Hey there angelkid79! Thanks for stopping by. Hope you enjoyed the video. Loved your reflections on the music and the impact across generations. Great stuff. Happy New Year to you. Hope 2012 is a great year!
Remember this as a kid. I always had a place for the jazzy side of music. This reminds me so much of my parents when they were young and happy. This was thier beat and it stuck on me over the years. Now my son has taken a like to it in his teen years. Sometimes things pass down successfully through the generations.
@pinmode Hello. The version of FM is from a CD I purchased a number of years ago entitled "No Static at All", an instrumental tribute to Steely Dan. From Samson records. FM Features Jeff Lorber and Nick Kirgo. Glad you enjoyed the tunage...
@LaszloPanaflex: Thanks for responding but I'm pretty darn familiar with Steve Khan's work. For example, I know that it's him doing the totally "out there" lead guitar work at the end of Bill Joel's "Big Shot". I have no doubt that the jazzy and melodic lead guitar outro to Glamour Profession is, indeed, the "distinctive" work of Mr. Khan. I'm less certain about the passage I referred to in my initial comment. The sound of THAT guitar is very different from the one Khan used on Gaucho.
The little "guitar solo" which consists purely of some really smoothly fretted chord switches (between 3:33 & 3:37) may be the nicest recorded run of its kind I know of.
a cool jazzy song about a 70's drug dealer with some high profile clients. Cocaine was not on the radar too much yet at that time but was prevalent in the LA area. By the early mid eighties it was everywhere and easy to get.
Hello Kahne2. The Album is entitled No Static at All. An instrumental tribute to Steely dan. The FM song is done by Jeff Lorber and Nick Kirgo. Garden PArty Records. HAve a great day.

I love the instrumental "FM" rendition at the 09:30 time stamp; who did it and where can I get the whole thing?

I'm not sure but I think this song is about heroin or cocaine and all that goes with it whether your dealing or buying it.

@horsefeathers2008 go to their site. It's whatever you think it is about. That's what they tell you.

what is that smooth jazz piece at the end of the video?
kahne2 1 year ago
@kahne2 The theme from Last Tango In Paris. Who it is, I'm not sure, but on the original recording, it's Gato Barbieri.
