You guys complaining about the fret access really need to shut up, how often is the average bassist gonna be palying up that high? And its only kinda hard to fret the notes on the E string, A, D and G are fine., Unless you have girl hands...

Neck dive while sitting down shouldnt happen because your arm is resting on the body... no argument. And if you use a quality strap... you will have no neck dive, period.

Of course you need that fingerboard access. Many styles of music sound great up there.

Your arm should rest enough on the body to hold it up, if you bother to use proper technique.

Agreed on the fret access, it really isn't a problem, but the neckdive is. Mine was pretty much impossible to play standing up, whatever the strap, so I had the button moved to behind the neck - worked like a charm.

Where can I get a genuine Gibson T-Bird?, The one,s I see in music stores are Korean Epiphones, They don,t sound half as good as the real thing!

I'm with Lummond here. And I'm not saying this with no previous experience with Thunderbirds either, I played one a couple of weeks ago in my local music shop and I had serious trouble reaching much past the 15th fret because there's a big lump of mahogany in the way, I was also constantly battling a lot neck dive on and off the strap.

Very descriptive. A big shame that you guys totally glossed over 2 of the T-Bird's biggest flaws - the laughable fret access and the horrible neck dive. Many people say "just move the strap button", but drilling a new hole in a $1700 bass so it balances like any other bass would is pretty unbelievable.

gibson's have the bolt on the back already so they dont dive. i myself own an epiphone t-bird and dont even need to drill, the neck bolt works just fine as a shoulder strap. and the frets are only hard to reach if you hang it ass low

i got a new strap recently and its a reg 2 and ive had no problems, i think its was just because my old strap was old.

the thunderbird is actually a really good bass, but its price tag is a little tooo steep.

also its a little heavy and you need a 3" strap because of the placing of the strap holders.

it has bad reach, so its mostly a heavier bass. and only 20 frets.

other than that its reliable and sounds great if you dont wear it way to much. the classic white is hard to keep clean.

and its actually not a bad slap/pop bass.

just move the strap button over to the back and you're good, i use a 1 or so inch nylon strap and have ZERO problems cuz of it :) cheerio

no just treat it nice. replace the strings often and dont thrash it.

hell you can if you want, but im not going to guarantee it will sound good after.

ive had mine about a year and it still sounds just as good as when i got it if not better.

I've got a T-Bird and used mine through a Trace. Thing is with a Trace, you can dial in more or less any tone you want. Most people who knock T-Birds have never played one before and are just echoing what other people have been saying. They are great rock basses.

the only reason i'll never buy a thunderbird (unless i become incredibly rich) is because it's quite hard to reach the higher frets.. and there's only 20 of them!
