  • He don't know shit from shit. Racist piece of shit! McNabb got credit that he didn't deserve. Before McNabb, the Eagles were terrible between the time Buddy Ryan left and McNabb's 2nd season.

  • RUSH LIMBAUGH DON'T KNOW FOOTBALL!!!

  • the words "rush" and "is right" dont go together

  • rushlimbaughsaukmiedikt

    heracistmuthafukka

  • Media don't want to admit that Donovan McNabb is one of the few Real QBs left in game. Brady,Manning,Brees are all way over protected by refs.If defensive player hits Brady its a flag and fine. But McNabb always gets hit late and no flag and no fine.McNabb is tough.Like Eagles Coach Andy Reid said some QBs are favored over other QBs in NFL and by Refs.Conspiracy in NFL!!!

  • Rush Limbaugh is a racist and you all know. He himself is a product of poor white trash. He also is a pill popper. If I was klansman or a skinhead I would despise him.

  • Rush is right. He wasn't saying that McNabb is a bad quartback because he's black or that black quarterbacks are bad, but that we have invested a lot of emotion in seeing a black quarterback do well even if he isn't so good. There's no secret that in a league most of whose players are black, the absence of black quarterbacks is startlng. Yes we want McNabb to do well in the same way we wanted Jackie Robinson to do well and may have overstated his abilities. Rush was stating a social fact.

  • @MasterWooten I'm white and I think this was racist. There was no reason to say it. A at this time in his career McNabb was a Great QB. he just had ab ad start to a season. Look at his numbers from the 3 season b4 these comments. Rush is a racist. Plain and simple. people hyped him up not because he's black, bkoz he is a good person. And he made great plays. Being black is not why he got a push. Infact I notice black QB's coming out of college tend to get labled as just being "athletic"

  • @GTAMoviesAndFlix Its not racist when Rush is simply stating that the sentiment "everybody wants a black quarterack to do well" is held by all including the media. Hell you want black quarterbacks to do well yourself. Hence there is a tendency a foot to overrate their capabilities.

  • @qlaw04 But it wasn't true. McNabb deserved as much credit as anyone for his teams success. It's just him sneaking in an underhanded comment about blacks. Typical Limbaugh.

  • @MasterWooten

I'm not white but I don't think it really was intended to be racist but he should have never discussed it on telivision. People are too sensitive now days and take everything way to serious. Of course we want a black qb who puts up numbers like Peyton Manning and I think rush is right about Donovan.

  • @dbcrdnfanatic Its true. The rules of Political correctness are driving the debate more than ideas in ou society and this is truly sad. This fact should also be lamented by those who call for an honest debate on the issue of race. There's NO WAY that'll happen if certain subkects are off limits, and certain folks can't say certain things for fear of being called a racist. Kinda like playing a game of cards where some cards are NEVER revealed.

  • @dbcrdnfanatic ...Rush was promoting a tried and true conservative canard that Blacks dont get anywhere through merit or skill, so any accomplishment in circles were they were previously discriminated in, is owed to some sort of "social agenda" that is at the expense of white men in particular. What makes this so insidious is that people like Rush have built an institutional bias in football that blacks are not smart enough to either coach or play football. Mcnabb had to overcome this racism...

  • Yeah, Rush tells the truth about a black man and is considered racist. But the black man can play the race card any time he chooses and then he is considered the priviledged victim. Welcome to 2011.

  • just drop dead already, Rush. its time.

  • So let me get this straight. Rush is a racist because he mentioned McNabb is getting a push due to being black? Is it not also racist, then, to say that all criticism that is being directed towards Obama is due to him being black?

  • if you dont think this guy is racist well then im sorry but then ur just racist yourself..

  • remember, Rush only said that the MEDIA is hyping McNabb because he is black . . . . NOT that McNabb is bad because he's black. It was an attack on the Media, NOT against McNabb.

also . . all of the hyped white QBs that others list below are in the playoffs and living up to their hype somewhat . . . except Romo.

So, I think Romo is just an average QB . . McNabb is better than Romo.

Color of skin has nothing 2do with how good they are ...

but does have 2do with being hyped by a liberal media.

  • Anytime a black person gets something conservatives always attack them. What about Steve Nash winning MVP when other people had better stats and Steve Nash has poor defensive skills. Or what about Dirk stumbling over his own legs and has no speed. They gave them awards because of what they did for the team. MVP doesnt mean your best in league.

