  • herman munster rules!!

  • I love this show, them and the Addam's family kind of inspired me as a child!

  • I wish time stood still.

  • And sadly, Butch Patrick is the only one left. -_-

  • @menslady125 No, both Marilyn Munster actresses are still alive. :)

  • @sneakiebug10:

They are? Well, that's good to hear.

  • The best series ever on television!

  • I thought Pat Priest played Marilyn? How many different actresses played her? I remember they cast someone else for the movie "Munster Go Home".

  • I like this show better than the Addams family and I like Bewitched better than I Dream of Jeannie. As a kid I thought all 4 were funny, but as I grew older I realized The Munsters and Bewitched obviously had better writers and much better rememberable episodes without all the extra slap stick and stubbling around for laughs found in IDOJ & the Addams Family. But I still enjoy watching all of them and wish TV Land would air the 60/70's shows more often.

  • @Tiny1bme Not sure if their writers were "better" but they were aiming for different audiences I suppose. The Munsters also had Universal behind them cause that is who owned all the famous movie monsters like Dracula and Frankenstein so this show had the actual backlots to film on and the actual makeup people who made the original films.

  • Always loved the little organ riff in the background! It makes the theme! I love it more than the one that didn't have it. :)

  • What do u mean she doesnt mind?

  • @trdidion She's a Munster! They don't die!

  • best programme on tv

  • My dad loves this show

  • Drop the s from munsters and you get Munters... that's where the word often used to describe ugly people came from

  • Umm peaceloveolivea...hi there.Sorry but The Munsters came out 1st so theres no way they copied the Addams Family.By the way,the year in the title above should say 1963 because thats when the Munsters debuted :)

  • @iluvrachellef they debuted september 25 1964

  • bellos,aaaaaaa

  • I bet it was a bitch getting in and out of make-up.

  • @wlangley88 yeah, like planet of the apes.

  • Yvonne decarlo sexy and elegant

  • @alzirapn ...and edible. Yum.

  • aaaaaa que submarino ese german monsters, aaaaaaa gago

  • The Munsters are than the Addams Family

  • The remake coming out on TV soon better be outstanding. The original was awesome!

  • So Marilyn is what, a half vampire, like Alucard?

  • @mikeysaur65 Naw the joke was that she was the only normal human in the family, and when boys would come over and meet her family, they'd be scared off...and she'd always blame it on herself being so ugly!

  • ...turning every Thursday night into Halloween.

Man how I miss this show!

  • both the female stars9Yvonne and Beverley ) are real women...curves and great eyes!

  • this show was way to far ahead of its time

  • Man i used to love this show as a kid but salavy

  • Any of you is watching this at 6am because you ran out of ideas of what to search?

  • Fred Gwynne was so friggin' awesome.

  • I dont get the whole culture of fanboys nowadays :( (or even back then) im a HUGE video game fanatic. Its the common thing nowadays to take a side (e.g ps3) and then slag off other consoles. Like i say im a game fan. I dont care what console its on..if its good ill play it lol It seems the same with some TV shows like this one. People will slagg off addams family or the munsters or compare them..... Why can't people just enjoy both for what they are!

  • I still think that The Munsters and The Addams Family should have merged into one good-ass show!

  • I like it very much

  • I always prefer this serie at the Addams family!!!!!!!!the Munsters forever...

  • Comment removed

  • MUNSTERS ROCK !!

  • The defining difference between the Munsters and the Addams Family is that the Munsters are ordinary people who look like monsters; the Addams Family are monsters who look like ordinary people.

  • @Takeshi357 WRONG! The Munsters are equally monsterous. How do you explain Herman and Lily having their 100th wedding anniversary in an episode? What normal couple marries for 100 years? I don't think ANY couple does. How do you explain Lily's description of a tossed salad involving a whole tin can of peaches? Who the heck would eat a fish ALIVE, as i saw in one episode?

  • @purseonal2010 Insignificant little details...

