Very informative video. I'm looking to reviewing more of you videos for Coronado. You area true resource for all visitors to this area. I happily used your video on my website..
@HannahWil123 Sounds like you had a great time (except for the sunburn!) Thanks for commenting on the video. Do you have any fun tips you'd like to share about the resort?
i went there last summer it was awesome.we also stayed on the same floor that kate morgan did the lights went out and the phone rang but no one was there. . ask my friends mom.
Who cares if the hotel is haunted! It's a beautiful hotel. Isn't that enough to want to go? I've gone to Coronado so many times and I love it! You can visit the beach, go to all the great restraunts (Mc P's is my favorite), and just overall take a look. It's really a great vacation spot!
@woodgirl22 Yes this hotel is haunted, this hotel is haunted by a ghost of a woman named Kate Morgan that was waiting for her husband in this hotel. But 5 days later after Kate checked in to the hotel, she was found shot on the head on some stairs of the building. Others believe that she killed herself. Others believe that her husband sneaked into town and murdered Kate. I bet that answers your question.
I've been there. It's a very nice and elegant place to be. I've had 1 paranormal, I think, experience in the room I stayed in. I was watching tv and all of a sudden, it turned off without making any sound. I tried to turn on the tv, and it turned on. It was weird. But this place is a must see.
yeah i needed help with my bags and i tried to find someone to help.when i found someone, they walked away. When i follwowed, there was no one there 0_0.
It is a bit pricey, but they do offer specials from time to time. A nice compromise would be to have lunch there, then tour the grounds. Thanks for commenting!
your welcome - i went there when i was staying in san diego my dads a 64 year old navy captain and he almost got us run over by a f-18 hornet! ( fighter jet ) at north island naval air station just across the bay
yeah it is a very nice hotel - Ronald Reagan stayed there for a while holding a confrence - it is the largest wooden hotel in America ( possibly the world ) - i really enjoyed it!
My friend and i went in there when we were on a ghost tour and found room 3327. As soon as we turned the corner the temperature instantly dropped. And as we stood outside the door there was a tapping from the other side. it was incredible.
The del is beautiful, a real staple of the island (even though its technically a peninsula) I've never stayed there myself, but we have a timeshare in the coronado bay resort (hope I got the name right, been going there every summer for about half my life) and it is right across the street from the del. We often walked around and it was so beautiful, made me wish we had the kind of money to stay there. Also, I thought that the writer of the wizard of oz actually lived in a house, not in the del
Way OVERRATED, if you go their, they will give you a sh*tload of problems, Other people, including me, have had instances in which they reserve a certain place, like over the garden, and then they say you didn't, don't even apologize. The Beach Village was insanely expensive, and they hid in an additional "Service Charge" which is for the electricity, cable, water, and coffee. 20$ extra a day, 1000$ a night, i remember when the buffet for 5 people cost 100$!
When I was there last I walked down the hallway where Kate's room was. It felt really cold and I had to put on a sweater when I walked by her room. It was so weird and I fely like there was someone walking behind me but there was no one there I could see. Also the guy in the elevator is Andrew Waitmen, one of the elevator operators. He told me that when there is no one on the elevator the ghost comes out and they talk to each other! He's talked to her everyday for the past 50 years!
i would LOVE to visit there and stay the night. i looked it up and it is expensive. someday i will. i wanna explore and learn more about the ghosts there. im really into that sort of thing. hope your new year is going well. great video!
Hi there! Yes, it is expensive, but fun if even for one night. You do get a spooky feeling in some parts of the hotel. Check their Web site for specials throughout the year. I'm thinking now is probably a cheaper time to visit. Thanks again for commenting! Happy new year to you as well! Veronica
I stayed there for ten days and had various exsperiences with the ghost. One time I was alone with my brother in the room adn the door swung open. My mom told me when she was in the shower and no one else was in the room, she thought some one had walked into the room walked around a bit, then left slamming the door behind them and none of my family members went back to the room while she was alone. I also want to say that the man in the elevator was Andrew Waitmen. And elevatoe operator there.
thanks for the reply. ya people were iceskating..it was cool!although the ice looked like it was melting. the ice rink was just outside of the cafe...sort of like between the rocks and the hotel behind. All you have to do is go to my youtube page click my myspace link and then go on my top 8 entitled: Kpro stud. 08(under pics)of san diego...feel free to check it out..and a Happy 2009 to you. peace-Helen
yeahh its true they have an ice rink that starts in november or december i think and they keep it for a few months.. its not very good but its cool to say u went ice ckating on the beach
You forgot to mention that Richard Matheson, author of "I Am Legend", not only stayed at the Corondao, but he also had the hotel as the setting for his time travel/romance story, "Bid Time Return" (which served as the basis for the 1980 Christopher Reeve/Jane Seymour movie "Somewhere in Time", which was not filmed at the Coronado, but at the Grand Hotel).
You're welcome. I apologize if I came off at all rude. I'm a Richard Matheson fan, and am actually reading "Somewhere in Time" right now (and I also have the DVD in my collection). I just felt it was one of the small details to share about such a beautiful place as the Coronado. I haven't stayed there myself, but reading the book and looking at videos like this one makes me want to spend a week there. Keep up the excellent work. :D
You were not rude at all. I love learning new things about places I've been, and you're helping the viewers by giving them more information! Thanks again! Veronica
Thank you! I actually use a wireless Sennheiser microphone when filming each video intro. The mike was a bit "off" that day in Coronado, but we have it dialed in now! Thanks again!
Ooh, is that a type of microphone you put a fair distance away from you, but picks your voice up well? Or one with a small "phone" near your your mouth and hardly noticable on you? Thanks for the info!
I live in Coronado, and my friend's Mom works there. She was called to make a movie on the ghost, and they get to sleep in the room the night that she died for the movie. They invited me too, I think it was November 30th. I'm really excited!
I saw the ghost many times. She's really shy though and doesn't like to be seen but one time when I was getting on the elevator, her and Andrew were talking and she didn't want to leave. Once she saw me she dissapeared and I screamed! That's when Andrew told me about her. Whenever you're in the elevator, you can feel someone standing next to you, even when you're alone. I think that's why they have elevator operators. So you're not scared. Also to have that old hotel feeling too.
That's a cool picture of the elevator at 2:30. I ride that thing every time I visit the hotel. As far as I know, I think it is the oldest public elevator in use in the US today.
Yes, Marilyn Monroe spent about a week of filming "Some Like it Hot" at the Hotel Del during September of 1958. Her husband at the time, Arthur Miller, accompanied her during filming. During her stay, the hotel reports that Marilyn was a big fan of the cold soufflé vanilla pudding with egg-white decoration.
