A really nice tribute to a very interesting man and actor. A great looking guy who had a strong persona and always the scene stealer. A very versatile and talented actor who was always convincing. I loved him- one of my favourite British actors. Thanks for putting this together
there was much more to Oliver Reed than just being a drunk. In fact he wasnt that at all.......................................an artist of the first rank and a man who revelled in excess as an expression of his joy in life.A great man.
A great actor, and a true professional, one of my heroes..... I would have loved to have met him, ........ if there is an after-life, he would be at the top of my list with Sid James... God bless you Olly....
This man was crazy, not to be messed with- and a real lad's lad! what i would have given to have had a pint with him, altho i fear he may have hit me upon first site! lol, what a legend, a light that went out just when his career should have skyrocketed! Go to it ollie x
Oliver was a man who had lived a life to its fullest - a bit too much from time to time. He was making a new rise with Gladiator, only to die before his prime.
one of the greatest 'presences' in screen history...and he went out the way he would have wanted to. in the place that he is gone, we shall have a drink together someday
i love you oliver reed and always will your wife if she had really loved you would have helped you to quit drinking i know your fans would have done what they could i really missed you oliver rest in peace xoxoxoxo
I once met Ollie when he was filming Michael Winner's (horrible man) The System down in Paignton, Devon where I lived at the time. He got me a small role as an extra in the piano-burning beach party scene filmed at Churston Cove. Loads of charisma and presence and quite charming. He is missed.
Oliver Reed was great at playing heavies, but he really got cheated out of better roles. He could've played Lenny McLean's character in Lock, Stock, and 2 Smoking Barrels.
could be worse..............he died beatin younger men then him at arm wrestlin after consuming and holding down more booze than they could........Holden died smashin his forehead of the side or a nitestand then sittin there bleedin to death either to drunk or to proud to call for help.......couldve been worse..he is lucky he made 61...amazin it was his heart, wish he didnt arm wrestle would have liked to have seen how long his liver would have lasted
Olly Bolly, you are to be congratulated on your tender and touching tribute to a fine man and wonderful human being, I applaud your disinterest in his drinking and carousing, there was so much more to the man as those that truly knew him would agree, God bless you both.
This is a true story (those who went there will know) many many years ago I decided to drive down to meet the man himself having been an intrigued fan since I was a child, his house was Broome Hall in Dorking, the drive twisted up to the house, and on the right through the trees could be seen the old swimming pool with cartoon characters sprayed on the side,(Moon the Loon,Ollie with a beer glass in his hand!)sadly he was away but I was shown around and made welcome, never went back, wish I had!
What a legend, on and off the screen. I keep saying it; if I ever had the chance to go for a drink with anyone I wanted; I'd pic Ollie every time. Genuinely good-hearted guy. Excellent choice of music - very appropriate.
Theres something about Oliver Reed that makes you want.....more.He was the greatest actor with the most mesmerizing eyes i ever saw.Thankyou for this video.....
The best Bill Sykes ever. And that scene in Women in Love where he wrestled with Alan Bates in the nude was brilliant, perhaps the most memorable and intense scene involving repressed homosexuality ever filmed.
There's one shot in Tommy, during the infamous 'Fiddle About' sequence, where Uncle Erne (Ollie's mate Keith Moon) molests Tommy (Roger Daltrey). Reed comes up the stairs with the upper part of his face hidden in shadow, it's quite chilling.
The Shuttered Room is a 1968 movie about southern rednecks who have this lust for a beautiful young woman travelling through. They try to rape her. She is also travelling with her husband. It's an excellent movie. It also stars Gig Young, Carol Lynely, and Flora Robson.
i hope someone feels as strongly about my memory when i die.
