i think if i remember correctly that you do not have to do al the horrific acts to save shaun but to get al clues and earn a trophy you have to get al . (SPOILERS)

I mist one were you have to get through some electric fences and crawl through glas . .cutting ethans arms very badly .. but still i was able to save my son. . i played it once but now i feel like playing it again. .  someone told me that shaun can die at the end . . and that ending is very very sad . . .there is not one ending.

Yeah you're right you don't need them all, but it's probably best to get most of them. I got all of them except the one where the killer wants you to murder a guy. I went in to do it but hesitated too much, when I finally pulled the gun the guy was onto me and he ended up chasing me around his apartment with a shotgun, almost killed me it was scary. Then when he was just about to finish me off he felt pity and let me leave thinking I was just a junky. o_O
