What is Aortic Stenosis?

I was one of the first to receive ballon valvulary through the neck area instead of the groin. At 2 they planned to do ATV but me and the other patient's surgery's went so well ATV didn't need to be performed.

I received surgery at a few months old. This was an experimental surgery that had only been performed on another patient once. They first part of the surgery was to open the valve the second part was called musical chairs and they switched valves and replaced the not working one. Luckily with the 60 doctors from around the nation and experts at Ohio state university medical the second stage didn't need to be performed. I feel proud knowing other kids will receive the same life saving surgery.

I have aoritc stenosis, but Im not sure how severe my symptoms are. Its hard to compare with others. I feel some heavy breathing just now writing this text. But I hva been tested thoroughlly, and Im just on the "above the surface", so to speak.

Anyone been through this who would explain how the symptoms manifest themselves? thx!

well my beeches im thirteen and im getting surgury in 2 months

He just described me. I'm 46. My Aortic Valve will be replaced in about 3 weeks.

@probob97 i was born with aortic stenosis at 36 i had a mechanical valve put in my aortic then 4 years later i got strep hooked on it..was life flighted to cleveland clinic,,i have a homograft valve in my aortic.......hopefully u wont have a mechanical valve put in.... i am 52 now......i am suprised i have made it this far

i was born with 2 aortic valves or flaps...And your sopposed to have 3. im 16

I know that the valve can be replaced with a biologic or a mecanic valve. Hope you consult a medic frequently so you wont have to have surgery. I wish you well.
