@Slikhedgehog I know that feel bro, I live in Aussieland too. Huntsmans are one thing but the legs on this looked like something out of a horror film.
Did you get a look at its face? The have amazingly huge eyes, they can see in night better then we can, which it pretty impressive since most breeds of spiders can't see very well.
@yayacomment I did, it certainly had some ripper eyes. Could see them reflecting in all the light. I've heard they have good eyesight much like jumping spiders.
Woah, pretty critter! Reminds me of a big male tegenaria parietina I found at home (FR) - 11 cm legspan. I admit yours is a tad bigger, but I'm a bit doubtful about the 17cm ; I'd say 12-14 or so, or is it the camera?
Also, did you purposefully set it against your pet huntsman spider? If so, I don't commend you - pet battles are wrong!
@Bjawu The "huntsman" was thankfully just a dead empty shell, I wanted to see how he'd react although I never intended to hurt it. I'd say you're right, he was quite large! I've never personally seen a netcaster as big as this one before. Although it may not look it, it was about 16cm back leg to front leg span when he stretched out. In general, when their legs are bent a little as they stand, a few cm's are lost, but I put a ruler up to it when he stood up (will film it next time).
So far as I know, most Net-casting spiders are generally of a pretty pathetic size, but this one just seemed to catch my eye. I always find that spiders are a lot bigger in real life than how they appear on camera.
I think we have! Nothing will stop Legspider. An epic battle between Clockspider and Legspider is likely to ensue someday... two unstoppable forces will meet each other and either destroy the universe or battle it out for an eternity.
Hehe yeah. It's a creepy thought about eating them during sleep, but if I swallow a venemous one, it explains the random roaring stomach aches I get from time to time.
@Slikhedgehog It was very similar to that of a wolf or water spider, well noticed.

grenade0wnyou 1 year ago
@grenade0wnyou It's an upside! Take it a step further; no bugs in your house, they've all fucked off to get away from the huntsmans.

@ayman2b In general yeah, netcasters are reasonably sized, but I wouldn't say this big. I could be wrong as I don't get many here.
Slikhedgehog 1 day ago
lol, its not big
ayman2b 2 years ago
@ayman2b Technically true. It's a small spider, with a narrow body, it just has a large legspan.

Yeah, being a net-thrower, I'd guess it's looking for smaller bugs.
