  • Yeah, I thought Patriot was awesome when I was about 10 years old, watching him in the GWF. Used to always come on TV right after school so I watched it a lot.

  • Anyone know where the Tugboat Taylor vs Sting match went??? I can't find it anywhere

  • i watched this after school on espn lol

  • tom brandi and del wilkes are the patriot.

  • "Jump!!!!".. lol I used to love the Patriot as a kid. For me he was the GWF's equivalent to a Hogan or Sting. He was the guy I identified with that company. Ofcourse he wrestled in WCW and WWF but when I think of the Patriot I think of the North American title and the GWF

  • I loved this dude! I remember when he went to WCW with a tag team partner and they were so cool.

  • they should let the patriot aka captain america

  • I used to love watching GWF when I was a kid. The Patriot was one of my favorite wrestlers.

  • @rrw1981 same here. I'd rush home from school to catch it on tv

  • jeff....something (your post isnt shown here) - forgot name

Yeah it was a great fued. it lasted a while.

  • I know the Patriot was pissed when wwf started billing him by his real name...."The Patriot" Del Wilkes.... but I thought he gave or sold the rights to Tom Brandi?

  • @wulfiebear Naw, I think Wilkes is the only one to ever dawn the Patriot Mask, LOL, Accept for Doug Gilbert, He was the Dark Patriot, I'm pretty positive on this, but may be wrong, IDK? But pretty sure.

  • I Loved The Patriot, he was the Hulk Hogan/Sting of the upstart GWF at the time, LOL, boy did he fall off the map afterwards, other than his stints in WCW & WWF, which were both forgettable, he didn't even come remotely close to that stature again.

  • He was The Trooper in AWA during the end in 1990..the AWA Tag team champion (with DJ Peterson)

  • @gtz1975 LOL @ The Trooper, he'd whip some jobbers ass & then write him up a Ticket, LOL, that was classic.

  • @JeffTheFutureJaros i remember. yeah gwf was great. patriot was my fav as well. remember the dark patriot(doug gilbert)?

  • @TeslaDRay Yes sir, the Dark Patriot vs Patriot was a big fued for GWF then, LOL

  • the patriot was good wrestling at the time i wish he was in tna

  • yes you or right,

  • Is GWF the same fed that had the HBK knock-off called "Beach Boy" Shawn Summers? I also remember seing Sean Waltman in GWF as Lightning Kid, but he was a heel.

  • funny hearing buddy landel talk about being the only nature boy. yeah right. just the worst.

  • Who was doing play by play with Joe Pedicino?

  • Craig Johnson

  • We need the Patriot nowadays. I loved watching this when I got home from school on ESPN.

  • we do...Tom Brandi stole the character from Del Wilkes and uses it in Independent Feds

  • I agree with both of u guys..the Patriot gimmick is VERY MUCH needed right now..always been one of my favorites...

  • btw, I read that Tom Brandi supposedly "bought" the mask and gimmick from Del Wilkes..don't know how much truth there is to that, but someone should "buy it back" from Brandi..it's being wasted!

  • Del Wilkes gave him the patriot gimmick. He can't wrestle anymore cause steroids have destroyed his body

  • then why is Del Wilkes calling him a fraud and saying he stole the character on radio???? go look it up.

  • Did you know that Wilkes sold the rights to the Patriot gimmick to Brandi? Thats right, and after getting out of prison Wilkes is off drugs & selling cars. I always liked Wilkes as the Patriot better myself & i wish he was still the Patriot maybe in TNA cause i HATE WWvince.

  • well that answers my question. but why would he sell it to him and then claim Brandy stole it? some people man.

  • I wouldn't know. I've never heard that before. Do you remember where you heard that from?

  • on the internet the audio transcript from a wrestling radio show was posted with an interview with Del Wilikes. he was pretty pissed about it. someone that pissed off about the happening most likely didnt sell it to the guy.

  • I know that ever time i find info on the subject, it always just states that he just sold his rights. I 'll try to find some info on it, if you get bored try aswell and we'll swap info.

  • yea for the life of me i cant remember but it was a big radio show for the wrestling world i just cant really remember

  • @PaganAndrews Are you sure?

  • usa,usa.

  • wow, i think this or wwf superstars was the first wrestling i've ever watched on tv.

  • i remember this the gwf used to be on when i got home from school i used to watch it all the time. the patriot was my favorite.

  • I remember the GWF. Sweet memories.

  • Why did the GWF fold? Anyone know?

  • In 1992, the Global Wrestling Federation was sued by then World Wrestling Federation because they felt the use of the word "Global" was in the same definition as the word "World."

  • money problems

  • They were definately trying to push Del "The Patriot" Wilkes as the Hulk Hogan/Sting of the GWF. It didn't work out that well though.

  • yeah, I really hated that, I always thought the Patriot was a GREAT gimmick. Del Wilkes may have been a few steps off at times, but I think the character had great potential, especially during this time, coming a few years off the 1st Gulf War.

  • Man I loved the Patriot.

  • Tugboat Taylor is a way better wrestler than Typhoon/Fred Ottman.

  • Typhoon was involved in the "Shockmaster" incident in WCW...look it up on youtube you will see a very funny and embarrassing promo lol.

  • Tugboat taylor and Typhoon are 2 different people.

  • Yeah I know they are. I know Tugboat Taylor he has an indy wrestling promotion in my area, I go see it every month. I was just saying Typhoon (The other WWF Tugboat), was also in WCW and he did the "Shockmaster" gimmick there was a funny promo including Sting, Brittish Bulldog, Harlem Heat and Sid Vicious. Look up "The Shockmaster" it's funny.

  • thats not typhoon

  • wwf should have called patriot much earlier

  • WHOA, SCOTT HUDSON! Man... he was bald for a long time, lol.

Buddy Landell... man, that promo sucked, lol.

  • Its Chad Bryant!

  • who's chad bryant? that's not typhoon is it?
