  • I got one too a few years ago, I had to stop working for almost three months to get it closed correctly. I got a nurse that cleaned this almost everyday. That was really boring, because I got many difficulties to take a seat and I was adviced not to drive during this period.

My doctor said, that this problem often happens to people that drives a lot. In the past, it was known as the jeep's driver infection !

  • Heh, I watched this video before my surgery and I was terrified. Guess what...my hole is like 2 or 3 times bigger than the one in this video. It's like straight out from some horror movie. In my case I guess it's going to take up to a year for it to glue itself back together. So people...go to the hospital as fast as you can before it gets more complicated. I had mine for like 2 years before going.

  • did they not stitch it closed?

  • They put you to sleep for this surgery, right?!

  • had mine re-done a few days ago... first surgery didnt clean it all out and it kept going..really sucks but at least i can walk and sit for some time then it starts hurting a bit. its no big deal so dont delay the surgery cause it will only get worse

  • My Boyfriend just had this done today, wasn't suposse to be bad or anything but they had to take an even larger portion out, it was worse then they though... It scared me to death when he stood up to go home he started bleeding on the floor... The Dr. came in and found out he had a bleeder stiched it up and he is being held over night.... I miss my rock : (

  • @BadProductionsltd shiiiiiiiiittttt

  • 1 month post op!!!!!?!????

  • I had the cyst surgery, they didn't pack it or anything they just sewed it shut. It busted open about 2 weeks later during the night. Overall it took about 5 weeks to heal because after it popped the stitches my DR told me to just treat it as an open wound. This type of surgery isn't really that bad, it's just that the positioning of yourself while recovering is a pain. It's not easy to get comfortable the first few days. My scar isn't even noticeable though.

  • Im having this done in a couple of days. Its odd cuz im 30yrs old and never had an issue before till about a year ago. Im in the Army and just recently transfered to a very hot climate so thinking that might of had something to do with it idk. Either way this looks horribly painful. Ive got a few questions though. Im gonna be getting anesthesia via a shot into my spine and wondering if you did the same thing? Also i'll be using the VAC system and wondering if you had any knowledge on that.

  • @Rjax842 My understanding of the VAC is that it pulls the tissue to the surface, and therefore prevents a cavity from forming (this is what gavev me much trouble with the cyst).

  • I had a surgery on this exactly one month ago. this coming monday itll be 5 weeks. so yeah the recovery sucks, but im doing alot better. the changing never really hurts too bad...but feels RELE WEIRD (especially when the nurse squirts saline in there....gives me an idea of how deep it is since i would NEVER look at it haha. luckily my surgeon just looked at it today and said its healing faster than he thought, so thats a good thing! every few days i notice myself doing more so its def healing.

  • butt vagina!!!!

  • sorry to hear that. the daily trips back to the nurse for packing make it even worse. hope you doing ok

  • i am 12 and wat is this

  • im sorry but.... what is this

  • it is the most painful thing ever

  • it is caused by an ingrown hair (believed) in the top of the butt crack, it is very painful and requires daily wound packing, i had this and i hope it never comes back!

  • not is only is it cause by an ingrown hair but you can also get it from exercising, like rowing, or biking.

  • I've had a pilonidal cyst for about 10 years now and this is the operation they recommended for me. In all honesty I'm a little scared about it after watching your videos. Thank you for documenting this for people like myself.

  • ive had op four times and its come bak so this will be the 5th ive had enuf of this thing

  • You've had exactly this kind of operation?? This is excision. I've had 3 incisions, but that's not the same as excision.. After excision, you must depilate whole area around the ex-sinus..

I really think you had incisions..

  • Were you referring to parrro88's comment? Because my surgery was an excision.

  • I was referiing to parro's comment.. I know yours is excision and I really hope the parro is talking about incision 'cause I can't believe that excision can be done 4 times... too painful to me..

  • The next time you get this double up on your Vitamin C and watch your diet. Eat raw foods like veggies and fruit, drink tons of water, take all of your vitamins and it will heal alot faster.

  • The problem was that the wound healed too quickly. For the most part, I did very well with my diet. My problems with healing were from the late stages in which we needed to make sure that the wound healed properly. The only thing I'd like to add to your good suggestion is to consume plenty of protein. Protein is vital for wound healing. However, don't think a bucket of KFC will do the trick. Make sure to keep it healthy!

  • i have to get the same thing done.. is it really goin to take as long as yours did? it worries me because at the same time im dealing with a weight problem and i actually have the ambition to get rid of it so i wanna get into aroutine before i dont anymore...

im jst curious if what autopsyreport said is true and doing that diet will speed up the healing process.