  • Rush might have been right, if he hadnt have said that about every single black person in a higher status situation.

  • Rush was RIGHT! As usual the liberal intelligentsia is projecting their own hidden racism onto those who are being honest and stating the obvious. Donovan is an average NFL quarteback with occasional moments of brilliance. Hardly the francise player one wishes and pins their hopes on to take them and win the big game

  • Rush looks amazing here. God Bless pharmaceutical drugs.

  • Donovan McNabb has the third best touchdown to interception ratio in the history of the NFL...

    Talk about underappreciation..

  • all the white qb's that have been overhyped? let me see... hasselbeck, romo, kolb, flacco, matt moore, TIM TEBOW the list goes on and on and on and on. imo people hyped vick and to an extent mcnabb bc they were AWESOME college players at virginia tech/syracuse and they had success early in the NFL. Its exactly how guys like leinhart, brady quinn and ryan leaf were hyped. obscene comments by rush bc everyone knows he wouldn't criticise a hasselbeck who has the worst passer rating in nfl history.

  • I think it was true at the the time. If anyone other than Rush made this comment the backlash wouldn't have been nearly as severe.

  • @jglivingstone11 He had two good season and reached a rough patch in his career. He never had the great talent around him. While maybe he was a little over-hype, I don't think race has anything to do with it.

  • because everyone wanted to give steve mcnair all the credit he ever deserved. because daunte culpepper wasnt out of the league 2 years after an mvp caliber season. because vick and young werent/arent painted as "atheletes who arent real qb's" at every turn.

doug williams aside for being first black qb in the superbowl, there are ZERO other examples of this in the nfl. evidence suggests the racial pre-occupation lies with Rush and those who agree with him alone.

  • I actually disagree with Rush here, but I do think that Michael Vick is overrated by the media for that same reason.

  • I don't like Rush, but I agree here.

  • The only thing that confuses me about Rush's comments, it's not about whether McNabb is overrated or not (that's completly subjective, and depends on how much you listen to sportswriters or ESPN), but that he implies a black qb hasn't been succesful in the NFL. What about Warren Moon? He retired 2 years earlier and was a Hall of Fame quarterback. Not to mention guys like Randall Cunningham and Steve McNair (and to a lesser extent Doug Williams). They were all succesful quarterbacks.

  • Iggles won because they had a great defense. Mcnabb has had one of those good but not great NFL careers. He's kind of like the RB equivalent of Fed Taylor.

  • what the hell does being black have anything to do with it? >_> i dont care if hes mexican, if he cant throw, fk that dude and turn him into a benchwarmer

  • man when mcnabb gets inducted into the hall of fame some people are gonna really look stupid

  • rush is evil

  • Good point. Shame he became a drug addicted loony soon after this.

  • racist

  • Mc Nabb I do not like, I saw the play-off game at Cowboys Stadium and just watchd him on a few pass plays. Instead of looking for open recievers he was watching the Cowboy rush. Ware Spencer and co. He looked SCARED! As for Rush, why cant I find any news reports explaining on how he perchased ALL thoes Oxys. "t. SOMEone POST Some vid's.. Why did he get any leagle ramifications. You and I would have went to prison and suffered horrible withdrawals. MAN IS EVIL RACIST!

  • @urajokeMC umm thats what your suppose to do to avoid sacks... you get out of harms way then look down field

  • Lol rush must not be as great of a football fan as pol say he is... Donovan mcnabb not that good from the get go? LOL that's just stupid... Mcnabb is a future 1st ballot hof player so rush u can shove it. I never hear this fool criticise hasselbeck or cutler yet he rags on HOF guys... I wonder why...

  • @MrJeckel you have to remember this is from 2003 before mcnabb had his best years

  • Rush Limbaugh is a racist. Plain and simple.

  • @ndc18 @ndc18 I think it would be more correct to say he made a prejudiced comment based on race, no different than what Isaiah Thomas made about Larry Bird.

We are all racists, but either in denial or we kid ourselves. To prejudge someone and not give them a chance is what individuals have to be careful of. To believe or really acknowledge that all races of animals are different and superior in some aspect has nothing to do with prejudice or hate.

  • Rush is right. Again he is discussing the media's coverage of Mcnabb. He is overrated.

