The wavefront laser is an excimer laser and it rehshapes the cornea. The flap is made with a femtosecond laser. An irregular flap is rare with a laser and is more common with a mechanical microkeratome so you may have misunderstood what happened in your case
I was supposed to have lasik done last week but the doctor said that the fancy wavefront laser caused an "irregular flap" created on my eye. How does that happen? Does anyone know? I was so dissapointed!
i had this done yesterday. its safe and my vision is good... i have red eye still but it should vanish in a week or so. also my optition has said that with a little time my vision will actually improve. so right now i am 2020 but next time i go to check up i will be able to see even better.
the surgeon makes his money with his eyes so i dont think he will really want to risk the surgery for the what if chance. there is still risk: maybe 1 in 10,000
I had intralase at LasikPlus and not only were the treatments (making the flap and making the vision correction) done seconds apart from each other but he did not take nearly as long making the flap.
Sure looked like is was difficult to lift the flap after the Intralase -- like the Intralase does not really make a clean cut, but rather makes postage-stamp-like perforations. It is interesting that the surgeon wears glasses. If the procedure is so great and safe, why doesn't he have LASIK?
The answer I got to that question is that many went into eye care because they have irreversible eye problems. Plus, you have to wear glasses or contacts anyway even after some surgeries - monovision, for example.
He may have had lasik but his eyes could only be corrected so much at his age to where i am sure his vision improved but he could not get his to 20/20 or 20/15 like other patients.
@pjoiner0 I know your question is old but I'm getting Lasik in two days so I'm just watching these videos. But some people are not candidates for Lasik. It's possible that this surgeon is not a candidate for the procedure.
the cTEN laser is better with no touch tecnology