  • There is certainly some truth behind what autopsyreport said. "Watch your diet" is a bit vague, but in general, don't eat fast food, eat a lot of fruit and vegetables, eat a lot of protein, take multivitamins, and consuming plenty of water should help speed the healing process. However, your wound should be healing from the inside out. If your edges close too quickly, you will have problems.

  • can you say where the wound was???

  • ochyda jak można dać coś takiego na Youtube

  • Can someone interpret this for me? I like to respond to all posts if I can. Thanks!

  • she said its disgusting and she was wondering how can someone put something like this on youtube ;p

  • Haha. Well, it's even more distusting in person, so hopefully she can consider herself lucky that she doesn't have one.

  • it may be disgusting....but would you like it if the doctors said that to you if you suffered from this condition? would you like people to just neglect you because it is unsightly?

    grow up.

  • theres something wrong with these surgeries this just cant be this bad...

  • It is that bad.

  • Agreed!

  • had my surgery april 7th doctor said about 4-6 weeks to heal

  • I'm sorry to sound like nearly so many other comments.. But where exactly was this wound?

  • I guess you would call it the butt/crack area for practicality.

  • Hey how long ago was your surgery? I just had mine on Jan. 5th. I'm using the wound vac because my wound was too deep for sutures. Anyone else using the wound vac? It's kinda annoying cuz you have to walk around with the machine, but at least I can take showers, drive and go to school...Anyone else's thoughts on the wound vac?

  • I had my first surgery in April of 2007. I probably could have used a Wound Vac at that time. When I was at the wound care center in December 2008 they were going to put me on the vac because my wound wouldn't heal properly. I ended up using a product called Promogran which helped my healing, so I didn't need the vac. For you, the vac sounds like a pretty smart move. Hopefully you'll heal a lot quicker. Best wishes.

  • Wound Vac sucked! get this I had my Surgery November of 07 and I had the vac in the summer of last year.. I still have a small area to heal :( a year and a half later!

  • Hmmm. How big is the area? Is it a hole? If so, does it possibly connect to the rest of the wound? That was my problem and it never really resolved until I had another surgery to remove the small hole. Best wishes.

  • @Mq404 im getting this surgery soon and they told me the VAC system helped speed up the healing. Take that it didnt with you though. Its been a year since your post has it healed by now?

  • @Rjax842 I've been healed up for some time now. I did not use the VAC, but at one point we were considering it. In hindsight, it probably would have been wise of us to use the VAC.

  • Going to the hospital tommorow to see the doctor. Hope i dont need an operation in scared as hell

  • wow!! i guess in australia we do it different!! same process with the dressing buh im gettin cut up again.. to remove the thing that caused it and gettin it sticthed.. ive never had to hav a massive wound open like that.. mine was very lil.. buh i do feell you guys's pain! its awful!

  • You aren't kidding! These things are horrible. Good luck with your surgery and healing!

  • How large does the cyst have to be in order to get such a huge chunk like that cut out? Any info will be appreciated, thanks!

  • Hmmm...I'm not really sure. I guess it just depends on how much tissue is involved. For me, I had a pit in the middle of my "crack" which tunneled farther up. With the last surgery, he removed the pit and all of the tunneling as well. I guess some surgeries don't have to involve so much tissue if there's not a lot going on underneath.

  • The common practice is to remove the surrounding tissue too, just to be on the safe side. My surgery was performed before lazers, so I'm left with a zipper running the entire length of my crack. My surgeon used sutures to hold the wound open. After the first week I stopped using occlusive dressings altogether, the wound dried and scabbed well allowing me to use only maxi-pads in my underwear to control any spots of blood or "ooze". It was traumatic, I'm glad I can talk about this with someone.

  • It really is a experience! The pain is unreal

  • The packing was the worst for me, 4 feet of it..ahh, i hope it never comes back.

  • Thanks! Um...if I had to give a rough estimate, I would say about 2-3 weeks. I still have the occasional dressing that has a lot of exudate on it, but not very often. Sorry to hear about your problem with the blood vessel. How is your dressings coming along?

  • hey

the doctor took off my dressing and told me to keep the wound open by putting a small bandage into it (if it closes too fast it would get infected) and i put another one over the wound.

Did your doctor tell you to keep the wound open for a few weeks ?

    thanks

  • I have always put something in the wound, which is what it sounds like your doctor wants you to do. The problem with it closing too quickly is that it may leave a pocket underneath if the sides close before the bottom fills in. By putting a dressing in the wound you keep the sides from closing too quickly. Good luck!

  • nice healing !

5 days post op one of my blood vessels broke and i almost blead to death while waiting at the er

how long did it take u before ur wound stopped producing a lot of ooze ?