  • @AUgrad00 how is he overated? do you even know his stats the only qb to throw for under 100 int's and over 200 td's

  • Rush Limbaugh is a knee-jerk, goose-stepping, ultra-conservative, right wing neo-nazi. So why should anyone listen to or care about what he says or thinks? Sadly, there so many more idiots just like this asshole in the United States that the world just shakes their collective head in wonder.

Donovan McNabb is a very good quarterback and the player mainly responsible for the success that the Eagles have had since 2000.

  • so mcnabb doesnt deserve credit 5 nfc championships isnt enough nd 1 superbowl appearence lets see that fuckin reporter become qb he wouldnt win a game

  • RUSH IS FULL OF SHIT.

  • I think he has a point. Look at the late 90s when Kordell Stewart was QB for the Steelers. So much hope and hype was heaped upon him, endorsement deals,etc.. Where is he now?

Same with Daunte Culpepper. Lot of hype with him when he was drafted by the Vikings. In all fairness, he was a decent QB but not great. Now he's second string with the Lions!

  • Can't it just be that they were both hyped because they were expected to be good QB's? Same with how white QB's are hyped and turn out to be busts in the end. The difference is the McNabb is a solid QB. At his peak HE was easily a top 3 QB in the league. And while he hasn't been able to win a Super Bowl, neither did Dan Marino, and no one is going to be taken seriously if they try to imply that he wasn't a good QB.

  • @alwrig you can argue the same with white qbs. Mcnabb is good qb. Rush was wrong. This is what happen when you bring in someone to talk about sports, but lack knowledge.

  • @alwrig

    Culpepper was a god damn BEAST, his best season- 69% completion %, 4700 yards, 39 TD's 11 INT's, 111 passer rating.

Donovan was a god damn beast as well and still is. In his prime he had absolutely no running game, a crappy offensive line, No WR's, a defense that played horrible in big games, yet still managed to take his team to 5 championship games! Not even Peyton Manning or even Joe Montana could've taken the Eagles as far as McNabb did with the team he was surrounded with!

  • @alwrig

Oh and Culpepper declined only because of his injury in which he suffered torn ligaments in his knee and hasn't been the same since.

  • @alwrig As a long time Steeler fan, to be fair to Kordell, the Rooneys allowed Tom Donohue (GM) to trade away and not resign talents like, Andre Hastings, Ernie Mills and Yancey Thigpen. Not to mention, Kordell was the only good receiver left on the roster he inherited. Take away all of that talent and then tell Stewart to go win like Neil O'donnell, was just wrong!

No mention of avg. QB's like Tim Hasselbeck and the rest of the clowns that bounce from team to team.

  • @alwrig Funny it takes the BEST BLACK QB's and HEAD COACHES to become winners. Doug Williams, Warren Moon and Randall Cunningham were the highlights of the 80's. It was Doug Williams who took the Redskins to a SB win over John Elway. Tony Dungy and Lovie Smith? Mike Tomlin, the youngest coach ever to win a SB, is doing an outstanding job. Then you have recycled coaches like Chan Gailey who will obtain HC jobs from Dallas, Ga. Tech and the Bills?

  • @alwrig Culpepper didn't get any hype when he was drafted. He didn't even play as a rookie. He didn't get any hype until he threw for almost 4,000 yards and 33 TD's and ran for 7 more TD's his first year starting. The guy tore 3 ligaments in his knee against Carolina and has been the same since.

  • @alwrig What about all the white quarterbacks who get hyped up and fail in the NFL?

  • @alwrig - plenty of white quarterbacks have been overhyped too - Eli Manning, Jay Cutler, Tony Romo. Even add Jim McMahon if you want to go back a little. And if you're talking about draft hype, just look at Tim Couch, David Carr, and Ryan Leaf!

  • you are the dumbass veyny or whoever you are asshole

  • why is rush limbaugh even talking about football....it has nothing to do with gov't scams or politics...stick to whatyoure good at weirdo

  • he was brought onto the show to offer his football opinion you fucking dumbass.

  • Do people in society have an interest in minorities doing well at jobs that historically they haven't held for the most part? Of course they do. What do you think affirmative action is? I'm not saying that this IS the case for sports writers and McNabb, but you cannot say that it is not the case either. It's a possibility and it is Rush's opinion that this was the case, but to label this as racism just shows that accusations of racism are purposely, unfairly used as a purely political weapon.

  • @MrFreeLibertarian

he tried to make an example out of mcnabb for no reason. He didn't deserve that shit hes always getting shit from people.

