Well I love Circuit City. I have the charge card from them since 1999. They are good. I bought great stuff there. Even they offer me this thing for 9 bucks more. that if the item breaks i can call them and they will send me new one for free to replace the broken one. Sad to see it close. and I still have the charge card to clean up. Chase wont upgrade me to a visa unless I apply for another.

i hate that the employees are losing their jobs, but you have to remember they fired a bunch of experienced people back in 2007 and hired a bunch of new people at lower wages who knew nothing about the products or customer service.
Yeah...I know, I was one of those employees let go in March of 2007....and I was let go because I never moved in the system into the right department so I under the wrong pay cap.

Yeah....and you have to be careful and aware of their return policy and their open box items...but they have a very good DVD section with obscure titles for the same low price as Best Buy, and if you wanted to build a computer, you can find parts at Fry's that a Best Buy wouldn't have.

Actually, Circuit City no longer has anything to do with the sales going down except ringing up the sales. A third party liquidation team comes in and they run the liquidation sales. You will find that any store going out of business, whether it's EXPO, CCITY, KB Toys, etc, all have the same Liquidation policy.
This is more of a buyer beware situation when stores are going out of business. That is the risk you take when going out looking for a discount.
Furthermore, you don't know the whole story. Did this customer refuse delivery and expect to deliver themselves. Maybe they dropped the TV because they chose to deliver themselves. Who know? I wouldn't put it past some people to break their merchandise and try to return it right away.
P.S don't come to Circuit City because you want good prices come there because you love us and what we do there are some that do!!! Circuit City Rocks and will always be better then any other store out there.
Im really going to miss working there I've been there for 4 years and love the people there its like a home away from home and i'm sad that its closing for good feels like people just don't care about any thing but the prices and its not like there saving much any way the prices all went up before they came down. some came into my store today and I priced a printer that was like 74 dollars and it was still cheaper else where that was sad.

2. Mind you, this is two days before Christmas! So, the flips and tells us to "not move" and that he would be calling the police. So, like good and innocent people we stayed to sort it out. The police come and I tell my Mrs. to let me do the talking. The cops seemed nice enough so she showed them what she had done. Technically, it is a battery since it was an "unlawful contact with the person of another". Since she didn't listen to her husband and demo'd, the cops had probable cause.....(Cont.)
I'm glad they're going out of business. My Mrs. and I went there to get an iPod for our son. I had a gift card and was supposed to get an extra 10%. The store manager couldn't figure out his own offer and how to process it. Finally, he stormed off after we insisted on honoring their offer. My wife followed him and tapped him on the shoulder to show him what the gift card read. HE CALLED THE POLICE AND HAD HER ARRESTED. For a tap on the shoulder to get his attention. Good riddance bastards.

1. We had driven over 8 hours to get home from vacation. It was late and these guys were just giving us the run-around. I insisted on getting the offer they advertized but because I had a gift card their system wouldn't process it. When I refused to just go away, leading to the manager's saying "I'm done with you" and turning his back on us, my wife simply walked caught up to him and tapped him on the shoulder to show him that the gift card stated it could be used "in the store".
Circuit City is now among the long list of famous / infamous list of defunct electronics retailers that we keep track of. They now join the ranks of Crazy Eddie, The Wiz, CompUSA, and many others.
It is sad day for employees, and managers, of all of these stores. In an already overstressed job market, I really feel deep for these people. You video does a great job at showing that. I love the selection of Johnny Cash for the music. His title "Working Class Hero," would be an even better fit.

In such a bad economy, and bad exception handling, and embarassment in front of parents, and radio putting me down, I have really hit rock bottom. And with circuit city marking down high-end MP3 players such as the iPod Touch, you might as well but it cheap, and say "I am never listening to radio again" since you can hear new songs by keywording their genres on YouTube.

different regions have different types of people. I work at a CC in vermont and we offer outstanding customer service, and yes even compared to bestbuy, which is across the street. We have people who come in everyday thankful that we are there for them because bestbuy was not helpful.

No...This was when my old store closed and relocated. It is kind of symbolic of what the company is going through right now, but they are still in business.
I like the new styling of CC...we had one in 2003-2004 that moved to one of the new locations, which not only had easier access, but frankly the old store was getting pretty run down.
That being said, I think BB beats CC by a little bit.
I do miss Campo Electronics, however - that chain was mostly in the South, and at the time (we had no local BB then) it was good to have an alternative to CC.

This looks almost identical to the Circuit City I worked at for about 6 years, the upstairs held our break room, big warehouse, and the outside, the one I worked at still open.
askapalaphagy - The sign that says "Beat The Customer" is displayed in the warehouse. In the older style "Hub" stores, when you bought a large item like a TV or a high-dollar item like a computer, the warehouse guy would go and get it for you and bring it to the warehouse's window thing for you to pick up. "Beat The Customer" just means the product should be there before they are, hence beating them to the window. They have a similar policy now with the 24 min/$24 gift card thing for online.

Actually, Circuit City no longer has anything to do with the sales going down except ringing up the sales. A third party liquidation team comes in and they run the liquidation sales. You will find that any store going out of business, whether it's EXPO, CCITY, KB Toys, etc, all have the same Liquidation policy.
This is more of a buyer beware situation when stores are going out of business. That is the risk you take when going out looking for a discount.

