When Jesus was born, the sheep were outside with the shepherds, instead of inside the barns and inns all the time, like in winter (some were inside though). So it was summer, northern hemisphere, mid-later spring, or Autumn. HE was born in the middle of the year. In fact, we must accept that the ceremonial observance of Christmas is righteous enough. They wanted to make a day to celebrate Jesus' birth and so they did. I'm not going to pretend they picked a random day, the 25th of December used to be a celebration day for pagans. I just want to point out that a huge reason that the whole "Santa Claus" story is taught to kids is to help teach them that it is okay to have faith and to believe in things beyond their sight. I'm pretty sure that in most cultures that derived some sort of "Santa" story, be it St. Nicholas or Chris Cringle or whatever, these cultures were of Christian descent and these stories were meant to teach faith. Just saying. The two weren't entirely separate. Well now they are, thanks to society.

I love this song so much :) And I really appreciate Adam Young throwing a lyric about the real meaning of Christmas in there, I think it shows his strength in his faith, and I find that even more beautiful than this song. Which is saying something. ♥