  • Rush may or may not be racist, however his comment are so race obssesed it's disturbing. There wasn't any "need," to bring that up in the first place.

  • @amdturion123

I do agree - if Rush had brought up some stats on McNabb and tossed in some info regarding their defense and had left the question of why the media so loves this guy to the viewers, it may have turned out different.

Then again, if any white person criticizes a black ball player at all, they are automatically considered racist. That notwithstanding, Rush needed to parse his words better.

But for me being a l

  • McNabb is a good QB not Great, Now this whole talk anout him better than Payton Get real thats a bunch of Bull Manning is Much Much better but this is old news so yeahh

  • Okay I herd Rush say that the NFL is really pulling for a black QB to suceed in the NFL. In my honest opinion I didnt take that as Racist, It seems everytime we say Black or White or etc we all tense up and take many things outta contects. Like him or hate him, I believe Rush didint mean anything racist about what he said. Now im a long time Eagles fan and of course I want him to do well and bring us the title. but I just don't think he can do it...At least not with Philly.

  • Lol rush you're a retard, hes an amazing QB when he isnt under pressure. He plays like a fucking god when his team is winning. But when his team is losing by even 1 touchdown, thats when he starts to get impatient and starts chucking the football 200mph.

  • 'amazing when not under pressure and a fucking god when his team is winning'-you just defined what Tom Paine would call the 'summer soldier'. Who needs players and people like that, they are pretty much worthless.

  • @chelseagurl97 MCNABB, IS GREAT, RUSH LIMBAUGH IS A BIGOT ANYWAY, HE DOES NOT NO SHIT ABOUT FOOTBALL, AS OF RIGHT NOW, BESIDES MANNING AND BREES, I WOULD TAKE MCNABB.

  • Rush was wrong, but not racist

  • McNabb is better than Manning, Brady and Brees combined. The only reason he ever loses is because he feels sorry for the inferior opponents.

  • rush is right. The media will never say that a negro quaterback is bad, if they did, they would be racist. We all know that negro's suck at QB, they are not smart enough and thats the truth. Name me one black QB in the NFL that is decent? There are some white QB's that shouldn't be in the NFLand I admit that. But the percentage of negro's that shouldn't be QB in the NFL is almost 100% It's all PR Bullshit and the NFL knows it.

  • @rudykuhn how come these lowly negros are able 2 intercept these so-called supreme whites

  • @getDun2012 y don't u shut your racist ass up

  • @DaAmericanWanksta fool im black i guess u dont understand sarcasm

  • @getDun2012 my bad i ain't kno i'm reallt sorry for the misunderstanding

  • @DaAmericanWanksta no problem young brother keep in mind who the devil is and u will not lose

  • Rush wasn't being racist here. He was just being retarded. McNabb is very good, and this is coming from a Giants fan.

  • ok lets see, its been what 10 11 years that mc nabb hasnt come through in the big game. you can talk about the defense, the recievers, offensive line, it all comes down toi the..QB...he is the star, the leader of the team. and he is a choke artist. he doesnt have the mind set to be a winner, he would rather ham it up for the camera, chase straham around the field, answer the phone on a run out of bounds. no winning QB does that..but he does like the cmaera, and now he is blaming recievers.

  • rush retard at it again.

  • I find it interesting that the people who dog McNabb fail to offer any evidence other than his lack of a ring, which is a fairly weak point, imo. Yet more evidence to me that they just won't admit Rush is wrong, and that it has more to do with Rush than McNabb...

  • Rush limbaugh should die of aids twice

  • Comment removed

  • rush fuck you

  • McNabb is the most efficient QB att/int in the history of the NFL

Only Tom Brady and Steve Young have a better TD-INT career ratio

    5x Pro Bowl selection

5 NFC Championship games and a Super Bowl

Only Brady and Manning have won more games and have a higher winning % over the course of his career

Threw 4 TDs on a busted fuckin leg!

Not only was Rush's comment inappropriate for the show he was on, he is also incorrect, McNabb is bomb. As for Irvin, he hates Philly, and understandably so.

  • @GrassValleyGreg

McNabb is overated plus that was in 03 what seperates McNabb from the Great QB's is that Superbowl Ring bud

  • There are plenty of great QBs that don't have rings. A QB cannot single-handedly win a Super Bowl. And they were in the NFC Championship last year, and McNabb played well as I recall...

And I don't care when the busted leg heroics happened, they happened did they not?