  • Actually the filming of Addams family began in 1962 whereas the munsters filming began in 1963 so when the munsters first appeared Addams family was beginning its second season.

  • And I have the say. The Addams family is better because I've never seen the munster and its only fair that way

  • It doesn't matter if the minsters came first, I've never seen the munsters but it seems like a funny show, but I have to say the Addams family tops the munsters because the Addams family went on for a while and the munsters didn't p

  • The 4 dislikes are from Gomez, Morticia, Fester and Wednesday

  • @MickyMr95 It's up to 5 now so im assuming it's either "cousin it" or "thing".

  • @MickyMr95 the next two are from Grandmama and Lurch! :D

  • @MickyMr95 I like this show, but I like the Addams Family WAY more. I really don't know why either, they are a lot alike.

  • @MickyMr95 Also, Itt, Lurch and Pugsley

  • @MickyMr95 Now Grandmama, Pugsly, and Cousin It have disliked.

  • When this show debuted in '64 I was in abject heaven!

TO THIS DAY, this is my absolute, all-time favorite show!!

Sweet God, let me go back.

I have seen the future, and it ain’t worth 6-cents a ton.

  • Yvonne DeCarlo was a beautiful & talented actress. She had eyes that rivaled Liz Taylor. A graceful stage dancer was her ticket to Hollywood.

  • I LOVE THE MUNSTERS!<3

  • @DominusLuna: Actually the Addams Family was around, though not as a TV show, long before the Munsters. And to counter your argument, I think BOTH shows are equally good.

  • @NoreasterProductions me too! I love both shows. Wish they would have merged, just for one tv movie. Like they're long lost cousins or something. Lurch and Herman are both Frankensteinian in appearance. Lily and Morticia are sort of similiar. Uncle Fester and Grandpa could make one great team, too!

  • "Eddie?" Did you remember to wash behind your points?"

  • Adam's Family not near as good as the Musters. And I will bet that the Munsters came FIRST and the Adam's Family copied them.

  • @DominusLuna they came around the same time, alot of shows were similar like Brady Bunch/Partridge Family

  • Love The Munsters!!

  • omg! it's moses' wife!

  • THE ADDAMS FAMILY!!!! The Munsters are a mockery! They are just goons who look like monsters, and they lack character, unlike the Addamses. ADDAMS ALL THE WAY!

  • THE ADDAMS FAMILY IS WAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYY BETTER!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @1967mansfield I completely agree. i despise The Munsters in every way possible.

  • the musters also used to come on kbhk t.v 44 san francisco, california.

  • LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!! I am so retro nostalgic lol

  • RIP Yvonne decarlo

  • @trdidion She was hot for a dead ghoul. lol

  • @trdidion What a beauty, ...why do people always have to compare Addams Fam. to Munsts...saying this one or that one's better, etc.,..can't they just be 2 different shows???

  • @trdidion She is my aunt.

  • @ijustwanteda2 who is your Aunt?

  • @trdidion She doesn't mind!

  • i wish they would still air this at nick at night.. the only reason i sort of liked it

  • They're remaking this :(

  • @1990SuperGeek ur kidding wright?

  • @pennyferret77 Unfortunately no

  • @1990SuperGeek WHERE?? WHY?!?!?!?

  • @pennyferret77 NBC has ordered a pilot for a remake, because they're stupid.

  • @sharkbaitj WHERE CAN I GET IT?!! :D

  • my ring tone

  • i love this show. for some reason herman munster always reminded me of my uncle joe lol

  • @animewarrior08 reminds me of my dad :p

  • they made themes to tv series's so much better years ago , i love this

  • This is must have been played on a six string Danelectro baritone guitar.

  • I wish they would start airing this again. I loved this show when I was a kid.

  • Man I LOVE this show!!

  • They played the old shows up until the 90s... what happened?

