Religion is a lie tailored for mass consumption. You accept it because you were taught not to question. Not to question authority, the church, or your priest. Your world is built on a complete lie. Millions swore the earth was flat, some men hung for saying otherwise, the same with religion.
It's always the same. About power and control.. nothing more.
@losghost Your comment is not bad. Many high men in churches used Religion over centuries for their own Power and added their own doctrines to the bible. Only one Catholic example `Paying money to get eternal life` you won`t find it in the bible. This money they needed to built big cathedrals. But only the bible is the truth and every added word to the bible is a doctrine of demons. Revelation 22,18: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book. .
Brilliant idea! I really thought this was a great idea, seeing how this is U2's idea of what Judas would say Jesus if he had the chance. Thanks for ding this
The lyrics describe a conversation between Jesus Christ and Judas Iscariot.[1] The first verse discusses The Last Supper; the second is about Judas identifying Jesus with a kiss on the lips in the Garden of Gethsemane; and the final is about Judas' suicide after being overwhelmed with guilt and sadness.
judas es mierda???? nononononono, no se confundan,,,,, para judas ,jesus es la mierda por q el supuestamente le mintio por q el no debia morir, judas no sabia q y va a resucitar pero esa es otra historia
"Until the End of the World" is the fourth track from U2's 1991 album, Achtung Baby.
Actually sister, but God Bless you too, and I'm sorry if I hurt you along the way with our conversation. The only thing important is that we are in the age of Grace, because of what Our Lord And Saviour did for us.
You're right it's not important. The only thing that's important is, because of Judas' betrayal, and our Lord and Saviour carrying away all our sins on the cross with Him, enables us to have a relationship with the Father. I now know that I'm going to Heaven and all Hell can't stop me. Enter the age of Grace.
I guess you don't know what an anology really is. Bono never actually quotes out of the Bible, but he does put spititulity in his music. If you can't see what this song is about, go back to school. In the Bible Christ also used anologies. Read His parables sometime, maybe then you will finally get it.
I beg to differ with you. Didn't Judas feel so guilty about what he'd done that he hanged himself? Listen to the one from Zoo TV tour. Bono yells out to Judas in the very begining, Then tell me it's not about the betrayal of Judas betraying Our Lord and Savior. And it had to happen, so we could recieve forgiveness of our sins. So we could enter the age of Grace.
I didn't say that. It is the story of Jesus and Judas. At the 2005 RnR hall of fame Bono said that they were going to play a little diddy about the convrsation between Judas and Jesus. It's a loosely told story, but it is the story all the same. Now why don't you go and find something else to do, because I'm not debating this anymore! God Bless You!
I would really like to see the original lyrics that were wrote by Bono. If you got the Deluxe version of the @0th ed. JT in the book it has the original words or Streets. a lo different than the song. After all it is rock n roll. It's not quoting the bible verbatim.
I probably know the Bible better than you seeing that I'm a born again christian, and do read the scriptures a lot. Like I said before Bono uses words that fit the song and a lot of the words are not biblicaly accurate, but the story is there all the same. He embliishes a lot, and uses a lot of anologies, but UTEOTW is about Judas betraying Jesus. Bono himself even mentioned it on one of his interveiws.
Give it up. Do you not know what anologies are? He deos emblish the Bible a little drink, but Judas did kiss Jesus, so they would know who to capture.
Christianity is as modern as U2 is , I believe while reading the bands history that a couple of the band members are professing christians themselves. Are you then implying that they are not Modern ? Or maybe you are offended in Jesus ?
For fuck sake, will all you self righteous bastards listen to the whole song, bass, drums, guitar, and just enjoy the fucking song, and less of your christian bullshit................thankyou!!
It's all anologies. You got to understand that Bono has to make the word fit with the music, and the other lyrics that went before. If he just quted out of the Bible what would it give the listener to think about.
U2 has stated that their band is not a Christian Band, didn't want that label, that's why there's lyrics put in that doesn't really tell the Bible story always accurate. It's all analogies. Get it!
Aother thought on the song UTEOTW, when he sang it at the 2005 RNR hall of fame, When he sang to the part I reached out to the one I tried to destroy Bono looks upward. I can olny think he's looking towards Heaven.
Bono uses a lot of anologies when he is talking about scripture, If you haven't figure that out by now you really don't know Bono at all. Just like With Or Without You is full of scriptual anologies. Listen very closely to the words with an open mind, and although it might not be scriptuallty accurate, and emblessed alitle there is no dobut UTEOTW is talking about Judas betraying Jesus. It also is rock and roll.
I see your point, I know that God is strong in pretty much all of their albums (for me it's actually Rattle & Hum, even though October was pointed out to be very hard-line)
I'm a massive U2 fan, but prefer Bono's "Coexist" idea, however deep and meaningful towards Christianity his songs are.
As Bono once said: "Religeon often gets in the way of God", and I think that is definitely the case.
I agree that religion gets in the way of God. It's possible to be a Christian and coexist with others. In fact, if someone can't coexist with others I'm not sure they would be following Jesus at all.
It is a story about Judas betraying Christ. If you listen to the lyrics closely there's no doubt what it's about. He kissed him on the cheek to identify Christ. He took the money, he spiked the drink. He turned to the one he try to destroy. Bono is big on the analogy thing when it comes to his sprituality, and if you don't believe what this songs about, don't you think U2 would have pulled the videos, that link it to The Passion Of The Christ.
We can spend all day looking at the differences. I challenge you to look at the similarities.
Consider this though, Bono introduced this song as they were being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005, "A little Pop diddy - a conversation between Jesus and Judas."
I accuse you of being a concrete thinker, and to disprove that you try (and obviously fail) to make concrete connections between the song and the bible story. No matter. The song works at more than one level -- take it as you will.
You're a very concrete thinker. The song was written so simple people like you would take a concrete meaning from it, and so it would have abstract implications to those capable of understanding it. Maybe you should listen to more Simple Plan, or Blink 182 -- they're the ones who sit around whining about girls..
For your education: Judas played two sides, that's the tart (slut) analogy. The "end of the world" analogy, you're gonna have to figure out. It starts at the last supper ("talking"), then upon betrayal ("acting"), then projecting to judgement day ("wait 'til the end of the world").
you're an idiot. bono has said this song is about the betrayal of jesus, and he has on occasion screamed "judas" before the beginning of the song. u2 isn't a christian band, they're a band telling one of the epic stories of our time.
Judas take a great part of Jesus Death.....Jesus asked Judas to sold him.....only in this form the prophecy can be......thanks to Jesus sayin´Judas this....
For those out there who consider themselves Christians, and are confused by the part that Judas had to play, read the first 5 books of the Bible. You see, Jesus (Joshua) was the paschal lamb. But it is common knowledge with the Jewish, that no lamb was sacrificed without the sending of the scapegoat. You see, we all know Christ is the Lamb, but did you know that Judas was the goat? He HAD TO GO TO THE DESERT to die. Judas carried our sins, Jesus washed them away from us. You see?
woah what a good idea to make this vid!! I think this is the best live version of that song. Adding parts from The Passion of Christ makes it awesome. That song is so meaningful for any Christian. U2 is the best... and that's not arguable
whether you are Christian or not, we have all dealt with the consequences of betrayal, be it at the hands of others, or more commonly, by our own mis-guided choices. This song is the most perfect artistic rendering of the soul tortured by betrayal. I, for one cannot listen to it without becoming absolutely wrecked. This is a beautiful bit of editing, too.
I respectfully disagree with you "Draco"-Cron...According to the visions of Venerable Anne Catherine Emmeriche(whose relics Gibson also personally owns),it was his inability to forgive himself for what he had done.. even though Christ had already forgiven him(Christ judges individuals by the same standards as they judge themselves)that hurt Christ the most...Judas did'nt know Christ would be tortured & killed...He just wanted to make a little money...
I was at this concert!!!!!!!!!!! Incredible. Everyone in the SLANE Crowd was amazed at Bono and Edge. They were at the top of their game!!!!!!! Amazing Song!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Lyrics of the Song itself when Bono composed it was originally about a conversation between Judas Iscariot, after CHRIST descends down into Hell, According to the Book of Nicodemus.Bono merely tries to put himself in Judas Iscariot's shoes, According to Bono, the purpose of the song is to ask ourselves as individuals how we would have acted, for better or worse, had we been there. Bono personally suspects it may have been worse for us, but he leaves it up to the fans to decide...
Judas is an integral part of OUR salvation through Christ. Had Christ not been betrayed, had Christ not been crucified there would be no Salvation. It is interesting how people hate Judas for what he did; however, it was necessary for our Salvation. Furthermore, it was not the betrayal of Judas that hung Christ on the cross, it was my sins and yours.
Awesome, brilliant. It's really incredible what Jesus and God did for us. Totally different when we imagine Christ's dead as when we see it. Good work =)
I appreciate your opinion. This isn't a tribute to either U2 or film The Passion of the Christ. It is an expression of my personal belief. The message of the film, and more importantly, the cross, is forgiveness. We don't know what went on in the heart of Judas in his last moments. I like to think we may be surprised at who we find in heaven one day.
Thanks, Bono...