  • true but McNabb still doe not have the stats to be a great QB is to either have a superbowl with good stats or have amazing stats like Marino or Tarkenton and McNabb is nowhere near those two

  • See my list below for some great stats by McNabb, and to continue...

He is 30th in passing yards, and will likely be at least 15th by the end of his career. (10 of the current top 15 are HOFers)

He'll likely be in the top 10 in wins by retirement (All 10 are HOFers)

25th in TDs, on pace to crack top 20 (15 of the top 20 are HOFers)

He is 111th in INTs, where he has only 3 more than Brady. Above him on the list are 27 HOFers, including Fran and Dan.

I could go on and on. McNabb is bomb.

  • you ever heard of shots, they can't feel the pain. Rivers played for the super bowl on tore acl and almost won against brady should we go head and put him in the hall of fame

and why do you say he won a super bowl one min and not the next? If your goin to say he played in super bowl ok, but if you list it as an accomplishment that means he won one and he didn't which i think u kno either way name a great quarter back that is still talked about regularly that hasn't won super bowl w/o google

  • Well I assumed that most people watching this vid are aware that McNabb lost in the SB.. Just as I don't think anyone would accuse you of deceit for saying Rivers has played in a SB with a torn ACL.

And yes, they have cortizone shots, but we've seen broken legs before and since... How many of those guys came back in and kicked ass?

And how much QBs are talked about is totally irrelevant to how good they are. Marino, Tarkenton, and Fouts are all great, and Elway was old when he finally won.

  • @GrassValleyGreg In 2000-2001 season Donavan Mcnabb threw 4 touchdowns on a broken leg vs. san francisco led by jeff garcia and terrel owens.

He thought his leg got icked on a hit he took early on in the Game, later tests showed that his leg was actually BROKEN!

People forget he's hardly ever had good consistent recievers and his coach refuses to run the ball and calls dumb plays.

Give us rex Ryan and we'll winn the SB three years in a row.

  • he can suk donovons dik

  • what the fuck is he talking about? He got alot of credit for the performance of this team? When was the last time he had a good WR besides DeSean Jackson, and T.O? When he did have T.O he went to the suberbowl, can tony homo lead the cowboys to the SB with T.O+ all those great WRs on his team? No? but hes ranked so highly? Now that we have desean jackson we're #1 on NFC east atm.

P.S. Even madden09 doesnt put any special abilities under our WRs, just a giant cannon for McNabb.

  • you freaking idiot. Read the comments and how aweful McNabb was when he said this. He's developed into a pretty darn good QB now. I'm sure Rush would say that. LOL you gotta be kidding me.

  • Limberg is a dumb ass

  • I'm so sick of every time a white man use's the word black man it doesn't matter what follows it its racist... people are so ignorant that's his opinion why can't it just be right. how about when blacks say white men can't play basketball, dance, or any of the other many things you think whites can't do but let a white man say a black man can't do something, oh your a racist. and for the record McNabb will never amount to nething he is a weak quarterback

  • Thats why he's the best qb in eagles history, he is the least intercepted qb per attempt and has a td/interception ratio better than Peyton Manning, Drew brees, Eli Manning, Tony Romo, Carson Palmer, Joe Flacco, Matt Ryan, and every qb ever except Brady and Steve Young. Your simply wrong, hes a great qb.

  • Are you so stupid, you just said he's better than Manning, Brees??? LOL.

  • I said his TD to INT ratio was better than all those guys. Learn to read/comprehend dumbass. My god the idiots youtube attracts amazes me to this day.

  • I'm not even goin to speak to your ignorance chuck when it comes to football, but the reality is you have nothing to say to my overall point and attack and opinion i stated at the end, really jerk off? How about u comment again when u actually want to debate the subject at hand dick wad. The reality is my overall point is right, u know it, have nothing to say, so u decide to attack my opinion with a pointless stat that jus shows me McNabb is scared to throw the football

  • How has mcnabb lasted 11 years if he is a bad QB, on one team no less?!? And I can name one Qb without a SB that people still talk about. His name is Marino. Remember? He was the dolphins great. Ringing any bells? Dont call me ignorant about football when you dont even know Dan Fucking Marino. Also Warren Moon is a hall of famer with no ring. So we've established you dont know what the fuck you are talking about. So what now moron?