  • @Jsd8675 They started making all these different channels for specific types of programming. The old-school tv shows, like the Munsters, Sanford and Son, Dragnet, All in the Family, etc are on such channels as TV Land and ME TV

  • Yvonne DeCarlo got top billing because she was the biggest star of the time. She had several movie roles in the '50s, including Sephora, Moses' wife, in "The Ten Commandments".

  • always loved lily . had a crush on her still do im 54 yvonne decarlo va va voom . what a beautiful woman . ill always be amunsters fan till im to old to care . any one else a munster s fan. from polywog690 indiana , pa. jim stewarts hometown

  • lilly was really sexy

  • I LOVE Yvonne's SULTRY SEXY look in the very beginning!! Very HOT looking morbid queen LOL even in black and white!! And DAMN what a great funny show it was as well!!

  • :)))))))))))))

  • Grandpa is Lily's father on the show, but in real life, Yvonne De Carlo is acutally older than Al Lewis.

  • Is it weird that i watch this on boomerang and im 17?

  • nightmare night..

  • I love this show!!!! LoL

  • the mom was hot "

  • did you know the man you plays herman is really that tall? no special effects!

  • @epicmaddie - not quite accurate; while the actor, Fred Gwynne, was tall, the soles of his boots were made extra thick so he could appear even taller.

  • And without the makeup and much older Fred Gwynne (Herman Munster) was the Judge in My Cousin Vinny!

  • @Kelski1998 He also played the old man across the road in Pet Semetary. AND!!!! Get this...In a show that aired in the next half hour slot after the Munsters, 'Herman' and 'Grandpa' both starred together in a show called "Car 54, Where are You?" I was just a naive kid at the time, I couldn't believe how they could change their costumes and get into a cop car, and a different town, so quickly!!!!

  • @TheBrendadale

I've seen a few episodes of Car 54 Where Are You? I remember hearing the unmistakeable voice of Ooh Ooh Joe E Ross. Was Al Lewis a cop on the show?

  • @Kelski1998 It's been probably 40 years since I saw the show, and I don't know who Ooh Ooh Joe E Ross is, but Al Lewis was the older of the Car 54 duo. I should see if any of the episodes are on YouTube. You check it out, too, and let's compare notes

  • @Kelski1998 My mistake, it wasn't Al Lewis on the show. It was Joe E Ross. Well, that kinda crumbles my ages old 'apparent' memories!!! Kinda sucks getting old!!!!

  • @TheBrendadale Actually, you were right. Al Lewis WAS on the show, along with Nipsey Russel

  • @Kelski1998 Al Lewis played 'Schnauzer' on Car 54.

  • One of my all time favorite classic tv shows. I love it.

  • From a time when TV didn't take itself seriously. In other words, when TV was fun and the entire family could watch. Love the Munster Coach and Drag-u-la! George Barris was (and remains) a custom car genius!

  • There's absolutely no dislike bar!

  • The Munsters kick ass!

  • I was born in the 70's and i still watch this

  • ok this show strangely reminds me of the Addam's Family.... i don't know why. :/

  • Best T.v show of ALL time :D

  • Ive got season 1 on hd:D

  • This wakes me up every morning...Why tv isnt like this anymore is beyond me ;)

  • i grew up watching the reruns as a kid in the 70s. still love to watch it now . the person who did the make up effects for the show was pretty damm good. always love the theme song and there house.

  • luv this jimmy page song !!!!!

  • ah, theres another version of this song... i like them both... :D

  • Thumbs up if you still watch reruns of this show in 2011

  • @totallyfrozen If I had cable & could, I would! I'm going on a quest to find them online though!

  • This show's airing on Boomerang right now.

  • I use to watch this show never missed it!

  • i love this theme song and the background of the munsters 2011

  • i love this theme song and the background of the munsters 2011

  • Just added this video 2 my PLAYLIST of American TV Programme Intro's :)

  • Ohhhh the good stuff!!!

  • you da man Eddie!!!

