  • imagine if he has dandruff u can see it fly out of his hair haha jokes

  • Amazing!Absolutely amazing!An 15-year-old playing this piece?

  • all i know is its nice to see this guy playing chopin.. i hate seeing asians playing chopin.. i dont buy thier passion at all

  • the best interpretation, in my opinion. love the slower tempo.

  • he plays it as if wrote it! Beautiful articulation!

  • How was old when played he this?

  • 15 people can't appreciate his afro

  • Genial, muchas gracias por publicarlo.

  • Beethoven called. He wants his hair back.

  • Please !!! Every one but not Kissin. He plays very good but not CHOPIN !!!! And It's to slow. I think he was too young for that polonaise. He wasn't understand it

  • terrible tempo !! What an insult to the polonaise genre and this piece in particular

  • @1Thompsonmusic Hahahaha. 100% incorrect.

  • @debrucey

Trust me, I'm right. No one really like this pianist. They just watch him for speed. But he's cold. He can't play Chopin (real music, unlike Liszt). He never moves me or makes me cry or anything. If you can't do that, you may as well give up.

  • @1Thompsonmusic I disagree wholeheartedly about both Liszt and Kissin.

  • @1Thompsonmusic Can you play it better? Can you "move" anyone?I find it moving...how odd.

  • @1Thompsonmusic I've heard a lot of people say the same about kissin. I think he plays very well but he's just not my favorite for chopin and I think this piece should be faster :/

  • @1Thompsonmusic your comment really made me chuckle. this may not be kissin's best performance of this polonaise, but he is definitely more than another "empty virtuous freak." in any case, i checked out your performance of Chopin's A major prelude, and that should really be the definition of nothing. there's no phrasing, no passion, no feeling, nothing. seriously, in that video you play worse than a five-year old child. so before you mock kissin, please get your head screwed on properly.

  • @1Thompsonmusic you are just stupid!!! Kissin is a genius. and your recordings are awfull...

  • @1Thompsonmusic waaah youìre wrong.

  • the only the best KISSIN

  • That was amazing!!! Great playing!

  • Awesome technique!!!! He plays almos like an andult

  • The hair is a metaphor.

  • @garfreed no, it's just full of secrets

  • @garfreed Yeah..it's nature's way of telling him that he needs a haircut...

  • What I think is genius about composers is that they can make this breathtaking music in the tiny scope of 10 fingers. It's remarkable that they can make this music while still keeping in mind ones hands.

  • it would be so awesome being a prodigy

  • bravo bravo!

  • @uoiyoel I absolutely disagree with your last statement. Listen to Horowitz's recording of the E minor nocturne from his 25th Anniversary concert and you will realise how wrong you are.

  • his hairdresser is cool. vidal sasoon?

  • When I find an Evgeny Kissin video on YouTube, it doesn't matter when the video was recorded... whether he was 15 or 38 I know it's going to be spectacular.

  • im 2 years old and i can play this

  • I think this is a slower, majestic version - played by a genious before he has reached his peaked maturity. I am sure one will find different versions by Kissin which are just as good, if not better. Re: the hair comment, I saw him in New York (Lincoln Center) a number of years ago and could not get over the wild hair which moved the audience as he moved so passionately. I think it is very cute. Though he has shorter hair now :)

  • Pogorelich while meditative, KISSIN while high!

  • I think when this was recorded on video he was so young to play this piece... but there is a live Carnegie Hall recording of it on one of his Chopin CDs when he was a bit older and he plays it much better and more passionately. Still, for his age here, this is an impressive recording.

  • how old was he?

  • this is my favorite

  • He totally raped it! check rubinstein's at Moscow to see how it should be played

  • @eduardomzilli hahahahahahahahahahaha! I agree.

  • I completely agree, Pogorelich's is the best i have seen!!! and by far surpassing all... Kissin is really not in the tempo... way too slow

  • watch ivo pogerelich's version. its the best i have seen

  • a little lack of force, i've seen evgeny playing scriabin.... maybe should transfer some of the strenght to here....

  • omg i love his dynamics!!

  • I would say I like when pogorelich plays it, but Kissin is very good for his age

  • OMG his hair lmaooo, but Verrrrrrrrrrrrrry good playing :D

  • i knew i'd heard this somewhere before. i just COULDNT remember what it was!!! im so glad i found it!

  • This great; I find though that he plays octaves with his wrist really high;personal opinion I guess. thanks

  • how old was he when he played this?

  • 15 years old

  • @suremate omg

  • @zelihic So he had been playing for 11 years. Don't get intimidated.

  • @1Lisztener1 ,, you wish

  • @zelihic What? Play for 11 years you could get this far.

  • @1Lisztener1 , Hey, shut the fuck up, i got nothing to discuss with you, alrgiht.

  • hell yeah kissin playes it best

  • pogorelich plays it best, but i don't say that kissin is bad, he is one of the best, and I love his work, but for this piece, pogorelich is the best, listen to him, you're gonna love it... :D

  • damn i love this video and this song and chopin and evgeny. i am learning this song right know. when i have learned it perfect i will post it on youtube

  • @callenishss What's wrong about that? It doesn't seem to be causing him any problems...

  • take a course in classical mechanics, u`ll see

but for now just leave it

hey check out my nocturnes, i played a whole bunch

  • @callenishss But Kissin is world famous. It's his technique. Horowitz played with his fingers flat not curved... Just because he's not following a classical mechanics course doesn't mean his technique is wrong or bad

  • kissin`s technique is still within the frame of proper technique for pianoforte with the current weighted action pianos. extra lifting is not a sin

a sin would be to keep the hand level and press with individual fingers. the efficiency then drops way down.

so what he`s doing is still using the weight of arm, which is the universal ``proper`` way of modern pianoforte technique pioneered by chopin

  • That was meant for nipxu.