  • ok retard finish my sentence before commenting, "without google". I'm not saying you can't be a good quarterback with out ring. But the reality is to be a great quarterback u have to produce rings. And how are you goin to get ur reply based on a convo I had wit someone else and say wut now? who's the moron? the idiot who can't read a whole sentence or one who states his opinion. The reality when a quarterback is brought in the owners want rings and the ability to produce them = greatness

  • The Eagles at the time were 0-2 and were outscored 48-10 in their first two games.

  • Look it up... at the time Rush made these comments, McNabb was the SECOND LOWEST RATED STARTING QB IN THE NFL. At that point, he'd thrown ZERO TDs and 2 Picks...and also lost two fumbles. In his first 6 games that season, McNabb threw 2 TDs and 6 INTs.

  • Rush should be slapped for being so damn stupid.

The white media and the white fan base is looking to overstate the talent of blacks in a league in which 90% of the top talent is black?

    A blindingly stupid comment.

They are looking to create white superstars -- which is why they try to keep the coaches and QBs white. If they tried to put whites as cornerback, wide receiver, etc., the quality of play would drop so much it would kill their tv ratings

  • LOL. How funny you show yourself as ignorant. SO... let me get this straight. The 'FORCE' white people into rolls they are in? Your right about the quality of play doing down if whites played WR, CB's, and so on...but the same thing would happen if they put blacks (not all, but some) at QB/coaches. LOL There are black QBs/coaches, and White WR/LB and so on. You made such an ignorant statement.

  • ..."but the same thing would happen if they put blacks (not all, but some) at QB/coaches".

    Really? Your evidence for this?

All we can clearly see is that blacks are completely dominant in every non kicking position on the football field that they are allowed to play. Is this not quite clear?

  • No. In fact that was a completely IDIOTIC statement. I don't think QB's kick and whites DOMINATE blacks at QB. For every McNabb there's a Steve Largent. I'm not saying it's a racist line you idiot. But white QB's for the most part are FAR superior to black QB's. So I don't clearly see what the hell you are talking about. Steelers coach was black last year, but MOST THE TIME white coaches win the Superbowl. So, again, I don't think coaches kick...you idiot. Whtes better QB's and coaches

  • "But white QB's for the most part are FAR superior to black QB's".

Unbelievable. Their eyes appear to be open, but they are blinded

  • Well they are if you want to draw a race line LOL. The point is, Rush wasn't being racist, it's stupid to say he was. McNabb was shit when he said it, and has developed into a good QB. And if you think I'm racist, I don't give a shit. I don't care if people think I'm racist. All I know if I would probably take McNabb over Romo the homo LOL. But I would take Palmer, Manning, Brady, Brees, Ryan, and about 8 more over McNabb haha. Get real. I also really liked McNair. Vick is trash.

  • Rush was being stupid.

The NFL, television, and the white fan base is looking for good black atheletes.

    Insane

  • McNabb got the job because he's black? You fucking kidding me? Don't know if you're a racist or if Rush is a racist but last I checked there is no affirmative action in the NFL. The only way you keep your job is if you're playing well. Saying McNabb has a job because he's black is probably the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

  • Coaches are part of the NFL. Look up the Rooney Rule.

  • Right, I know. But McNabb isn't a coach. I meant for players, sorry!!

  • what's the big fricken deal, what he said is true McNabb sucks and got the job because he's black, by the way their is no asians in the NFL and only 2 hispanics the NFL is racist!

  • Dat Nguyen & Kailee Wong two of the hardest hitters I've ever seen...

  • really though why was rush even on espn to begin with? since when is he a football expert?

  • He was once a radio announcer for the Chiefs.

  • Alas, another "racialized" controversy... How refreshing.

  • Rush is Right .......Just look at what happened this past weekend. LOL

  • Rush is right.

  • this is a 28 second blurb of the COMPLETE statement. You all are hypocrites calling him racist, but thats atypical of cowardice!

  • I dont think these comments were racist but I do think he was wrong. He implies that McNabb gets a pass in the media and that was not true. He gets criticized as much as any other QB. I dont think the media cares at all who is successful or who is not successful in the NFL. What do they gain by McNabb's success? Or failure for that matter.

  • Agree 100%. He gets criticized like you said, maybe more than any other QB in the NFL, mostly because of where he plays. I don't know if Rush is a racist or makes racist comments but you have to wonder because his statement makes no sense at all and media hype has nothing to do with what color your skin is. If your playing good football, making plays, of course the media will take notice.

  • mcnabb is overated. he sucks actually.

