I loved this two part film Ray winstone deserved a award for his performance as henry he was outstanding all the way through,he's such a talented man I felt like i was watching the real henry he captured every emotion to perfection,he also played a great sweeny todd too :)
Oh, i don't know this movie. But i think they actually look same as historical pictures. Although about me, may be actors are a little old when Henry and Anne met together.
Idk what movie this is, but the clips certainly show a lot of emotion on Henry's part. Not exactly accurate to the sociopath he actually was. She had 2 miscarriages, and he had her beheaded.
That's true. But it's not a documentry and was an exploration into Henry as a man and the effects his actions may have had on him in private, that nobody saw. Yes he had Anne beheaded but there is a lot more to it than that. And one of anne's miscarriages was down to someone who told her the king was dead. May records also show that they seemed to be happy right up until later 1535.
i completely agree with YOU....this is much more accurate looking but still, I've never come across an actor as 'displeasing' to look at as Holbein's portrait of Henry VIII (the popular one) - they always give us pretty Anne Boleyns, I guess they don't want to have an ugo with her........although........hmm, I like to think Henry VIII possesed some sort of physical attraction (perhaps much earlier in life) - what does everything think?
i am going down to london this summer, and i can get in the tower free because my dad was a beefeater ,and i will get some digital photos of her grave stone and put it up for you,she is inside the church under the alter with catherine howard both beheaded by henry, catherine was a teenager.she really did have a lover ,but anne didnt..remember the princes in the tower that were murdered by richard 3rd?they were found under the stairs of the white tower, they are burried in westminster abby now.
she must have been frightened to death just being imprisoned there by her half sister mary, she was put in the bell tower,it is occupied by a beafeater, and he let me go in his house (round)because its a tower`)and i then craweled out of a small door ''down low ''to go on the balcony,Elizabeth walked everyday up and down on it ,and thats religion for you ,she was protestant like her father-Mary was catholic so called ''bloody mary'' for her tyranical slauter of masses for being protestant !SAD ..?
Not masses, 300. A lot less than other Tudor Monarchs, or just a lot of Monarchs in general, and I think she would have been a lot more tolerant to the Protestant faith if it hadnt basically ruined her life.
Anne god the best swordsman in france`it `s blow was so swift they say when they saw her head come off that she moved her lips and blinked+since we lived in the tower itself i would often sit on tower green and think about her as i fed the pigeons and all the tourists gone,i would look at the window above the green were she looked out seeing the scafold being built the queens palace built tudor style look strange in a twelveth century castle`i went up to the balcony were elizabeth was walking
we must not forget the pressure on Henry to have a son from all the men at court,it was a mans world and tho women had ruled england in the past like boudica, times had changed ,the church had a grip on england too ,henry had no quams about beheading anyone Anne wouldnt divorce him so he was pressured to do it,she was in a no win situation, older with syph, when he got the women he got bored too,he was like some men today intolerant of womens ways =different than courting-'being married isnt it?'
Annes and Cathrines bodies have been exumed before and both have their heads between their legs, they are burried under the altar in peter ad vincular church in the towerof london,my dad being a beefeater took me at night to in the church and i went onto the altar and he lifed the table cover so i could take a picture of the stones under which they lay,i felt sad to think of the women there, and if you go on mayo clinic to symptoms of syphllis the malformed babies anne had means she had syph...
Henry VIII was the best king ever, anyone who thinks diffrent is in wrong!!!! Henry VIII was doing all that he NEED to do for the good of ENGLAND don't forget that!!!!
only Elisabeth lived a long time, but she was strange and never married or had sex,but seeing her mother executed must have had a traumatic efect on her,she trusted no-one if she married the man would be king and could get ridd of her too,Anne was only married a thousand days, but was his longest relationship, the long wait for marriage played a role in his mind she failed him (no son)
i lived at the Tower my dad was a beefeater,i learned alot about Tudors thats all americans wanted to know about.
Anne was an outgoing woman, and loved to have fun, they made up she slept with her brother, she slept with a man from her past who was married,in his mind he had to do it ,so he could marry Jane Seymore who was the daughter of one of his men in court,Janes father pushed her onto Henry as Anne was at end days,Jane had a son to him Edward she died a week after his birth, and the son only lived to his teens and was always sickly growing up(syphlis)his first daughter mary died in her twenties.
Henry had all the symtoms of syphlis,he lay with any woman he could in court and out, kathrines death in exile is she got a mystery illness (syph)Anne did have other babies boys-she miscarried and some lasted a week and they were deformed,(syph)by then henry was ill and getting ulcers on his body(syph)he was persuaded by the men arround him to get ridd of Anne that he was punished by god not getting a son)because Anne had bewitched him,so he had the men find a reason to kill her all untruths.
Anne and Henry were not married for ten years as he couln't get divorced because of the catholic church was supream ruler over many countries,Anne showed Henry a book that stated he was head of the kingdom, for ten years Henry with Anne put up a fight for the break from Rome, she wanted to be queen, they secretly married when she became pregnant with Elisabeth,he couldn't execute kathrine because of Rome and his daughter (bloody mary)was betrothed to the king of spains son,Anne was in her thirties.
