to be honest i cried ... a lot when the first time i saw this ...
and to be honest with you guys it really reflects to my life. i mean my father neglected me, rejected me, despised me used my love, killed my mother emotionally.
but still I Forgive him because he's my father. and i promise to myself that i would became a great father for my future family
you'll get there.. Just remember, forgiveness is FOR YOU not for your father. When we don't forgive (trust me I know), you give the person who caused you pain the power to hurt you all over again.. Be strong. All is well.

I had to take out the cancer of rage and anger and bitterness..it helped....it left a void that let me heal. Then I thought, forgiveness is an act of the will...but mercy is an act of the heart. With mercy comes compassion...and the only thing that overcomes hate is love. Want to beat hate, love instead. Not easy, but doable. Just look at Christ on the cross. It's up to you.

Oh man......the only time I ever truly cried was when I watched the passion of the christ. As soon as I saw the card "Father I forgive you" I cried so much. This video I watched for my confirmation class in church allowed me to realize I am loved and I can love others. If you can love, you can definitely forgive.

@UshoZeek i go to the same church as you i think...but yeah me and my friend stayed after for a while trying to keep the tears back. we didnt have the guts to go to the front but we both struggle with unforgiveness too. i dont think you should be mad no one came to talk to you though, they had the option to go to the front and said if u need to think and pray about things on your own u can stay in your seat so people probably thought you wanted to be there on your own. but im sorry about that!
My church showed this to us today, we had a different Pasture there.. nobody came over to me to help, the entire church ended up being empty, and if my old pasture was there (he's doing a mission) he would've came over and helped.. I hope.. my Dad did all of this stuff and I didn't know it hurt me until today.. I couldn't stop crying :x God spoke to me today..

that was truly touching. i was good friends with mary. we went to the same high school but really didnt get close til we got to college when we had a class together. after class everyday we would go back to her dorm and work on the quiz for that day. i remember seeing a journal or something on her desk but she didnt let me read it. i always wanted to know what she wrote in there. did you know her too?

Forgive and forget does not belong to each other, it's not possible to forgive and forget, though it's possible to forgive, learn and grow. Of course you could still be mad at someone and feel hurt, but forgiving someone is a step to ease that. I think the best thing to do after forgiving someone is to talk it out with them, that will help both sides to learn & grow. :D

@ShahoftheShahs it is the same situation. Anything from stealing a pencil to killing a loved one. Forgiveness brings freedom in life. I never said it was easy. But it is possible, otherwise Jesus never would have asked us to do it in the first place. Prayer does not make things easy, prayer makes things possible.

But if you want to speak about what Jesus said about forgiveness understand that what he said was not a request to forgive but something much stronger. It might help to be reminded of a couple of the most powerful times Jesus spoke about it. If you are intersted to truly know what he said read Matt 18:21-35, the story of the unmerciful servant. Pay partiular attention tot he last verse. and Matt 6:14-15

There is a state greater then forgiving, and that is true love, true loving. With true love, a person does not see her/him self as superior or inferior to others, and really loves others; if insulted in any way, s/he shows true love in one way or another, and does not attempt a retaliation; there is no ego to be found.
When a person says I forgive you, there is ego involved still; s/he is tacitly putting her/him self as superior. In any case, forgiving is a relative great action...

I searched for this video after I saw it tonight at church. It was shown to a lot of people. It was then and is now, powerful for me. Thank you for sharing this video. What is neat is that he actively wrote, at the moment, the I forgive you. We can store our hurts and they can define us, or we can forgive and our future will be larger. Mary Read didn't get the chance to live because of the shooting. Her words about forgiveness live on to encourage us to do this in our own lives.
I too related to this video. Life is far too short and precious to waste on trivial wrongs. We must forgive, if not for them, for ourselves, because we never know when we, too, will be gone. Mary herself went to class little knowing that her life would senselessly be snuffed out.

This is such a tear jerker, I started to shed tears after the second notecard. They say to forgive and forget. I say forgive. I dont think anyone will really forget. Forgiveness is so very powerful for you and to whomever you forgive. More of us need to learn and utilize the power of forgiveness.

@ShahoftheShahs it is the same situation. Anything from stealing a pencil to killing a loved one. Forgiveness brings freedom in life. I never said it was easy. But it is possible, otherwise Jesus never would have asked us to do it in the first place. Prayer does not make things easy, prayer makes things possible.

@hyperxero Isn't this a powerful video? I agree that forgiveness is a very powerful thing. But if you want to speak about what Jesus said about forgiveness understand that what he said was not a request to forgive but something much stronger. It might help to be reminded of a couple of the most powerful times Jesus spoke about it. If you are intersted to truly know what he said read Matt 18:21-35, the story of the unmerciful servant. Pay partiular attention tot he last verse. and Matt 6:14-15

There is a state greater then forgiving, and that is true love, true loving. With true love, a person does not see her/him self as superior or inferior to others, and really loves others; if insulted in any way, s/he shows true love in one way or another, and does not attempt a retaliation; there is no ego to be found.
When a person says I forgive you, there is ego involved still; s/he is tacitly putting her/him self as superior. In any case, forgiving is a relative great action...

Very powerful and well designed. But as a survivor myself. I believe the key to our forgiveness is in forgiving ourselves not abusers. Do you have any videos from the self forgiveness side? I don't think most non-abused people realize how easily the blame is internalized by the abused. Just a thought.
You have a wonderfully creative style, it touches. Keep making your points in video, it comes through.

a very valid point,consider our laws today our court systems they seem to be more concerned with the rights comforts of the accused than the victim no wonder our social fabrics breaking down no one seems to be happy just instant gratification than never seems to last, i think one has to find thy're own answer and thats a lot of soul searching i hope you fond or find peace renee.

I searched for this video after I saw it tonight at church. It was shown to a lot of people. It was then and is now, powerful for me. Thank you for sharing this video. What is neat is that he actively wrote, at the moment, the I forgive you. We can store our hurts and they can define us, or we can forgive and our future will be larger. Mary Read didn't get the chance to live because of the shooting. Her words about forgiveness live on to encourage us to do this in our own lives.

I too related to this video. Life is far too short and precious to waste on trivial wrongs. We must forgive, if not for them, for ourselves, because we never know when we, too, will be gone. Mary herself went to class little knowing that her life would senselessly be snuffed out.
