I have a few sugesstions to playing this well, one keep on tempo. You start out slow and then really pick it up at the end. In the Middle, also try to use the soft pedal when you play the section based on Wagners Tristan und Isold. It will do wonders. Also try to bring out the right hand, make it sing, if you know what i mean.

It just goes to show what different tastes people have, I have heard many interpretations, variations and arrangements on this piece for folk guitar, classical guitar, violin and piano and piano, this is the best I have heard so far. This I feel is a tongue-in-cheek piece, so any variance in tempo is acceptable and is pulled off superbly by Wuther. I like your separation of the melody from the accompaniment in your post, but I'm afraid, this performance wins it for me.

After my opinion you have the best definition of the piece=D I would say this one was the best version of the piece. One wrong note here and there, but whole piece itself was fantastic!

But remember, I'm not Mozart either, so my opinions aren't so much worth.