thank you!!!in history we watched this video i wanted to watch it again!!!what movie is it from??? cos i wanna see anne get exacuted lol arent i sad 5/5 fave english king
I heard from my history teacher that there is a theory Henry had asiphilus(cant spell it)and thats why he had trouble with his wives giving birth, they obviously got the std off him, their wombs could take one pregneancy but the rest couldnt live in an infected womb...
hey, aboleynfan1505 have you tried reading threads by nell gavin? its really gr8 if you hope there was forgiveness! its a novel i got it from amazon, only bit i hated was the lack of empathy for george boleyn and the lack of mention of the others who were murdered with her! still really good book with different twist on it!
Nice video and yeah the movies is awesome. As to the question of why Anne couldn't give Henry a son most scholars now believe that it was likely due to the fact that Anne was Rh negative and that Henry was Rh positve the first child (Elizabeth) is born healthy but without a shot that is commonly given these days the mother's blood builds up antibodies against Rh postive blood which can cause her to miscarry future babies who's blood is Rh positive.
all the comments are about henry the 8th and the female actress....but no one has noticed that it is Ray winstone playing henry and ray is one of the worlds finest actors and most talented in england it wouldnt had been neaely as good if ray didnt play the lead role of henry.....a bloody good perfomance from an amazing british actor...........ray
ugh henry viii was a pig... he started my church but i still dun like him lol. I <3 helena bonham carter, shes the best. Did anyone see her in sweeney todd she did really well.*-* I went to the tower of london where anne boleyn was beheaded, its like this little spot on the grass.
He beheaded Anne because, he couldn't give him, a son that he wanted, because there was something wrong with her womb! The only son she did give birth too was born dead & she had several other Miscarriges (After Elizabeth obv.)So he and along with some help acussed her of sleeping with other Men including her brother! After she was tried by a court and found guilty of adultery & insest she was be-headed.
a bastard is a baby that is born outside of marriage. So if Henry was claming he wasn't technically married to Anne, that would make their daughter, Elizabeth a bastard. One tip, don't believe anything you see in 'The Tudors' or 'The Other Boleyn Girl' its mostly fiction.
its unlikely she had anything wrong with her womb at first, it was either damage after the birth of Elizabeth (her first child) or the pressure to give Henry a boy in my opinion..
The reasons Henry had Anne Beheaded were, she couldn't give him a son, there were no political advantages to gain from their marriage and he was most probably fed up with Anne speaking her mind.
Well said, the other boleyn girls is a piece of crap!
But i think there was something wrong with her womb, because my dad has a degree in history, and they were taught that there was likely that she had something wrong with her womb because of the way people were built in thoes days! Don't ask me it is confusing!!!
i read somewhere that henry and anne's blood types weren't compatible. the theory had to do positive and negative bloodtypes or something, which meant that after the firstborn child - elizabeth - more kids couldn't be born to them safely. just a theory, but fascinating.
I've heard about the Rh factor compatibility issue as well. I've also heard that Elizabeth II has ordered that Anne Boleyn's reamains remain sealed and never be disturbed. Anyone know if this is true? If so, we'll never be able to do a DNA analysis. The Tudor era was so important seems everyone has a right to know as much as we can about this era.
wow that is facinating i had also heard something like that but it was that her body produced somehting that did not allow her to have more surviving children. both are really facinating
schoolgurl87 - most historians think that she had a rare blood disorder, i believe. They think that she was Rh negative. Elizabeth was born with a different blood type and during labor their blood mixed and Anne's blood only recoginzed Elizabeth's as an intruder. So when she got pregnant again the Anne's white blood cells attacked the baby
Me and My Mother was looking up our family history on her side, and it turns out that we are related to Anne Boleyn from the Butler family, we freaked when we found out.
You guys claiming a relation to anne and the howards are SOOO lucky. Me and my mom attempted to trace my grandmum's history in england, but did not get very far (only a couple generations). My great grandmum worked in the palace though...so maybe?
Probably not. But i loved this video. Although i doubt that man cared enough about anne to mourn her death. He had his next corpse-bride buying her wedding ensemble that day.
how cruel he was - and to katherine howard! she was only 17 when she was beheaded. how heartless! and he had anne of cleves AND katherine parr both nearly beheaded. only catherine of aragon survived. jane seymour was near it i hear, she was boring him
I read a quote somewhere in one of the many biographies about Henry VIII's wives and it has stayed with me for the longest time. "Jane Seymour gave the King an heir and then had the good sense to die before he could tire of her." I know its a little morbid, but I've always found to amusing.
There have been many ways of spelling Anne's name. Infact i believe originally it was Anne Bullen...at this time, not many words had a paticular way of being spelt anyway, so arguing over the spelling of Anne's name seems kind of pointless when we all know who eachother means - it's just a testament to how widely she is know :)
I loved this two part film Ray winstone deserved a award for his performance as henry he was outstanding all the way through,he's such a talented man I felt like i was watching the real henry he captured every emotion to perfection,he also played a great sweeny todd too :)