  • The media and ESPN were hyping McNabb because he was an exciting player to watch. He might not have been the best QB but he made some exciting plays. If he wanted to say that McNabb is overrated and not as good as people make him out to be, that's fine.

I don't really believe that the media was hyping McNabb because he was black. There was a reason he was being hyped and it's because he was an exciting player to watch, especially since no one thought he would succeed in the NFL.

  • Hey, wasn't Abraham Lincoln a Republican,

    he helped end Slavery

Southern Slave owners were generally Democrats

    Hmmm?

  • yes you are right.. but you are talking about 150 years ago - and the party ideologies were nothing like they are today. A lot of things changed during the 1960's - and the Dems became the party that embraced minorities, etc. Rush is a good example of how out of touch many republicans are today.... He's a moron

  • i wonder if rush blamed obama for this too?

  • Am I missing something? What was the problem with what he just said?? Is this the entire conversation? He isnt allowed to own an NFL team for that?!?! LMAO u gotta be fuckin kidding me (I no I no not just bcuz of that comment)

  • I can't believe he says this on a panel with three black guys and doesn't expect them to be pissed off. He's an ignorant moron.

  • Tom Jackson didn't say anything about that statement that week. He waited a full week, until they wrote him a good speach so that he could be outraged about comments pointing to the media playing favorites. Tom Jackson is a little female dog!

  • Maybe at that point in time, 2003, McNabb wasn't as good a QB as he is today but he was a well known player who could pass ok but was making exciting plays with his feet, although he doesn't do it much anymore. If a player is doing good things, whether they are black or white, of course the media will try to hype them. To me, it doesn't make sense what Rush said and he seems like he's the one trying to bring race into a topic about whether or not McNabb is a good QB. It was unnecessary

  • Comment removed

  • people need to let this shit die

  • thats not racist stop bitching

  • Rush Limbaugh can't be racist!

Any perception of racism by a right-winger is simply imaginary.

The right can't be racist, since the right-wing says there is no such thing as racism by the right-wing.

Only minorities, liberals and Democrats can be racist, but not Republicans and the right-wing.

Oddly enough, that allows the right-wing to be as racist as they want, since right-wing racism doesn't exist.

  • grow up

  • i know your being sarcastic but it was the right that ended slavery and it was the right that overwhemling voted for the civil rights act. and senator Robert Byrd (D-WV) was a KKK member. and don't forget democrat Governor George Wallace came to national prominence when he kept a campaign pledge to stand in the schoolhouse door to block integration of Alabama public schools.

  • those comments were made after the Eagles started 0 and 2 in the 2003 season

  • I dont think he meant it in a racist way just the way the world took it was racist out of his mouth. But he shouldnt have said it. If he wouldve just kept it as a "QB and Coaches not black coaches and black Ob this wouldve been avoided but he still shouldve have said it

  • In essence a QB is as good as his weapons. Rush is wrong about McNabb. McNabb never had a harrison, moss, rice, or even a ochocinco in his early years; but look what happened when he had T.O Year 1 they go to the super bowl!! Once again a QB is as good as his weapons; and for McNabb to reach the NFC champ. before he had a quality reciever year after year shows us how good he really is!!!!

  • Um, Turd Owens missed the last few games of that season & the entire post season. They won w/ out him. When he came back for the SB, he had a career game & they lost. It wasn't turd O, it was the threat of the all purpose (factor) back & a spread W.C.O. The eagles were the winningest team in football from '01-'03.

  • #1 Im a philly fan;are you? #2 If your going to make fun of someone at least spell the insult correctly!! TURD i believe is spelled TERD!!!And #3 with that "All purpose back and that W.C.O. where did they go from 01-03 to nfc championship; not to the superbowl. So you have to give credit where it is due. Owens had 74 catches and 1244 and 12 TDs before he missed those last 3 games. Respect the TERD!!!!!

  • so if i say larry bird was an over rated NBA player and i was black would that be racist? yes it would but spike lee got away with saying it. what if i'm white and said Michael Jordon sucked at Baseball is that racist? No because MJ even said he was a less than average performer when it came to baseball. McNab is a stellar QB now (2009) but in 2003 he sucked. NOT a racist statement in 2003, more like stating the facts. if said today i would say racist statement because McNab is a better QB

  • I agree with you.. But i don't think the problem is the fact that hes white and said what he did.. But the fact that he felt he needed to comment on the media wanting a black qb to succeed and shit sounded a bit racist.. He could have just said McNabb is overated and not a great QB in general and leave the race shit out of it..

