Awesome! If you guys dig this, check out my bands channel for more brutal music! We're a Central Ohio band formed in 2011, with quality mp3 recordings of our songs. We come out with music weekly, so subscribe and leave us a comment if you like us!
the key/meter changes have smoother flow and make for easier listening. but the original - technology or rudimentary blueprint or whatever - gives you a sense of all mainstream culture he disdains, contrasted with the (beautiful harmonizing of) private revelry in "bicycle race" (a tour de france tight bod in lycra lol) that shuts out the outside world he's disgusted by. so the jarring changes have a purpose.
Covers help broaden people's often restricted musical taste. They actually lead me to new bands more than the radio or forums or any other public medium. You like what you like and thats simple, but the fact is a genre is a falsity and its really all just MUSIC. Which is why music is so fucking cool and spans cultural and continental divides becuase it speaks to everyone in the same language.
Another thing it does is it gives BTBAM's listening audience a chance to experience amazing bands that they may have overlooked. Have you heard BTBAM's cover of Us and Them by Pink Floyd? I don't think I would have gotten into Floyd if it weren't for that cover to open my eyes to 'em.
@zucky22389 hmm, i dont think i would have ever gotten into btbam if it werent for the Us and Them cover. Still believe the acoustic melody of colour blind is choice, but its all opinions anyways.
We are proof there is more value to bands playing other band's shit than strictly quality and enjoyability of a cover or song period. Which in itself is purely subjective anyways for reasons including what fckth3systm said above and becuase a cover is not an original composition (obvious I know).
@riotthecha the floyd cover is majestic. almost perfect. the only thing i can say about it is that the saxophone solo is too buried in the mix. other than that, its perfect
I dont believe good cover albums are competitive by nature, i believe that the artists involved are tying to shed a new light on a song that influenced them as in this case. Other bands may try to take a song and add a new message or twist to it. What separates a good cover from a bad is when you can tell that a band loved the song and, therefore, loves to play it. As a musician i would never think a song was "a great" or "classic" if i thought i could do it better even if it had flaws.
Its a tribute...their whole cd this is on is a tribute to the bands that fuse together to make their sound, they didnt aim to be better, or sound better, its a tribute to their heroes.
a cover isnt supposed to be a carbon copy, its too close to the original

btbam made this album to get off victory
Grungeisdead36 1 year ago
@Grungeisdead36 obviously that's not true cuz they put out "colors" and "the great misdirect" on Vitctory and are just now on Metal Blade
riotthecha 11 months ago
@Grungeisdead36 Actually, Victory made them record this because they wanted them to have an album when they played Ozzfest.

i know i'll be despised for saying it, but i think i actually like this better than the original lol.
it's probably just due to all the the technological advancements since Queen first recorded it, but it's still an awesome cover nonetheless.

What I love about this cover is that, even though it sticks to the original fairly well, BTBAM adds their own spin on it which makes it awesome.
