I played The Police on my drums everyday in my parents basement, and I LOVE this new interpretation! The sound is more mature, more tasteful. I guess I'm (or should I say we) are just getting older! lol
my greatest mistake in life was that i didnt knew the name of the band that played message in a bottle and every breath, its just a shame that when i knew the name they already passed trough my country and they became one of my favorite bands ever, fuck i lost the last tour, The Police Greatest band ever...
I love Stewart's reaction when he realized what Sting decided to play. That was the best. Love love love this version too. It's actually my favorite part of the concerts when they play it too. Thanks again guys for getting back together!!!
bleuroo, thank you for posting that comment. im 31 years old and thought your comment was great and well, really true. hope you don't mind me saying so.
One of the best things about growing old is the realization that you don't have to play things the same way you did before, because -- for starters -- you CAN'T play them the way you did before. So it forces you to open your mind and your creativity again, and at a time when so much else in your life has become routine. It's very liberating! If you don't understand now -- trust me -- in a few years it will sink in ...
doesnt matter how many times i watch this - it s just absoulte class - i really hope they do a new album and dont do the spice girls money grabbing thing.
it's plain silly to suggest they will play in this style when they go on tour. they have spent the last 4 months working out songs. take a look at the grammys for a proper live version of roxanne. this is a bit of fun for rehearsals, nothing more. and i wish people would stop going on about what they did 25 yrs ago, how sting's voice has changed blah, blah. be fucking grateful that one of the greatest bands ever to walk the face of the planet are going on tour.
voices doesnt have the same ring to it when he takes it down an octave, but i dont care! I am getting ready to scream like a sissy and dance like mad 17 july at the palace baby! WOO!
Not bad. I saw this band in 1983 for the Synchronicity tour, and they were immense. Sort of dreading this much publicised tour - and I'm their biggest fan - but this looks promising :-)
I know what you mean, but remember I saw them 25 years ago when they were younger and had far, far more energy. Their songs changed the world I lived in (for the better as far as I was concerned). I'm expecting them to be more polished and that isn't a good thing. This, for example, sounds like a "jazz lounge" version of the original ;-)
I'm not sure...I think I'll reserve judgement until I see them. For an old git like me who grew up with this music, it's a bit like seeing an old girlfriend after 25 years. Know what I mean? One good thing, though - it'll bring some fantastic songs to today's sedated youth ;-)
saw them 4 times in 2007

I like how Sting holds up the setlist after Stewart says they're not using setlists.