I'm not offended at the least. Sorry if I came across that way.
I was just wondering of all religions, why that one is all. I'm guessing that you may be Irish?
I know a few people that became religious later in life, but never met anyone that gravitated to Catholicism.
Catholics tend to have a 90% OCD rate, they aren't sure if it's the religion that causes it or that those people are drawn to it. Hence my question.
If you're surrounded by Catholics then I can see why.

you're an idiot. bono has said this song is about the betrayal of jesus, and he has on occasion screamed "judas" before the beginning of the song. u2 isn't a christian band, they're a band telling one of the epic stories of our time.

This is a beautiful bit of editing, too.

poor judas.....I really hope God had forgiven him

No need. If the events of the Bible actually happened, Judas was a vital part of the whole thing. I don't think God minded very much.

Furthermore, it was not the betrayal of Judas that hung Christ on the cross, it was my sins and yours.

well done aburiff, you know the meaning behind the song.

Awesome, brilliant. It's really incredible what Jesus and God did for us. Totally different when we imagine Christ's dead as when we see it. Good work =)

I'm sorry but probably one of the worst tributes I've ever seen! No offense but this is just completely off with the films true message.
SuperSnakeEater 5 years ago
I appreciate your opinion. This isn't a tribute to either U2 or film The Passion of the Christ. It is an expression of my personal belief. The message of the film, and more importantly, the cross, is forgiveness. We don't know what went on in the heart of Judas in his last moments. I like to think we may be surprised at who we find in heaven one day.
