't care.

  • lol i still have this game and my n64

i was ok at this game lol

  • I don't brag, I really don't, but I'm really good at this game. If I had a capture card (and a Mac for that matter...-_-') I would love to show you and everyone else how I do. I played Tetris Attack so jumping to this game was a snap. You tried though and it's cool. lol.

  • Haha. The repetitive music and dialogue is annoying. Didn't they making this for the Game Boy Color? Pokemon Puzzle Challenge or Pokemon Puzzle League, b/c I have this game, it was my first video game. My first GBC game also. Is this on Virtual Console for the Wii? =)

  • Hey! I remember this game! I used to play it all the time, but then I couldn't get past the last level. It was way too fast.

  • Maybe this is my natural... "slowness" kicking in here, or maybe I'm just missing it because I'm up at 5am commenting on this, but... I don't quite get it.

I mean, I see the point, to line up matching blocks, but I thought that you were supposed to lose when your side reaches the top? Yours did that and more a couple times and you were fine, so why did Gary lose when his hit the top?

  • Panel de Pon (AKA Pokémon Puzzle League and Tetris Attack) give you a bit of time to reduce your stack; you ony lose if you fail to reduce the size of your stack after some time.

  • You're better than me, I suck at this series but I still love the Panel de pon/Planet Puzzle League series. I'm better at Puyo Puyo and I still suck at that...

  • Omg is that sound of you button mashing ? Sounds pretty intense lol

  • All of the panel-switching noises are in-game sound effects. I record through a video capture device, so you hear no sounds from the outside.

  • lol i still have this game because of how crappy the sell price will be XD *plus my nintendo 64 and like 10 other nintendo games =P*

  • It doesn't help that the level is set on very hard.

  • This looks very similar Tetris if you ask me.

  • KEEP ON TRYING

  • The Sugimori imitators are gods.

  • The voice clips are pretty funny because they're so stupid. And Ash looks like he always has his mouth open in those still image shots. :P

But in gameplay terms, it's good.

  • o,O That reminds me of that one GBC game that was similar to this. I found it quite fun and it killed a lot of time for me :3

  • i have this

  • This is...fascinatingly high quality, considering it's just imitations (voices aside)

    The music is nice, too.

  • Yeah, I'm astonished they could make everything so authentic. I wonder if this is popular outside of North America, particularly in how the original Japanese crew of the TV show thinks of this.

  • they are probably still pissed off! haha! if pokemon USA did this, i wonder if you can consider this copyright infriction, or how ever you say it, if pokemon japan was not aware of this project for a game? im sure they were aware of it but you know you have to wonder and it makes you think what they could think about it, right?

  • It certainly wouldn't be a copyright infraction, as Nintendo is the owner of the rights to Pokémon, and Nintendo of America is still Nintendo. Most divisions outside of Japan simply don't want to make a Pokémon game. (In fact, have the Nintendo departments in Europe or Australia made ANY game at all?)

Nintendo of America makes a game of its own every now and then, and it's certainly allowed to use any Nintendo franchise, but it prefers to localize the Japanese games.

  • i see, well still im sure ken might have thought something of it! but he animation and stuff is pretty good! in fact i think that it might be better! lol

  • oh wow! i, kinda impressed! looks kinda fun! i just get annoyed but the constant " keep on trying!" and "way to go!" for every combo.... they could have done sound effects for that and for he really good combos they could have done the voices... i dont know thats just what i think about the game. other than that it looks fun!

  • Each character has one voice clip for a combo and one for deactivating a garbage block. The Pokémon has a voice clip when you have a chain and a second one if your chain is x4 or higher.

It happens more quickly in the stages after this, however, so you'd best be prepared.

  • The voice acting is all in the VC version right? I've been meaning to download it, but sometimes Nintendo stupidly changes the ROMs.

  • Yep, everything you see in this video is in the VC version.

Thanks for uploading this, Overhazard. Looking forward to seeing more.

  • Wonderful.

  • Heheh. Puzzle League Village.

  • Yeah, could you imagine sending a letter or package there?

  • this looks... interesting?

  • Oh man i got this the day it came out on the N64, And once the VC version was out i grabbed it. Great game

  • My first Puzzle League game...in fact, I think this was my first puzzle game period.

I could never beat the last boss...

  • Do you mean Mewtwo in the story mode?

  • Yeah. It didn't help that you had to beat Gary again if you lost.

  • I've gotten to Mewtwo once, then he beat me in about 20 seconds. I was ejected back to Gary, whom I continue to struggle against.

  • I love the fact that the game has nearly nothing to do with pokemon. -.-

  • Yeah, it's Panel de Pon with a skin themed on the Pokémon anime.

This isn't the first time Nintendo did this...It skinned Panel de Pon with a theme on Yoshi's Island with Tetris Attack.

  • Ah, this game. It's fun to play, but it's kind of hard to master IMO. I play Pokemon Puzzle Challenge, which is a 2nd gen and GBC version of this, and it's pretty fun.

  • oh my, I haven't played this game since ages!

  • Im sure your gonna master this soon. I hope your gonna make more. If your going to.

  • Ah well... you do stink. However more you play, better you get.

I do remember renting this for the N64, then buying it from the Virtual Console many years later. The Gamecube controller is weird for me... for some reason, but I'm rather good.

    A fun game.

  • Holy cow! The Queen fo Games has 1, 287 channel views thanks to your ad. And you didn't do that bad; I actually thought you were going to win the first time. You're certainly a lot better than me, anyways. If YuuGiJoou decides to upload his WFC Friend Matches on Dr. Mario, you'll see my failure.

  • Why, were the channel views much lower than before?

I see a lot of players somehow able to push the stack up as high as they can get without an automatic loss, then work their way down with insane chains. It's sometimes a bit disconcerting.

  • I'm not sure what our friend's channel views were at before, but I think it increased quite a bit.

Those players probably have had quite a bit of practice playing those games, but I still think it's wiser to keep the stack low. Better safe than sorry. Practice makes perfect for everyone, and you'll get there soon if you do. Do you plan to upload more of these, or was this just a little glimpse/shoutout?

  • This is the only one I plan to upload. It's just a bit of filler video for now.

  • I actually remember that there was a review of this game in denmark (where i live) many years ago. so i don't think it was North american exclusive.

  • That's not what Overhazard means. He means that the game was MADE entriely in the US.

  • Wow. This the 1st game where Ash is ACTUALLY in it.

  • Gary's laugh freaks me out ^^ And looks like you are actually good at this game. Don't lie next time.

  • If you've never played a Panel de Pon game before, it might look like I'm good.

But really, I'm near the bottom. Some of the people with skill can do crazy stuff.

  • No, you're not near the bottom. You have some pretty good speed with you fingers, I wish I could play Bejeweled as fast as that. And you're quick at seeing possible connections too.

  • There are a lot of patterns that it seems I missed when I was watching a playback of this. I'll bet a big thing holding me back is that I'm unabe to see the stack as a whole and can only concentrate on small parts of it.

  • pokemon puzzle? where can i get it?

  • Check the Virtual Console to see if it's there.

Of course, this seems to be a strictly American thing, unfortunately, so if you don't live in North America, you're out of luck.

  • aww...too bad. i dont live in North America.
