  • Why $1800 price tag? For four channels only, just because it runs on batteries? I got two Behringers which are 16 channels, for $100 each! Anywho, don't get me wrong, I got Sony DMX-P01, the only digital portable mixer that I am aware of, which has AES/EBU, so I understood the high price tag. I also like the new Fostex FM-4 cool OLED, and good looking overal desigh. But for this Wendt $1800? You gotta be joking.

  • @dvamateur I use an X4 for my work, and it is worth every penny, and still cheaper than comparable units from PSC and Sound Devices. What you get with Wendt is solid durable construction, a very simple interface, and amazing pre-amps that output the cleanest possible signal. Also, I can't rave about Wendt without talking about the limiter on that thing. Suffice to say, I've never had a problem with clipping. So yeah, $1800, but you get what you pay for.

  • @staticchicken Oh, I see, so if it has good mic preamps, then I understand then. By the way, the Sony DMX-P01 that I have, it is supposed to be one of the cleanest mixers when it comes to internal processing, etc. But to my surprise, its pre-amps are pretty noisy. And I can hear the hiss clearly without even any microphone connected to it. And it's not the headphone amp, becuase the noise increases when I turn the the input level knobs clockwise. I mean, that shouldn't be, right?
