Wow, this blew my mind! I have an upcoming jazz flute solo on a piece called "Dawns Awakening" and my band director told me to search for this video because of your vibrato and smoothness. :) You are absolutely fantastic, I just want to listen to you play for hours!
@hinarugirl Hey. Thanks for checking me out :-) Glad you could listen for hours, because I could play for hours. ;-) Can you give me the exact time of the flutter tonguing; I can definitely try to give you some advice if you point it out. Do you play open hole or closed hole?
@streetprotege Sorry for the delayed response. I didn't see this until know. Thanks for pressing the "rewind" .... I am definitely honored and thankful! :-)
Hey .... thanks :-) I learned the song through a combination of listening and reading. I believe I learned it initially for a rep. development class. I would suggest memorizing the words and play it like you are singing it.
from humber dude? cant wait, im coming in the fall hehe. very very good interpretation, im sure mr ray charles would've liked this version as much as many do already :D
True musicianship not just playing individual notes but lingering and feeling each note so your audience feels it. This reminds me a clip on PBS' jazz series. Beautifully done, you can feel the music.
At around 3:11 and im playing open hole :)

Also, did you flutter tongue at (near) the end? How would you give advice on making the response quicker for flutter tongue?

Absolutely brilliant. Who are some of your influences?
SpeedOfDark186Kmps 3 years ago
Mainly vocalists. Ella Fitzgerald, Dinah Washington, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston.
I might be playing notes but trust me I'm singing it.
