If you research it, she actually suggested Sally Fields to play the part. She said something along the lines of, no one could portray Peggy's anger better than Sally Fields. From everything I've heard she was very happy with the movie.

i've read the book and i'm very very very glad that they left out a majority of the stuff that happened in the book out of the movie. they couldn't have shown that stuff on tv at all.

After years of frustration, I finally just had to accept that films and novels have their own way of telling the same story. Valley of the Dolls, Sybil, Carrie. The Exorcist and 1984 are the only 2 (I've read) that come close to being the same.

Just enjoy them both. Divorce yourself from the story (in the movie) and enjoy the performances and production.

I like how the therapy sessions went outside of the office, and into a beautiful park setting, as in the last scene. It seems the director took into account the fact that the big crux of Sybil's disorder was too big for a small office environment. As to give the movie a big finish.

It was a horrific movie. I know how it feels to suffer from a dissociative disorder. It's a great defense mechanism when your young...to shield you from either physical or emotional/mental abuse.
