On mine. I put the fulcrum point in the top slanted board, not the horizontal one you sit on.
I drilled a hole in from the side (made the hole in the "pedal thing" a bit larger diameter) then hammered a large 6" or 8" galvanized nail through. You can see the head of the nail at the 0:58 mark.

you can use o metal rod and make several holes, so that you can hold pieces of varied thickness-- who else has designs? please post )

This one has it in the top board. I pre-drilled holes and used an "8" galvanized nail, (washers for spacers.)
