What a great singer from the beginning of R'n'R. Great country artist. Immortialized in a Chuck Berry song and toured the UK with the Beatles as her opening act.
this is class.great singer and interpretor.one of americas best. as they say in italy grande brenda.cant believe anyone could not like this fabulous singer.beautiful brenda lee. *****
I honestly liked Taylors version better. I really don't Brenda's voice. It's too deep for me and she sings off the music. It annoyed me her singing didn't go along with the music in the background. No I'm not joking and I'm sure Brenda is an amazing person, but I don't like her voice or the way she sings :|
@amberlovesemo1 Try to listen to how she sang these songs when she first came out with them years ago. I suspect that you might change your mind about not liking her voice. I agree she sang this song differently than she use to sing. All in all, she's a great singing voice in my opinion!
@PedoLouie If anyone sucks you do you are very rude probably collecting unemployment and sitting around lazy with nothing to do i wonder what your voice sounds like
@PeterRabbit59 Surely you must know that all singers voices change as they get older. I agree that it does not sound as nice as her younger voice did but she is still a good singer
Damn, I love her voice. Strong, deep beautiful. Brenda's I'm Sorry was the first 45 I ever bought. I played it until it was grey. SO glad to have seen her live, three times now!
fogg01 is actually "maga" - anyway if you lok at my comments for Connie Francis' song "Who's sorry Now?" - Ditto for Brenda Lee and Patsy Cline - especially in "Crazy" - another of my favorites. None of these women had particularly happy lives, but they don't sing about suicide, cutting, murder, etc.
Thank-you, would that happen to be Brenda Lee,s sister, Linda? By THE WAY Brenda Lee is two years older than I am, and Ihave always loved ,actually, three years in a row about four or five years ago, I use to phone on her birthday and sing ''Happy Birthday '' to her. By the way I live in Canada!!
I used to sing Brenda Lee songs over at a girlfriend's house in Junior High. She chose Streisand and I did the Brenda thing. (We're about he same age). Love her. And Connie Francis
i love this blusey rendition brenda lee has taken with absolutely what is her song only. she can put so much emotion in, that she tells a whole story and we all feel it right to our bones. now THAT is singing.
Brenda Lee> 1 of the Grand Ladies of Country, elegant, classy and a great voice, in my opinion 2nd only to Linda Ronstadt. Brenda Ty for all the years of great country music.
Yuk! That top voice in the background is SOOO flat I can hardly stand to listen to it. I"m amazed that a start of Brenda's magnitude couldn't rate a better back up. Amazing!
No offense but Brenda Lee had a much bigger voice when she was young. I have a feeling that it's because she's trying to sound country. Either that or she doesn't use her voice much anymore.
This song was a big hit in CHILE (1960). Youtube search DISCO 45 and VIVA EL ROCK AND ROLL (Manuel Vargas) and you will see an honoring to many songs of these years.
My late husband said Brenda Lee came to Juneau Alaska back in the '60's which was rare live entertainment in those days. Hundreds of people were there waiting in great anticipation to hear her sing. Sorry but your wrong. After performing for several decades (like me), you dont do such things to impair your skills. You dont drink or you make a fool of yourself onstage. Pros take pride in their onstage presentation and alchohol interferes with that. We drink water to keep our vocal chords moistened and to hydrate from the intense heat of the overhead lights which makes you sweat profusely. Stage fright? not. We cant even see you most of the time with he lights in our eyes.
Excuse me, but Barbra Streisand went into temporary retirement because of her stagefright, better known to some of US as anxiet and panic attacks. Charlie Rich had the same problem, so stop being a know-it-all with these other posters.
Ah well Ive been making my living singing and performing on keyboards all my life so I hardly think I need any advice from you about what it's like onstage? And I too have raised a son and put him through college and paid for a home performing as my sole occupation so yes I am a know it all thank you. What did you do?
I forgot to mention that I was referring to the posts about drinking and how some of the posters seem to think that drinking helps performing which it does not. As to stage fright I've never had it.But I think correcting some misconceptions about people in my industry is perfectly fine and that's what I did. If you ever tried to make it your occupation you might understand my point.Charlie Rich btw is fine I like him too, and I have sung many of his songs over the years.
So? Lots of entertainers do; stage fright isn't just for amateurs. We want these folks to entertain and amuse us; if they can do a good job drunk, that's OK. Brenda Lee drunk is better than a LOT of people (Can you say, "Courtney Love?") sober.
Amazing isn't it, how people seem to know all of this personal stuff about singers of the past? Like you, I don't care if they came on stage drunk or not, alot of them do. I'd probably need a couple of shots too if I were performing on stage. And the audience would probably need several shots to endure my singing! lololol!!!!
What a classy lady with a classy voice. THANKS FOR POSTING. Also, she sang "THATS ALL YOU GOTTA DO" on this Cinemax special. Clarance Clemons from Springsteen's band was on SAX. Another classic. Please put it on here!!!! GO BRENDA!!
