  • Don was playing at the Spires in Cov last night with his group the Sorrows and still sounds great, saw him also at the Arches in Coventry last month.

  • Yes, I finally found the song I remembered from when I was a kid, I love this version so much better then the rest. I was not wrong, it's still as great as I remember. Is Don Fardon still recording, he has one of the sexiest voices I've ever heard

  • The bass in this song, no matter who does it is one of the coolest lines I have ever heard. :)

  • I remember when this hit here in the states. i always felt the Raiders version was too poppy. I was surprised when they covered it. BTW, when the record was released, there was a promo film ( what we would now call a video), with Faradon miming in full native dress, and as I recall, it was filmed outdoors. I think I saw it on Bandstand, but it may have been one of the other numerous music shows we had back then (Shindig, Hullabaloo, Where The Action Is, etc).

  • This song was written by John D. Loudermilk who also wrote "Tobacco Road". It was first recorded in 1959 by Marvin Rainwater and released as "The Pale Faced Indian". The first hit version was a 1968 cover by Don Fardon, a former member of The Sorrows, that reached #20 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart and #3 on the UK Singles Chart. Later it was recorded for a Mark Lindsey solo album but at the last minute was given to the Raiders to record. It became their all time biggest selling record.

  • great video .. he used to run the Alhambra pub in Cov & also the plough pub at Eathorpe... my claim to fame is riding aged 6 in his dune buggy

  • this was the way it was intended

  • I think the deeper voice and the greater, and better, use of drums make this a better version that Paul Revere simply because it evokes Native American's better

  • Ironically this version was first. Although most people think of the version by Paul Revere and the Raiders. I like this one best

  • BRILLIANT

  • I still have my 45 of "Indian Reservation" on Crescendo Records, produced by Miki Dalton in England for Deutsche Vogue.

  • My Dad used to work with Don Fardon way back when he was a car salesmen! XD

  • topp and nice slideshow

  • @eddie2elvis sukkelaar amerika zoals het nu is ! had nooit mogen bestaan !!!

  • uralt, aber immer noch verdammt gut

  • I'm after the b/w of this which was hudson bay. young blood lable.

  • gives me chills.

  • 100 stars

  • The last time I heard this version was 1967. To bad they don't play it on the oldie's stations.Better than Revere's.

  • They put up a courageous fight against European invaders - not one man can deny their great bravery.

  • @debiedog1 NO QUESTION! Just brought a knife to a gun fight!! AND DIDNT BACK DOWN!!!

  • The words should strike at the heart of every white man.

  • @debiedog1 Bullshit, only Americans, and maybe Spanisch, France and Britisch

  • interesting version...

I've only heard the version by Paul Revere and the Raiders up to now, and that version is a favorite of mine... I do like this one, tho...

a couple of minor corrections of your lyrics...

it's "Brick built houses by the score"...

    "won't need teepees anymore"...

and, "They'll never change our heart and soul" (no plurals)

    good stuff...

  • @bbflemm I enjoy your comment and many thanks for the tip, I corrected the lyrics. I'm always happy when they are being read. Have a nice weekend!

    Uschi

  • rentalife thats true, this is the best spirit.and the best deal 4 us and mother earth.

  • really good lyrics !! sad but true - maybe the most wisely nation was rotted out. They knew how to live in accordance with nature and showed respect to "mother earth".Our generation could learn a lot from their attitude.Especially nowadays when we're about to kill our planet and ourselves.May the Indian spirit live on and may we learn from it !!

  • So good with headphones!

  • This one will always be an A.M radio staple.Brings back memories.Love the horns

  • Thank you for the song and the really beautiful slides. I always loved this song.

It makes me very sad. Indians deserve better destiny. They ll return, oh they will- the future has a Cherokee soul.

  • I used to love this, never realised he was English.

  • I thought the version by Paul Revere and the Raders was great, but this is the BEST by far, wonderful. Thank you for this video and song.

  • guess the best version of indian reservation. and a great pictureline, thx for posting and 5*!

  • i mean the raiders..lol