Furthermore, you don't know the whole story. Did this customer refuse delivery and expect to deliver themselves. Maybe they dropped the TV because they chose to deliver themselves. Who know? I wouldn't put it past some people to break their merchandise and try to return it right away.

They all get liquidated and sold. The company will try to sell everything, including fixtures, signage, computers, even the fork-lift.
Eventually, items in the store will be sold for a heavy discounted price.

Im really going to miss working there I've been there for 4 years and love the people there its like a home away from home and i'm sad that its closing for good feels like people just don't care about any thing but the prices and its not like there saving much any way the prices all went up before they came down. some came into my store today and I priced a printer that was like 74 dollars and it was still cheaper else where that was sad.

Some people are happy to see us go, they dont seem to realize how bad it will be after Wally World crushes Best Buy, at least with CC and BB you could actually ask questions try doing that at Wally World.
Craziest thing is all the people who flooded the stores thinking they were saving money, instead they only saved 10 percent off MSRP fuckin loser douche bags. Sorry im not sad to see the company go but there are a lot of great people who i was fortunate enough to work with and now its over :(

This store actually survived, sort of. We moved locations from this old dreary store to a new one a few miles away in Las Vegas. Unfortunately, that store is now closing too.

Others online have shared misery of CC too. It's nice to know that everyone can still go to a local Best Buy or a PC Richards. From what I hear, Circuit City used to be excellent around the 80s and early 90s and then lost its edge after Best Buy became more competetive. I'm sure that manager is wondering what went wrong right now...

3. So, they lead her outside and cuff her. She's crying her eyes out and the cops are pleading with the dude to give her a break. Unrelenting, the manager just enjoyed the whole thing. She almost spent Christmas behind bars because of that asshole. 2. Mind you, this is two days before Christmas! So, the flips and tells us to "not move" and that he would be calling the police. So, like good and innocent people we stayed to sort it out. The police come and I tell my Mrs. to let me do the talking. The cops seemed nice enough so she showed them what she had done. Technically, it is a battery since it was an "unlawful contact with the person of another". Since she didn't listen to her husband and demo'd, the cops had probable cause.....(Cont.)

I'm glad they're going out of business. My Mrs. and I went there to get an iPod for our son. I had a gift card and was supposed to get an extra 10%. The store manager couldn't figure out his own offer and how to process it. Finally, he stormed off after we insisted on honoring their offer. My wife followed him and tapped him on the shoulder to show him what the gift card read. HE CALLED THE POLICE AND HAD HER ARRESTED. For a tap on the shoulder to get his attention. Good riddance bastards.

1. We had driven over 8 hours to get home from vacation. It was late and these guys were just giving us the run-around. I insisted on getting the offer they advertized but because I had a gift card their system wouldn't process it. When I refused to just go away, leading to the manager's saying "I'm done with you" and turning his back on us, my wife simply walked caught up to him and tapped him on the shoulder to show him that the gift card stated it could be used "in the store".

Circuit City is now among the long list of famous / infamous list of defunct electronics retailers that we keep track of. They now join the ranks of Crazy Eddie, The Wiz, CompUSA, and many others.
It is sad day for employees, and managers, of all of these stores. In an already overstressed job market, I really feel deep for these people. You video does a great job at showing that. I love the selection of Johnny Cash for the music. His title "Working Class Hero," would be an even better fit.

In such a bad economy, and bad exception handling, and embarassment in front of parents, and radio putting me down, I have really hit rock bottom. And with circuit city marking down high-end MP3 players such as the iPod Touch, you might as well but it cheap, and say "I am never listening to radio again" since you can hear new songs by keywording their genres on YouTube.

different regions have different types of people. I work at a CC in vermont and we offer outstanding customer service, and yes even compared to bestbuy, which is across the street. We have people who come in everyday thankful that we are there for them because bestbuy was not helpful.

I can't say that I didn't see this coming because every time I shopped in a Circuit City I was NEVER offered any help and when I finally did receive any help I was treated poorly. I am glad Best Buy is still #1 in retail it goes to show that Best Buy goes out of their way to help customers.

Circuit Sh*tty screwed me over when I bought a defective cell phone there PLUS a worthless warranty.
The salesman lied and said I would be covered with the warranty, then when the POS phone broke the warranty was worthless.
Since then I have driven 5 miles out of my way to Best Buy and never looked back.

I like the new styling of CC...we had one in 2003-2004 that moved to one of the new locations, which not only had easier access, but frankly the old store was getting pretty run down.
That being said, I think BB beats CC by a little bit.
I do miss Campo Electronics, however - that chain was mostly in the South, and at the time (we had no local BB then) it was good to have an alternative to CC.

askapalaphagy - The sign that says "Beat The Customer" is displayed in the warehouse. In the older style "Hub" stores, when you bought a large item like a TV or a high-dollar item like a computer, the warehouse guy would go and get it for you and bring it to the warehouse's window thing for you to pick up. "Beat The Customer" just means the product should be there before they are, hence beating them to the window. They have a similar policy now with the 24 min/$24 gift card thing for online.
