Well I tought I'd seen all the meteor hammer on youtube thought i was going to have to buy an advanced DVD to get new skills till now he he he.....I knew you could use your feet now i know how yaaay thanks for posting ^-^

@ boulder: it is not just a throwing weapon, but a propulsion weapon. @sythe you are correct, those are not hammers... a hammer IS made of steel in a number of ways, mine is made from steel ring that i put together tightly in a manner similar to making chain maille. and @dwayne: you could learn to do it easy. Start with rope with knots at the ends. Just a big knot with enough mass to get a little momentum so you can get used to it. or with tennis balls at the ends of strings.

I could be wrong but this looks like a throwing weapon. You would throw it at an animal and they would tangle up in it. Also while you weren't hunting you still had your bowls and rope!

While the spinning with the feet and all makes for an impressive show I don't see any practical use for it.

they aren't meteor hammers, they are meteors, fire meteors to be precise, note the inverted metal bowls on the ends for fuel. the meteor hammer is a military weapon with one mace-like head. meteors are purely for performance, and are very noticeably different in style.

Actually, the meteor hammer can have one or two heads. They're also known as flying hammers, and were originally made for hunting.

when they swing it with one hand, they firstly turn it using one hand to gain momentum then they practically let go and let the meteor spin around their wrist 180 degrees then when it come back round spin it with their hand again, then back to the wrist.

These are meteor hammers. The longer ones with only 1 weight are rope darts.

look at the shaolin meteor hammmer demonstration that one on has one wieght o well still just as cool in my opinion and still a very skillfull weapon

This is inaccurate. The main difference between meteor hammer and rope dart is only in the shape/mass of the object at the end of the rope, which is why meteor hammer is often referred to as the rope dart's big brother. Most only use one weight, but either weapon can have two, though I've never seen a double rope dart. Clearly the skill level involved jumps exponentially when adding another weight. These guys are freaking spectacular.

that was amazing. they kept that thing so straight even though it seemed like a rope and they did it with there feet sometime..crazy. Amazing tricks involved too, must've took years of practive. Great Job

Well it is not speficly wushu but wushu is a wepaons martial art and memeteor hammer is a wushu wepaon. And these guys have the same stile and acromatic movements as wushu. I take wushu and have been competing for a little while and I can tell they have to be in a martial art similar to wushu. Not to sound snoty or anything.

wushu was always just for demonstration silly. Why do you think Bruce Lee made up Jeet kune do? Because he wanted to include the ability to fight with his agile wushu movements. Think of all the wushu you've ever seen. Do you think anyone could fight that fast for that long if it wasn't choreographed? They'd be smart enough to at least hit some knuckles (men in tights style) if it was "for killing". Not to bad mouth the pursuit in Wushu, but honestly it was for opera.
