  • this. is insane.

  • Mad skills.

  • I've gotta favourite this. . . I seriously cannot believe it.

    It's just beautiful

  • James Baxter had a lot of practice doing animation with perspective and camera moves when he worked on Roger Rabbit. No one had this kind of technical challenge figured out better than Richard Williams. But man, Baxter's skill level shot up ten-fold for this movie, and it really shows.

  • EFFing amazing! this guy...wow, just wow. Im pretty jealous of his skill

  • i know him! :D he's amazing at animating ^_^

  • James Baxter is not a mortal, he is a god. Thank you :P

  • James Baxter is a member of my family!!! :D

  • @Gab2671 Don't forget Glen Keane (my all time favourite animator) who animated the Beast.

Do you know who animated Shere Khan? :/

  • @nddlj Milt Kahl

  • If anybody else did that, it would most likely look retarded

  • Beautiful.

  • how come they don't make animation where they dance bachata?

  • a chip in his head? no mere mortal........... HES A ROBOT!!!! of course it all makes sense now walt disney didnt want some newbie doing his movies so disneys crones took his brain and put it in james baxters robot body!

  • That shot is rediculous!

  • "Mere mortal" :D! This is exactly why 2D animation will forever amaze me. <3

  • OMG I KNOW THAT GUY, IN REAL LIFE :O

  • When I grow up I'm going to be just like him :D

  • I suggest this James Baxter is no human but some sort of higher life form animator. Humans cant do that!

  • James Baxter's drawing beats out 3-D movies!!

  • When I watch this I wanna hump my computer...HE IS SOOOOO GOOD!!

  • I had to wacth this, run it back and rewath it. Thats insane skill.

  • mere mortal

RUBBISH! He's a GOD!!! i do animation myself, and u need SERIOUS unhuman skill to do that,

  • james baxter is amazing! i wish he still worked with Disney!

  • Disney fired all of their 2D animators because Disney are all 3D cunt-eaters.

  • not true. the princess and the frog exists. some were let go but others merged with the 3D department

  • @MidoriValentine You're wrong. Many, many 2D animators have since been retrained to work as 3D animators. The skills are not all that different.

  • i completely love the fact that someone can draw every single movement of something and do it so gracefully.

james baxter is really talented. :] and beauty and the beast is the best disney movie in my opinion. <3

  • haha "a mere mortal." James Baxter is made of awesome in this scene. It looks almost impossible to be able to create such camera motion like this! At least, when you're so used to seeing things at eye level and down to the ground. Props to him!

  • @HoshiHikari I totally agree thats freaking insane how he was able to do that by hand.

    he's amazing.

  • Great Work!

  • I am very glad I got to see this. I heard Beauty and the Beast was the first Disney movie that made that type of background you'll see on the final of the Ballroom scene. Completely timeless.

  • Basil the great mouse detectives uses CG environments, I head beauty and the beast was first too though

  • CG was used to create some 3 dimensional objects, like the giant clock, but was rotoscoped on paper still instead of direct CG in The great mouse detective.
