Good day, Interesting stuff. Just wondering if you could point out in which verse of the NT it says women should be quiet when men are present. It goes against how Jesus treated Mary Magdalene. I could understand that Jesus just arrived up on the scene and the customs of that time were still going to be strong for at least awhile, before change could occur. It's just not something I could see Jesus being a part of.

  • There are many instances in the NT relating to Jesus that women were given different roles all of a sudden. One for instance is that when Jesus revealed himself for the first time after his ressurection, it was to two women. The two Mary's. Up until that time, no significant biblical 'seeing' of such a nature happened to women...or it just wasn't written about.

  • The scholars of the time (being the disciples) that followed Jesus' way, wrote about Mary being the first to witness Jesus. If they were of the nature to speak down to women and not treat them fairly...they would have taken the acclaimation away from the Marys and proclaimed they had seem Jesus first...etc. There are a few other instances of the old jewish customs turning in favour of women's rights.

  • The second question that comes to mind...is the absolute independence of Lilith. I can understand her not wanting to submit to Adam. (unfortunatly that word submit got tangled around so much over the years...it once meant to be more harmonious,,,,not just for the man but to both people in the relationship)

  • If her mainstay in the myth is to be a very powerful being who can have such freedom over anything. I can understand that too, A beacon to self rights, self respect, etc.

What I wonder about though is, if Lilith were to be so free from everything, wouldn't that mean she'd have to also have been free from being made by God in the first place. Would/does Lilith believe in God?

  • Let's also remember that no Pope one this earth is God...they still have human qualities. My hopes is to understand this from Lilith's perspective...not from what the Catholic Church does or does not say about her. Just something to refect on before looking into it.

    Peace

  • Well, Sex in Christianity is all Hush, Hush. Doesn't suprise me that they blame natural sexual functions that they didn't understand on Demons. Sad story.

  • lilith=badass!
