What recording is this? I downloaded a version from iTunes that was marked as Ellen Greene but it doesn't sound anything like this at all. This one is a lot better.
rolling stone gave the cast album an A-, blaming ellen greene for her histrionics.
screw them. she was the reason we went to see that incredible production in 1976.
she was wonderful with raul julia. can't wait for the release of her new cd with recordings from the 70's when she was knocking new york out with her talent.
come back miss greene. broadway needs talent, not technicians or celebs. HURRY
Rolling Stone shook their heads at Ellen, yet she still got the Tony nomination and made the soundtrack totally kick ass. Hahahahaha!
I guess that they missed the fact that she was successfully playing a character significantly older than herself at the time and that to even get nominated for a Tony (especially that early in one's career) means that you're pretty damn good.
Never heard this recording before. She's fabulous.

As has been said by others, she is probably the only singer who can sing this song without making you think of Lenya.
Her Tango Ballad and Solomon Song are also amazing.

Hot damn! I never knew that Ellen could sing like this. She has a great range and very classy voice.
