Khemchand Prakash and Lata together gave us one of the finest soundtracks. It was this young maestro who was responsible for Lata's meteoric rise as a playback singer. The genius KP died at age 42 before he could see that rise. Movie credits at that time listed the singer as Kamini, Madhubala's character in the film. This non-recognition led Lataji to successfully press for a new practice of openly acknowledging the actual singers.