  • he didnt just say he was overrated he said the media is hyping up black qbs and coaches just because they are black

if he just said he was overated noone would be talking about it, dont look at shit by what you thnk the person was tring to say, look at it how it is said

  • The truth hurts , huh

  • That was really not bad, and I was gonna come here to poop on Rush's name and then I actually listened to what he said.

  • I agree with what CWhick is trying to say - McNabb CLEARLY IS GOOD... Rush is trying to discredit him because of his race, hence why he is considered a racist.

  • how was that racist?

  • It's racist because McNabb is CLEARLY a GOOD quarterback.

  • Haha - McNabb wasn't considered by ANYONE a GOOD quarterback until AT LEAST sometime after the 2003 season. These comments were made in the middle of the 2003 season.

Besides, if you watched the show, the BLACK ANALYSTS AGREE with him (he was probably an above average quarterback in my opinion though).

    Nothing racist here.

  • I agree with what you say, though I'd like to touch into what you said a bit.

He's an above average QB when he isn't getting hurt, which isn't often. He's the most danger-proned QB I've ever heard of in my life. My family is huge on the Eagles, and they all agree he should not be the lead QB. He'd be safer if he was made of glass.

  • whats the big deal crap liek this happens all the time. why does it take a white man to point it out when its obvious to everyone. rush gets shit because a white man cant say black EVER. i like mcnab, hair on my neck stands up when i see a quarterback run through guys for yardage. wish he would come play here in seattle get rid of wussy ass hastlepeck

  • Didn't black football players do well long before McNabb got in? Wtf is limbaugh talking about?

  • that really wasn't that bad. There was a black reported on ESPN that said a Duke player wouldn't make it in the NBA because he was another nonathletic white big man. That didn't get any media coverage

  • yeah, but that reporter isn't a national talk show host who makes a living by making bold statements.

  • if your on ESPN you are on a national stage. Racial discrimination works more then just white men against every other sex and race.White men to have racial discrimination also.Sadly this is rarely recognized. What Limbaugh said here really wasn't that bad he said that he believed someone had gotten a pass because of race and a want for someone of a specific race to do well at a position that had been dominated by another race. That really isn't that bad he didn't use racial slures just an opinion

  • well you should have pushed for it

  • All Rush was stating is that the media hype was out of porportion to the reality, and that is it! It put McNabb in a position that he couldn't win unless he was superman, and Rush was simply pointing that out , that the media was unfair in the hype of the topic. I remebeber that time and the way the media went on it was to me very racists that just because someone is black or a minority, that they may not be able to handle the scrunity of others if there performance didnt surpass expectations

  • rush is 100% right ...

  • Donovan McNabb is 1st ballot HOF. Period

  • Maybe when St. Louis plays Philly and gets a kick'n, then Hush Limpballs will have a differant more a realistic view. Of course if Donovan comes on with a litle animosity the score could easily sore to 52-0 Philly, watcha gonna say Hush?

  • What is cut off is the response from Tom Jackson and Michael Irvin on the set... they seemed to affirm (or at least consider) Rush's point. For the record, I'm a HUGE McNabb fan (favorite player since Randall Cunningham and first pick in my fantasy draft)... but Rush's point was about the media as much as it was about Donovan's play.

  • Finally, an objective rational response from someone who generally would have a predisposition. Everyone should take notes.

  • It would be so nice to change his name & his 'style' to HUSH Limbaugh. Donovan McNabb is awesome!

  • I think mcnabb is better this year than any other year i've seen him play. so basically in 2003 or whenever rush said this I think he was right. But if he said it now he would be wrong.

  • In Limbaugh's mind, Whenever a black person does well, it must be affirmative action that caused it. He says he believes in a system where the best prosper but when they do if they're black it must be affirmative action or some help of some kind. Everyone gets help with Something Rush, all he does is sit on his fat ass and talk a lot of shit anyway, isn't that what he gets paid for? lol.

  • If you'd pay attention to what Rush says on the air, you'd know that he's always said anyone of any race can succeed on their own. All they have to do is show up & work hard everyday. He says that all minorities are taught to wait in line for handouts from the govt & that stiffles the urge to succeed. All you have to do is go to peoples park in berkeley on the 1st of any month & look for the non-existent homeless. They're all cashing in their govt check (not from the current stimulus).