  • pogorelic plays this much faster but i think kissin plays it better (and best)

  • its hard for him, his arms are not that heavy yet

  • too planned out ands mysterious

    pogerelich school lol

  • i think that evgeny play this song best. my opinion

  • simply fantastic!

  • unless yall can play it dont comment it.

  • it's his style, not chopin's style.

  • Great piece !!! For all those negative comments- People, don't be so jealous...

  • Besides how many slips did rubinstein do in his career ? can't count them anymore.........even when he was at the top of his art, so Kissin deserves a big appolause for this performance, as many said he's ONLY 15 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • You believe his technique is wrong? Can you explain what´s wrong with it? I can´t tell.

  • I´m just saying, if you don´t like it, don´t listen to it! After all, a bit less critisizing would make this whole classical music scene so much more enjoyable.

  • Fair enough i see where your coming from, and i haven't listened to it again since i first heard it. and your right people do need to just enjoy music instead of finding faults in it. : )

  • One thing to add: Horowitz is nearly the last person i would take as a good technique example, he did so many things only to be not the "normal" pianist but the sound suffered .

  • in my opinion sound only suffers when its always played, produced and heard the exact same. thats why we have what you call 'not the "normal" pianist'. the world needs people like horowitz.

  • "it needs the sense of hesitation and flow at the same time"

"Like i said kissin is an incredible pianist

but he should have thought twice about this particular piece."

You should squirm back to your little wormhole and I hope it starts to rain so you would drown.

  • It beautiful :)Ive just started to learn polonaise A major op. 40 and I found this one in my score book :) I would say that this polonaise is easier than op. 53 but this kind of asses is very subjective.

  • This Polonaise by Chopin is very seldom played, as it's very difficult and very long, Kissin is one of the geniuses of the present pianistic generation.

  • How old was he when he was playing this?

  • he was 15

  • fantastic!

  • horowitz played it way better, it needs the sense of hesitation and flow at the same time, i admire kissin greatly but this is not his best performance.

  • i think i agree

kissin is a magnificent pianist, but his other recitals seem to have more flow.

or maybe its just the music...?

  • maybe...but theres been a lot of interpretations of this piece and most are different to the other. Its definatly one of chopins harder pieces but unless people can play it right it's immortal beauty should not be be ripped apart by amateuers who give the piece the wrong feeling. like i said kissin is an incredible pianist but he should have thought twice about this particular piece.

  • Keep in mind, he's only 15 here and I'm not sure how old Horowitz was when he played this...but I'm PRETTY sure it wasn't at 15...probably later on in his life. So, obviously he would have had more experience. I'm not saying that your opinion is wrong..I'm just saying that you should consider that Kissin is still quite young here :)

  • You point is valid and its good to hear your opinion, i still think that if your going to play a piece try your best to get it right because theres a lot of harsh critics out there who are waiting to hear a wrong note so they can have a field day about on the news or what-have-you. Ups to kissin for the performance all the same though he just should have taken more time with it thats all. : )

  • Oh my god, who do you think you are to be able to say that?

  • (to Libertein818)

  • I'm entitled to an opinion aren't i? what did i say?

  • Who are you to say whether this genious was ready to play this piece or not? He has devoted his life to piano playing and this is a very good performance (he is only 15!). If there are a few slips, so what? This is art, you should go watch sports or something! IDIOT. Sorry.

  • It's not slips, that doesn't matter, the style and technique of how he plays it is what im disagreeing with, theres no need to get angry i merely said that if i was to play it i would play it differently. It's a harmless comment /opinion. thats what this page is for. If you want to yell at people and insult them take your hate elsewhere.

  • Kissin's performance of this polonaise, much like his interpretations on other of chopin's work, is unorthodox. The accentuations, in my opinion, don't bring liveliness to the tempo, which defeat the idea of a polonaise. Instant disqualification for any serious piano competition. But, I still enjoy listening to his performances.

    and.

Just because a pianist is 15 doesn't except him to criticism. That is simply a naive thing to say.

  • Hear Hear ! finally someone who agrees with me on this page.

  • What´s wrong with you, it´s his interpretation, and obviously a good and personal one! Don´t you like to listen to _different versions_ by different artists? I certainly do. "Let´s all play the same pieces of 4 or 5 composers the same way century after century", no wonder that classical music dies and popular idiotic shit will take over. Bravo to you, let´s kill everything creative!!! Let me do the same: (to be continued)...

  • (...) Libertein818,

your "compositions" are just absolutely horrible and your playing

technique is even worse, you are the last person to judge this level of musicians. THERE YOU GO. Hooray music!!! Let´s all be bitter and jealous, die human kind. My last post for this. I guess it is thumbs down

    for me, who cares. Bye.

  • go dreamin !!!!

  • @pianoman9018 lol virtuoistic ability and skill... For what? Murdering the piece. I must agree with them there

  • He is very young here, looks like 16 or17! This recording dates from what year?

  • maybe even younger! i was thinking more 15...

    incroyable

  • its like the incredible hulk is in is forearms.

  • Way tooooooo heavy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • very heavy PAfcio0 i totaly agree with you you anderstand chopin xxxkx93xxx you dont right

  • maybe a bit.. however i find it the best on utube.. very nice!!

  • It is sooooo heavy...
