i was 9 years old and this is why i wanted to grow up to be a powerlifter because of guys like ed coan , and my local heros ernie martin , dexter choi and my older brother jim mersberg. i've finally started training the way i always wanted to, and hopefully i'll put up some REAL weight. nice vid
@tdheoembaesl that was 2 months ago, now i can dumbell curl 120 pounds for 5 reps, 90 pounds is really light now but i quit dumbell curling last week, now im doing pullups and they are really fun
@TheRationalTeller i dont dumbell curl anymore. i am 6ft3 180 pounds. i can benchpress 300 pounds only 2 times and i can deadlift 400 pounds 3 times and i dont curl
@terrapatraThat's good weight..I don't mean to sound over-critical..but videos like that are cool..I hope to post a video of a one arm chinup..was able to do 6 reps at 180ish lbs..I hope to get to one at 200 now.
Yeah he did, that deadlift is the craziest thing... He did it in nothing but a singlet, no suits that people use these days! Only 12 people in the history of the planet have offically deadlifted 900 pounds.. The next lighest person to do it weighed 50 pounds more than Coan!! No doubt the greatest powerlifter ever. He went to open powerlifting competitions and owned the heavyweights up to 160 pounds heavier than him!
Its definatley 855lb im looking at my ed coan book at this moment, he only made 1 successful deadlift at this meet and that was it, he squatted 920 and benched 555 for a world record total 2330lb and he weighed 213lbs.
thats more than 855, that mayb be 880- cuz (4) 100's w/ big clamps is 855, but there is a little something on the sides, if u look, i think it may be 875 or possibly 880
it was at the aloha 1986 world champianships the weight on the bar is 855lb 1st attempt he then missed 880 on his 2nd and passed on 3rd, he's in the 220ib class.
He weighed about 204, that day, I've been told!

Ed Coan had 95% of the strength of a 300lb lifter and he only weighed 220lbs. Amazing stuff.

I'd guess around mid to upper-700s. But that's just a wild guess.
