Walter Murphy and the Big Apple Band did "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman" in the 70s. I had the 45. And he also did "A Fifth of Beethoven," and "I Love Lucy." This made me remember all that in one fell swoop.
Hey Starchild1980 This song was on the legendary disco label West End Records and mixed by the legendary Tom Moulton, but it was the music of Vince Montana and the Salsoul Orchestra. Listen closely.
This song was released by a band called SOUNDS OF INNER CITY featuring DICK LEE....It was released on the legendary disco label WEST END RECORDS in circa 1976....There is a 12" available with this version and the long instrumental version...It's wicked!! DISCO FOREVER!!!
Ah, but you have not lived until you've seen the "Mary Hartski" parody by Big Chuck & Li'l John!

Mary Hartman Mary Hartman was so edgy and wild back in its day - it had a cult following, not everyone "got it" but it was hilarious.

It was a classic from the 70's. Unfortunally she died in 1987. Kind of a suicide. Poor thing, mary was fun.
