Ah jeeze - I stumbled over this recently and had not thought of this game or the virtual comrades I played with back then in a long time. I remember this tribute well now that Im watching it again. S! SDS and all my virtual friends in AST back in the day.
@wwiiolvideo Yes it was WW2OL, he passed in 2004. I remember correctly his handle was wiesel, or something along that line. He played Axis quite a lot. His first name was William if that helps. The only way I know this is because I used to watch him play this everyday, oddly enough I am trying to get a better computer to play as well, only this time I am going to play on the allies :P

Actually WillSing, there is no Vet321 listed on the CSR for the game and I personally attended this funeral, perhaps you are confusing this with another game, or another funeral held at the same location ingame.
Vet 321 Died , That was his funeral , it was way back in 2007. Vet 321 was actually in World War 2, But he died of some Disease. That is the Funeral. He was a General. In Real Life , And in Game.
you know what, this right here shows the maurity of this community and the brotherhood in this game, this shows that not all online games are full of assholes maybe this shows hope for our world that people still belive in friendship. this tribute really hit me in a tough way, to show that people care about one another, i didnt even know him or even played this game , i want to and probably will but this is very sad and this man was lucky to have people like this.
I just tried this game....It was riddled with bug and the community was full of ass holes....the second i started to talk about how something was wrong with my game the players kept saying that it was my fault and that i was stupid and so on and that i needed to learn the game (even tho i did)and so on. Even after a gm told me that the issue was with me and threatened to ban me for life, i just stopped a day later i find out on the forums that the issue was indeed a bug and a big one at that.
I remember that. man i miss those days. i played 4 months after its reslease 6/6/2000 i think, and stoped in 2006 for a deployment. i just need a better comp. . . ISHMAL

@archymtln I can see an AO/MSP hater from a mile off. However, the current just released version of the game is an incredibly lethal spectacular environment, where tanks can sweep an area and slug it out, but the infantry can come to grips with them and each other if they are very very careful. You are missing out if you are turning your nose up at the game now.

The game does not have a virus, except for being addictive if you crave hardcore no mercy combat.
Piloting can be very harsh as these are people who have been playing online air games for 15-20 years, but you can certainly jump in. Best to join a squad to show you the ropes and give yourself a chance to learn without exploding so much.
@Thewolf878 Yes you can switch from infantry to AA guns to antitank guns to trucks to planes to ships to paratroopers. You can also play French or British while Allied and can switch between sides with a timeout period between.
@alperenaaa It's both strategy AND first person. As a soldier, pilot or sailor you are fighting to take towns on the map. Whoever takes 90% or so of the map wins. The campaign runs 24/7 until there is a winner, period. A single campaign can sometimes take months. You spawn equipment from a unit that can be moved on the map. If your unit is destroyed, it does not come back for 7 hours, or more. You can spawn another, but no one can spawn the one destroyed on your side until it is replaced.
I never really heard of this until the video was put up, plus I don't have the game myself, but I bet he was a good man, husband, and most of all, a father...

No, Americans are not in the game, this game assumes France does not necessarily lose. But a lot of equipment is American as historically the French did not last long enough to have produced their own advanced weapons.

Number one, we didn't know about his death until a month or two afterwards. Families rarely consider gaming communities during grieving.
Number two, our relationship with Sdshill was ingame, so that is a natural place to commemorate him. It's like going to a bowling alley or a softball field to commemorate someone who played in those games.
Number three, it is the place all of us, both the regular players and the forum folks, could come together readily.
Me? Not so many friends, the people who play the game and post for him honor Sdshill not me.
What's interesting is the folks dropping by who don't know the game at all and are affected by the video.
As for s-game, if you are talking graphics this was shot in 2003, 6 years ago, the game looks better now, the gameplay requires a different mindset then the normal action/eye candy stuff. Believe me after awhile you don't even notice the terrain- other then ambush spots the enemy could be in...

We've made it clear that this funeral was for a real person who had a real death, your commentary is unwanted, not appreciated, speaks of the punklike weak character your parents apparently instilled in you, and you can go your miserable way somewhere else.
I should mention that another squaddie just died, and so we're going to likely have another memorial service, and they are not fun. I would just as soon not go to anymore.
The game is Battleground Europe, you can google and find it quickly. It is a MMORPG in which you can fight in WWII equipment in land, air and sea, and for one of three nations- Britain, France or Germany.
There is only one 'server'/one persistent world, the war runs 24/7 with only one outcome- total conquest of Europe.
Campaigns usually run for 45 days or so, although they have been as short as 3 days and as long as 100 day plus campaigns.

No, Americans are not in the game, this game assumes France does not necessarily lose. But a lot of equipment is American as historically the French did not last long enough to have produced their own advanced weapons.

Number one, we didn't know about his death until a month or two afterwards. Families rarely consider gaming communities during grieving.
Number two, our relationship with Sdshill was ingame, so that is a natural place to commemorate him. It's like going to a bowling alley or a softball field to commemorate someone who played in those games.
Number three, it is the place all of us, both the regular players and the forum folks, could come together readily.

The game is Battleground Europe, you can google and find it quickly. It is a MMORPG in which you can fight in WWII equipment in land, air and sea, and for one of three nations- Britain, France or Germany.
There is only one 'server'/one persistent world, the war runs 24/7 with only one outcome- total conquest of Europe.
Campaigns usually run for 45 days or so, although they have been as short as 3 days and as long as 100 day plus campaigns.
