  • @dimega98 Well, just like most custom maps for the game unless you got real solid support its gonna be hard for your map to be played on many servers. I haven't updated the map in a few months so maybe that's the reason why it's hard to find in server rotations. So be patient I will soon be releasing a new version of the map. This should generate interest in the map. Stay tuned.

    One thing I realized after releasing a few versions of the map is that the DC edition definitely is for hardcore TF2 gamers. (not saying you're not, I don't know)

    That said, let me add a few things:

    - You can sap a super sentry, only engies, pyros... can make it work again.

    - You must build normal sentries out of sight of a super sentry.

    - The map relies heavily on both teams being balanced.

    - Stage 2 is not impossible, it just relies on the above to work.

  • @M00NQUAKE Sapping super sentries I know about, however with how easily they're removed they need to have more downsides. Mobile super sentries are a problem because most sentries are positioned to block the cart, so when it gets moved in that gets all screwed up. Stage 2 I have never won even with a massive team stack on blue. The red team just spams the homewrecker and has an engineer on the cart always.

  • This map does have some major balance issues. Mainly super sentries are almost a guaranteed win. Stage 2 is basically impossible. Stage 1 is basically impossible unless you get the super sentry. The problem I see is that on stage 1 there's no secondary spawn for BLU, that needs to be addressed. On stage 2, lose the super sentry cart. It's already pretty broken as it is no need to use it more than once. Main problem with the super sentry is that they're too good against regular sentries.

  • @YeWelshTabby once you press the download button, the page allows you to choose between a few mirrors for download. Just scroll down a bit and you'll see them.

  • You won't believe how much I want to play this. Too bad my computer can't handle TF2.

  • I see problem, the Scouts ShortStop can be a real pain when defending... It takes out a heavy in four, maximum five shots when heavy has no medic... that firepowers' a problem.

  • @TheFirstShadowTactic : I see what you mean. The ShortStop can be a pain sometimes. :) I can see it being more of a problem outside the ship, but inside, the tighter corridors make the other classes more dangerous for scouts which balances things out.

  • I love this map!  I will be running a server at Quakecon, and plan to stick this map on there. I will try and record a demo, as the server should be populated most of the time (think >2000 gamers, and usually ~5 TF2 servers).

  • Also to upgrade the super sentry it should be like 500 or 1,000 metal instead of 200

  • I could see this as a 1 player campaign map, with bots. Just my opinion because its a pretty big map.

  • id say the exterior looks abit too high tech. Id say make it so the ship looks like your every day commertial Freighter from the outside. also maybe replace the forcefield with a hatch disguised as a few large containers.

  • Looks interesting, but it also looks kind of convoluted.If I understood the info on the screen, the cart isn't the main objective and doesn't actually have to reach the end to win? If that is the case then why not make pushing the cart add time instead of a bunch of other side objectives? By getting rid of the misc objectives and making the cart objective #2 , you cut out a lot of extra stuff, and you almost force the team to push the cart (it is payload after all) so they can get more time.

    Try replacing pop-ups and messages with clearer in-world cues, such as signs, guides, and barriers that deploy when checkpoints are reached. That way, the player can read what they are supposed to be doing directly from the map instead of being relayed information that might be useless or misinterpreted.

    Giving TF2 maps clearly defined stories is generally a bad idea. If the player wants to know what the heck is really going on, let them find it out in the map's scenery.

  • Way too long with too many distractions from the cart, the star of the show.

    Destructible objectives remove any incentive for offensive classes and the spy to do their jobs. Replace them with capture points wherever possible and remove what can't be turned into a capture point.

    Far too much of the map is set inside with low ceilings, an inherent problem with the map being on a ship. Scouts and Soldiers will take a real beating once the cart starts rolling.

  • Very impressive map, Honestly I could see some of the elements of it seem overwhelming to some players. Hopefully that won't steer them clear from playing this spectacular map.

  • Very impressive work. Looks more advanced than cp_steel by far. The idea of destroying things to open paths is very different from any other gamemode, like others said, it's a UT style gamemode. The hugeness of the map plus many paths adds even bigger depth. The various icons and objects here is unique just to help with the different map objectives.

    Loving the deepness and complexity in this map. It's something TF2 could use. Though, if it's too much, the things here should be scaled down.

    1.) Perf. I expect many people's computers will die at the sight of this (epic) map.

    2.) People got lost on steel. What will happen to them on this map.

  • it is a great map. it is a nice setup. but honestly i do not think the majority of tf2 will play it nor understand it. Look at cp_steel it is barely played among servers and it is not even close to your complex map.

    but do not hassle to keep up the good work for a few players who will enjoy this for sure.

    I've already pushed it a lot, but there's so much a guy can do.

    People are also afraid of change. 3 different carts and objectives you must destroy seems to be too much for some.

    Sekh, I strongly recommend you try the Basic edition first. Get used to it, especially if you're not an expert gamer, then play the DC edition.

    The DC edition shown in this video, is for advanced TF2 players. having to deal with objectives to destroy AND enemies AND a cart to push that randomly changes each round is A LOT to handle for most people, that's why I made the basic edition.

  • My brother played on RedShip once and told me it was the best map ever. I can see by this video that he wasn't exaggerating

  • this map is good but it still needs anti grefer measures red can kill blu objectives (Mostly the core), more stages? 2nd stage is meh, and a damage multiplier for the core and first shield. 1 heavy can take them down in less then 30 seconds it should multiply the power by the number of players on the map that way the more players on, the stronger the shield will be to make it fair. 4/5 fix these and it will be 5/5 add more carts too like a electric shock bolt

  • To answer your question for others, yes, super sentries can be sapped. This will only disable them, but as long as the spy lives, and no engy can make it to the sentry, it'll remain sapped and harmless.

    Every super sentry can be sapped.

    As for the demoman overpowered theory, it works well for objectives, but since RedShip has a lot of confined areas, demos don't rule, let me tell ya. Every class has a purpose and has its tiny little advantage that counts at the end of the battle.

  • All i gotta say is: Snipers stick to your primary targets. . the demoman . I have a feeling he is going to be a brute on this map. . . this map is excellent 5/5 from me. My question is: since RED is now on the capture, Can BLU spies sap those sentries? not to destroy them but to make them inactive untill an engie knocks the sappers off? or are they destroyable and the ship rebuilds them after a certain amount of time

    boss1001: it's quite balanced right now. If you enter a room ubered, you'll obviously be able to destroy a few objectives, or if half the defending team is dead. Give it a shot and you'll see for yourself.

    Defenestrationed: BLU is given time based on the difficulty to destroy/access it and also based on the number it takes to unlock the next area. Goosebump? Try attacking when RED has 3 spies and the lights suddenly turn OFF... :)

  • This looks fantastic! My one gripe: do the objectives take enough hits to allow red to put up a fight? It looks like spam would be able to take them out incidentally. It would be cool if they could be repaired or autohealed over time.

    The counterattack idea is wonderful. I'll try to get this on one of our servers!

  • Great Map!!! Very well thought out. The comments on the DL sites have been good. We've just DL'd the map and are going to be setting up a 24/7 server for this map. Look for servers with the 5e tag.
