  • Fantastic video, your camera-presence is great. You play so beautifully! I've recently picked my old viola up again (last I played was... 10 years ago) and am sort of starting over again. Thank you for the help!

    @AngelixArch

I beg to differ; I myself was forced to learn to play the piano, and I positively despised it at the beginning. My parents had to threaten to take privileges away to get me to practice, and I wanted to quit quite often. However, I have continued to play for 13 years, by my

  • After applying this wonderful technique I realized I was holding my hand and wrist just like I do when playing classical guitar. Thanks for your video/audio efforts.

  • never point a camera into a lighted area...

  • wow. thanks alot! that really helped :) hmm, do you think you can do one on how to cooralate your fingers and bow when playing 16th notes and such? cuz im 1st chair viola at my highschool and im having a problem with that to where its not accurate & i feel im misleading the other viola players! if you could do this, id greatly appreciate it! please and thank you! :)
  • I can't thank you enough for this video. I'm a professional Violist in an Opera Orchestra, and it still helped me a great deal.

Please do some more. How about Vibrato exercises? Left-hand agility? Martele? I'd be happy to see your take on anything.

You said you felt self-conscious, but you did great.

  • thanks never been told that be for : )

  • really helpful, thank you very much.

It would be great if you could post more material like this.

    Cheers

  • wow that helps alot thanks!!!

  • thank you for your instructions.

  • wow you think a lot!!!

  • Thank you, thank you.... I've never been taught that before, I'll be practicing that always now. Thank you very much.

  • Your explanation was very thorough. I have been playing the violin for many years, and I have never head of the clock exercise. I'll be sure to use it! Thank you!!!

  • I am 46 and have a viola in my closet, I have not played sence the 7th grade that is almost 35 years ago, I now have 2 chidern of my own. I want them to learn. I could kick myself for not contenuing my lessions. my kids will play if it kills them

  • @babytaz2yo Well, it's never too late, you could always take lessons with your kids!

  • @babytaz2yo

That's a bit sad to force your child to play something that they may not like. I for instance chose to play the violin. No one else made me play it, just myself. Those who aren't motivated will only 'learn' how to play, they will never excel and be better than that.

  • That was very informative, thank you for giving your expertise. I am a new viola player, on my seventh lesson, and excited about it! Watching your exercise and explanation made my teacher's instruction more clear. And corrected my bow hold, lol. Wish me luck playing French Folk Song at age 24 in front of a group of teachers, and students who have been playing from childhood! :O

  • Thanks for your kind explanation. Very helpful.

  • Hi,i am Jose, and i have a request.First you are excellent as a teacher, can you give some lessons about vibrato and third position in violin or viola, thank.

  • Cool. You reminds me of my teacher. thanks for posting and keep on teaching. 5 stars