  • Hell I'm 18 and this is WAAAAY before my time, but me and my dad watches it all the time :D

  • THE MUNSTERS R ON BOOMARANG EVERYNIGHT @ 7:00 FOLLOWED BY THE ADDAMS FAMILY (IM WATCHING IT RIGHT NOW!!)

  • @bmcg678 also @ 2:00 Eastern time!

  • @scoobydoorocks10 really! wow thats awesome!!!!

  • I read somewhere that Universal actually gave the producers of The Munsters access to the classic Frankenstein makeup of Jack Pierce, which is how they were able to do such a good job of turning Fred Gwynne into Herman Munster.

  • This show was so BOSS when I was a child, still is. Monsters and dragsters, YEAH!

  • Esta serie me gustaba mucho, como la extraño!.

  • Embedding disabled is lame shit.

  • In an age of endless, sleazy, crappy "reality" shows- shows like these were true gems.

  • @rickw1100 Yeah, I forgot there is nothing but reality shows on tv, such as the news, cartoons, cooking shows, miniseries, documentaries, and other interesting things.

you fail. go be a pseudo-nostalgic whiner somewhere else, and everyone else like you, so you all will stop ruining these videos for everyone else -_-

  • @LiloPelakai - Oh boo hoo- "someone doesn't like my American Idol and Jersey Shore" "I'm gonna storm up to my room.. and watch my cartoons and Dr. Phil, until that bad man apologizes for ruining my youtube experience."- boo hoo !! boo hoo !! boo hoo!!- lol!!

  • @rickw1100 OHHH my gosh, we're of the same mind! TV today is just an endless morass of crap! Obviously no talent out there anymore. Thank God for PBS and TVO and other such channels that give us documentaries and educational programmes. AND Turner Classic Movies that give us all the older movies that were well thought out and well directed.

  • @rickw1100 yup, and they are also a break from the countless overblown crime shows too, bleh

  • @rickw1100 There was actually talent back in the day, when it came to writing and producing serial shows. I totally agree that there is far too much sleazy crap slung at us as viewers nowadays. It's almost embarassing to pay my monthly cable bill, I'm endorsing all this crap by subscribing to what my cable provider prefers to offer.

  • Addams Family vs Munsters...it's like SNL vs Mad TV, both are great and worth watching.

  • I had a thing for Lily when I was a kid. 0o

  • This was my favourite comedy series as a kid. The later attempt to revive it was nowhere near as good. iTunes has all of the episodes available for download, but for some reason not as a set.

  • jajaja this tv serie is great ... ^^ Yvonne De Carlo is very beautiful

  • I MISS THE MUNSTERS AND THE ADAMS FAMILY!!! I GREW UP ON THESE SHOWS!!! I remember saturday morning my parents and I would sit around the tv and watch episode after episode of the Munsters and the Adams Family... classic Gothic type shows.... now that I think about it... these shows influenced me more than i thought!

  • Used to love this as a kid.

  • Well i like Th Musters & like The Adams Family but which is better there's only one way to find out FIIIIIIIGHHHHHT!

  • @gallafey: Or cross them over. Have Wednesady & Eddie hit it off, have Marylin fall for one of the available Addams' bachelors, & pair off Grandmama Frump-Addams with Grandpa Munster. It'd be a hoot!

  • wow!I love this tv series

  • For years I remember having trouble telling this show from the Addams Family, besides the intro.. They're both awesome though.

  • Munsters vs. Addams Family. which one blatantly ripped off which?

  • @MischiefMeerkat I believe the Addams Family came first. It was a comic strip that (according to Wikipedia) started in 1938 by cartoonist Charles Addams. The television series started in 1964.

The Munsters appears to be a made-for-TV sitcom using iconic "monsters" from prior movies. Not strictly a "rip-off", back in the '60s, the three main networks vied for viewers based on a formulaic set-up. When one network began airing "Superman", another network countered with "Batman", and so on....

  • WTF is this! Freaky as fuck!

  • I loved that show
