But if you watch the show in DVD you'll see that at some point somebody suggests Rape, to what Cobain answers: "I don't think MTV would let us play that". I don't know if you remember, but in the 1992 VMA, Cobain did want to play Rape Me, but MTV censored that and told him to chose between Teen Spirit and Lithium. But even with the prohibition from MTV, Cobain did play the riff from Rape me and them he started playing Lithium.