I've heard about the Rh factor compatibility issue as well. I've also heard that Elizabeth II has ordered that Anne Boleyn's reamains remain sealed and never be disturbed. Anyone know if this is true? If so, we'll never be able to do a DNA analysis. The Tudor era was so important seems everyone has a right to know as much as we can about this era.

wow that is facinating i had also heard something like that but it was that her body produced somehting that did not allow her to have more surviving children. both are really facinating
schoolgurl87 3 years ago
schoolgurl87 - most historians think that she had a rare blood disorder, i believe. They think that she was Rh negative. Elizabeth was born with a different blood type and during labor their blood mixed and Anne's blood only recoginzed Elizabeth's as an intruder. So when she got pregnant again the Anne's white blood cells attacked the baby

i'm sure he did regret it - but we can't be sure. He may have convinced himself it was the right thing to do - it was a different world then.

The nevere of that man, I hate him.
Me and My Mother was looking up our family history on her side, and it turns out that we are related to Anne Boleyn from the Butler family, we freaked when we found out.
anneboleyn14 4 years ago
that's really cool! I'm related to her through her cousin's Catherine Howard's side of the family, Henry's 5th wife.
wjrfec41 4 years ago

The names of the six wives the way we say them in Hungarian:
Aragóniai Katalin
Boleyn Anna
Jane Seymour(some things just can't be changed,we don't have the Hungarian version for the name Jane)
Clevesi Anna
Howard Katalin
Parr Katalin
Nice:)
Sztriki86 4 years ago
In Hungary we say Boleyn Anna(in our language surname comes first, then the christian name).
Still love this video, the song fits this story perfectly!
It always makes me cry, partly because I lived trhough the base of the story with the love of my life, except I still have my head...

My teacher said me that it is ANNE BOLENA
eugeniabrenda 4 years ago
wtf, no its Anne Bolyen.
VioletteRose 4 years ago
There have been many ways of spelling Anne's name. Infact i believe originally it was Anne Bullen...at this time, not many words had a paticular way of being spelt anyway, so arguing over the spelling of Anne's name seems kind of pointless when we all know who eachother means - it's just a testament to how widely she is know :)
fortuna2007 4 years ago
people who speak english say anne boleyna, but people who speak spanish say ana bolena. I live in ARGENTINA so i speak spanish and i say ana bolena
anne boeyna and ana bolena are OK
eugeniabrenda 4 years ago
Yeah, I heard that it was originally Bullen, but when they went to France they changed it to Boleyn because it was more French sounding.
It is pointless, I suppose I'm just used to seeing/saying Anne Boleyn
